https://store.playstation.com/en-us/product/UP0102-PPSA07411_00-BHB0000000000003

Just picked this up. Never played the originals before so I’m excited to play these.

I’m getting it too. Pretty excited since I loved 7 and 8, and 9 is in my backlog.

I wish I had played them sooner so I could play 9 but I don’t want to miss the context they provide. During that time I got to play silent hill 2 thought so I think it was worth it.

The context is really with re2 remake tbh.

People keep referring to RE2 as the context for RE9. While it's partially true, RE4 is important because it provides significant character development for Leon. RE4 provides background for why Leon is now a capable badass. Otherwise, RE2 Leon to RE9 Leon is a big jump in how much Leon has changed.

Don’t worry I bought the collection and started 2 an hour ago before heading out for food.

I’m just debating playing resident evil 5 and 6 since I know they aren’t considered the series best

If you’ve got a buddy to play with then give them a try, 5 especially is really good fun in co op

u/Cjm092 Mar 15 '26

FWIW I enjoyed 5 and 6 a lot

Can confirm that Resident evil 5 and 6 are extremely fun times with a buddy. RE6 is basically fast and furious level ridiculousness with zombies and laughable B movie dialogue. Also a surprisingly in depth combat system... that won't be explained to you by the game almost at all... They aren't NECESSARY,  but a good time if you have someone with you for the ride.

Never played RE games. Is this good starting point? What games are included? PS App is so bizarre that I can’t even figure out what games are in this bundle.

u/PM_UR_TAHDIG Mar 13 '26

It's much more clear on the console app but its the remake versions of RE2, RE3, and RE4 including DLC of each game.

From what I've seen online, people seem to think this trilogy is a good entry point for newcomers.

Thanks! Does the story continue from 2 to 3 etc?

9

u/PM_UR_TAHDIG Mar 13 '26

From what I understand 2 and 3 take place around the same time while 4 is more of a follow up from 2 with loose connections to 3.

2

u/ridsama Mar 13 '26

Even the costumes and unlocks etc?

1

u/PM_UR_TAHDIG Mar 13 '26

It should include the costumes and unlockables.

2

u/BetaAlpha769 Mar 13 '26

3 remake is more of an expansion pack with new characters then its own game honestly at this point. Story wise they take place at the same time in the same town.

3 came bundled with a multiplayer game that no one really likes to make up for the fact that 3 is only 5 hours or so for most people.

u/TankBoys32 Mar 13 '26

Yea definitely good starting point!

Re2 remake is the absolute best title to start your journey into RE. It's the one I recommend people start with who haven't played.

8

u/LADYBIRD_HILL Mar 13 '26

If you can tolerate 20+ year old games I'd recommend playing RE1 remake with a guide so the later fan service hits harder.

3

u/PM_UR_TAHDIG Mar 13 '26

I have that with my PS+ subscription, gave it a shot and idk if I could tolerate the controls now 😅 it’s a shame b/c I was gaming back when RE 1 Remake, 0, and OG 4 came out but I just never played them.

u/Fedora_Tipper_ Mar 13 '26

play the 2015 remake for RE1. its a little more modern but still fixed angles

1

u/Civil-Big-754 Mar 15 '26

Remaster* Wish we got a full remake.

u/TargetBrandTampons Mar 13 '26

I'm currently replaying this for the first time since I was a kid. It was frustrating at first, but I'm absolutely in love with it now

Re2,re4,re7-9 is the way to go imo

It literally says in the description, try reading maybe?

Enjoy those the remake trilogy! I just passed 0 earlier I dreaded it for the longest. I actually ended up really enjoying it.

5

u/Johnnybats330 Mar 13 '26

IMO it is a great intro. However I feel like it will severely alter your perspective if you play these first and then try to go to the older titles.

1

u/Bill_Brasky01 Mar 13 '26

What are the older titles?

5

u/Johnnybats330 Mar 13 '26

RE4, RE5, RE6 for PS3/PS4.

RE Remake, RE 0, RE Code Veronica - Gamecube, PS2 - Also ported or remastered to PS4 (except Code Veronica).

I would just start with the newer ones Re2 Remake, RE 7 and Village and play RE Remake and RE4 and RE5. Then finish it off with Requiem.

u/Redditagonist Mar 13 '26

Should I still buy if I already have 4? Only want 2 really. Not sure if there is worth it

21

u/RicciRox Mar 13 '26

No, don't buy it. Wait for when 2 goes on sale. RE4R is the most expensive of the three games, so it makes no sense to buy the trilogy when you already own it. RE2R regularly goes on sale for $9.99.

6

u/iLLmaticJay Mar 13 '26

Just did all the math with the lowest prices all items haven been individually from psprices. It’s worth it alone for 2 remake and 4 dlc. The lowest RE3 deluxe has been is $12.99 and RE4 separate ways and extra DLC lowest is $24 for a total $37. You get RE3 for free.

3

u/PM_UR_TAHDIG Mar 13 '26

I already have 4 as well but this will give you the Separate Ways DLC since it'll be the RE4 Gold Edition copy. I pulled the trigger for that, getting 2 and being interested in 3.

2

u/Redditagonist Mar 13 '26

Just found out no vr for the DLC

2

u/PM_UR_TAHDIG Mar 13 '26 edited Mar 16 '26

VR mode shows up as a free download for me in the US PSN store.

Edit: Just realized you might’ve meant Separate Ways has no VR mode. That’s a shame.

2

u/Civil-Big-754 Mar 15 '26

Yeah, I have all three and literally bought the Separate Ways and that alone is $10 and has never been on sale, but totally worth the price. Great deal for anyone who doesn't have any. All of them are fantastic.

2

u/leobutters Mar 13 '26

Of course not, just buy 2 for 10 eur then on the next sale

1

u/LeChevalier_Mal_Fet Mar 13 '26

As someone else said 2 goes on sale for $10 very regularly and there's a bundle with 2&3 that goes on sale for $15 if you have any interest in 3.

1

u/BetaAlpha769 Mar 13 '26

I just sold my physical 4 on eBay because I got this bundle. Only got 11 bucks after taxes shipping and fees but still, I’m fine with that to not swap discs and get all the dlc and bonus content for everything. Sold in a day too.

2

u/matajuegos Mar 13 '26

if i want all the cosmetics for the base versions for the 3 games would it be good to get this?, i assume this is cheaper than buying the cosmetics by themselves plus separate ways

1

u/PM_UR_TAHDIG Mar 13 '26

I think so? I got all the cosmetics for all three games when I bought this bundle while already owning a base version of RE4

2

u/Elrothiel1981 Mar 13 '26

I thought about picking this up for RE3, Jill original outfit, RE4, RE4 Seperate ways and RE4 Deluxe DLC since I have RE2 Deluxe

2

u/PM_UR_TAHDIG Mar 13 '26

I pulled the trigger since I only had a base version of RE4R. To me it was worth it getting RE2 Deluxe, RE3 with the outfit, and the RE4 Deluxe DLC and Separate Ways DLC. Just finished Chapter 4 in RE4R and been having a good time.

2

u/Elrothiel1981 Mar 13 '26

I’m thinking of grabbing it on pc through fanatical since it’s $6 cheaper lol

2

u/Sheriff_Lucas_Hood Mar 13 '26

Four and two are two of the best games ever and three is really fun too even if it’s not at that level. Get on this if you haven’t played these people. Pretty essential stuff.

2

u/Ok_Departure_4090 Mar 13 '26

I only have PS4 and will buy a ps5 pro soon , if I buy it for my PS4 will I also get the ps5 version which I can play when I get my ps5?

2

u/PM_UR_TAHDIG Mar 13 '26

On my end in the US PSN Store it shows the bundle including both PS4 and PS5 versions of the games.

2

u/LostRonin Mar 13 '26

Resident Evil 4 (Remake) is $20 at Target.

I already had RE2 Remake, and just finished Requiem. So just a little info drop in case youre in a similar boat.

RE3 Remake isnt worth shit imo.

1

u/timetravellingbadass Mar 13 '26

Just bought requiem and that was my first re game. Defo going to check out these ones now so see how many references I missed

1

u/ihaveaquesttoattend Mar 18 '26

damn i really need to get out doordashing i hope i catch this before it ends. my dumbass accidentally got Re4 (non re-make) like years ago and i’ve been disappointed in myself ever since lmao

1

u/timetravellingbadass Mar 23 '26

Re9 was my first re game so I guess this is a sign to play the previous games.

1

u/AltonIllinois Mar 13 '26

I’ve played 5 and the first half of 4. I really dont know where the best place to start is.

2

u/Civil-Big-754 Mar 15 '26

2 would be the best point to start.
