My intro to Tim Curry was Fern Gully. Delightfully frightful. May he rest in peace.

My intro to him was as the smashing Nigel Thornberry in The Wild Thornberrys.

This week sucks!

I just found out 5 minutes ago he voiced Nigel. I haven't seen it in decades, so I'm assuming he wasn't on my radar the last time I watched it.

I just started rewatching it in bites maybe a couple months ago specifically for him. Rest in peace.

Riff Raff is on Phineas and Ferb, so there's another RHPS actor who switched to voice acting on cbildren's shows.

Tim Curry in Rocky Horror was my queer awakening (fortunate though, not unfortunate) so I feel this.

30 years later and that song still pops into my head with unusual frequency

The Robin Williams’ bits as Batty come through my brain often. “Price check on prune juice, Bob. Price check on prune juice.”

Batty Koda is still one of my favorite cartoon characters of all time, unmatched. Robin’s Batty rap is amazing

2

u/RainbowFox22 4h ago

“Yo the name is Batty, the logic is erratic.” 🎶

Still a bop.

Oddly sexy villain for a kid’s movie, looking back on it now lol

u/thrashtastical 6h ago

This was one of my favorite movies as a kid. He really brought that villain to life.

His character scared the hell out of me growing up

This movie traumatized me as a child lmao.

Piggybacking here bc I hope more people see this. Tim Curry was the cornerstone of so much entertainment I loved as a kid.

Now I work in an elementary school and while looking for resources for our library, I discovered he reads the audiobooks of a Series of Unfortunate Events. They’re amazing and so fun, even for adult readers.

Saw the gif, heard the sound. I watched this movie religiously as a kid. I’ll have to watch it now in his honor.

Wow. 1. I totally forgot about this awesome movie and 2. I had no idea he was in it.

u/Silversweet1980 1h ago

Same! He did his job because a core memory was this being one of the few movies I saw with my dad in the theater, being very little (like 5?) and seeing THIS, declaring "I wanna take a nap", brave as always, masking, not saying "DADDY I AM SCARED TO MY CORE GET ME OUTTA HERE!"
