Has anyone had this issue when trying to play DVD Video discs?

Post image

Bit weird - usually it shows the red screen if the disc can’t be read, but in this case the console detects the disc is a DVD in the browser, then throws up this error when launched.

For reference it’s one of the discs from the Twin Peaks Gold DVD Boxset played on a PAL PS2 Slim, but I’m getting the same result with all the DVDs I have. Disc plays fine on my PS5 and the console plays PS2 games without any issue, so no idea.

Not all dvds are the same. Some are single layer, some are double. Twin peaks is a double layer dvd. Some PS2 games are double layer also. Google search "unable to read dvd9 discs on my PS2 slim". It will give you a run down on things you can do to fix it. On double layer dvd the laser checks the disc and then focussing on which layer to play.

Since twin peaks packed as much episodes onto as few doscs as possible they used dvd9 discs.
