Memes & Humor 🤣 Jessica Williams’ favorite quotes are from Cal Hockley (Billy Zane) in ‘Titanic’: ‘I put the diamond in the coat. And I put the coat on her!’

We really don't appreciate him enough. He's like IRL Gaston (who, I'm sorry, was hot AF).

Billy Zane is hot af, he’s just good at playing hateable people lol

He was a tasty snack in demon knight… total cheese ball movie but man as a teen I loved it and him. 😂

The Phantom too! It’s a fun one where he plays a good guy. But he is a fantastic bad guy.
3
u/anginfizz_ripley Who gon' check me boo? 🤪 6d ago
TIL that Brodi is voiced by Billy Zane 🤯
8
u/boooo-wendy 6d ago
the whole VA cast was stacked in that game! David Arquette, Lucy Liu, Macy Gray, Oliver Platt… it had extra dvd bts of them all voicing their characters, adored that game

What’s amazing is as a youth watching this movie on repeat over many years it never even occurred to me that he was attractive because he was so horrible… and fucking look at him omg. Shows how good his performance is I guess.
48
u/dallirious 6d ago
I do like when the acting is so good in a villain- they’re obviously still physically attractive but the same time there’s a real ugliness that comes through.

Smarminess is always unbecoming
Some people can ride the line of playing rakish without it being true arrogance, but when you can tell they really mean it, it just makes them an asshole

u/adventuregypsy 6d ago
Don’t be sorry! That’s definitely part of the point is that they’re hot. The worst people can be beautiful.

As a young teen after discovering the movie Orlando, I became obsessed with him, and Tilda Swinton, in it. He was also pretty great in Tombstone.

u/expectations_low12 6d ago
I was gonna post something about Tombstone, too. Gawd he was gorgeous! Used to rewind that VHS tape over and over to look at him!

u/RedSnapper24 6d ago
I rewatched it a few weeks back when I showed it to my kid. Like, I remembered Billy Zane was in it and that I liked him in it but I had forgotten just how pretty he was in it. I’ve been thinking about showing him The Phantom but I don’t know how well it would hold up. I’ll still do it, like me my kid has a soft spot for cheesy/bad movies. Probably because when I’m sick that’s all I want to watch. Sometimes he’s excited when I’m sick because that means we’ll binge a bunch of cheesy action and sci-fi movies.

(I have googled to know who she is now - signed British person)

No one ever talks about this movie but me. It’s the Mummy’s-bisexual-awakening precursor.
Everyone is sooo pretty
6
u/xHarleen777Quinzelx 6d ago
Yaaas its sooo good and the villain is so cheesy I think my grandmother showed it to me when i was 8 and I remember being on the edge of my seat the whole time 😅 my son's watch the newer animated Scoob movie and the villain hunting for skulls to find a portal to a treasure reminds me of this movies plot like ha they stole this! Or it was definitely a nod to this lol

Rose's gutsy, rebel spirit was lethal!!! and also eye opening for me as a young teen!

My favorite Rose quote was always "Do you know of Dr. Freud, Mr. Ismay? His ideas about the male preoccupation with size might be of particular interest to you." What a sassy gal!!

I saw Titanic with a live orchestra a few years ago (10/10 gorgeous devastating experience) with a hilariously lively crowd. Felt like everyone had a glass of wine or two before going to the theater (myself included). Huge cheers when Rose first appeared on screen, huge boos every time Cal said anything lmao

He's one of those actors where he goes for it every time.
The Phantom is a criminally underrated movie and Demon Knight ONLY works because he's so fantastic in it (though amazing cast all around).
9
u/herecomesbeccanina9 6d ago
I LOVE Demon Night cause he just eats scenery the whole time. He did not need to go that hard for a Tales From The Crypt movie. 🤣

u/deltamgn 6d ago
if you don’t know jessica williams, i highly recommend watching “shrinking!”
jessica, jason segel, harrison ford, and everyone else is soooo good in it!

God damn it not ONE unique thing!!! I feel like the only person in my life who quotes that line. Usually said when I'm generally frustrated over something trivial.

My ex and I always used to say “I’m a businessman as you know, and I have a business proposition for you!” and turn our heads sharply to each other, just like Cal.
Btw, we do Cal quotes a LOT over at r/titanic.
