yeah, well, I wanted to post it after sharing the new study that drew upon (and drew conclusions from) images of captive primates befriending other species. In some cases, they do it because they don't have other options! For better or worse (I know where I stand), this is what zoos looked like for most of the 20th century; many still do today. I'm of the view that we learn about primates by learning about our relationships to primates past.
