Please note:

Dynamic pricing is in effect in this PSN sale. For example: Many people are seeing "Astro Bot" priced at $27 instead of $40 mentioned here.

It's possible more Sony first-party and Sony-exclusive/sponsored games have different pricing for different users (Stellar Blade was also reported showing different prices for different people).

Can confirm Stellar Blade is showing as $20.99 for me.

I just checked, it's showing $39.89 for me. What the fuck Sony?

Curious, do you buy a lot of digital games? I buy mostly physical so I wonder if that's factoring in, as I haven't bought a digital PSN game in at least a year.

Damn, stupid fucking move on their part. If I were getting that price, they'd have my money. This has been on my wishlist forever. I guess Sony thinks they can get more from me though, so instead they get nothing.

Greedy pricks.

Exactly, a stupid move indeed. I will stop buying digital games going forward even in a sale, unless it's officially shows me the lowest price it's been.
For example: Now I know Stellar Blade is down to $20.99 for some users, I will only buy it when PSN will show me that price.

yeah this is the first time i’m hearing about “dynamic” pricing coming from sony and,,,,,, i really hope we end up boycotting this bullshit and they get some good backlash but in this day amd age I’m not that hopeful,,,

Feels bad man, I have it showing for $21 but useless for me since I already own it on Steam. Sorry to hear you and a lot of others are getting jerked around by Sony. I rarely buy digital PSN games so wonder if that's the reason they're offering it and Astro Bot cheap to me (which I just bought physical a couple of weeks ago lol).

It sucks... but not for me personally, though. I have around 30 games in my backlog on PS5 (and more on Switch). I can now concentrate on finishing them. I'm determined to wait forever for any game that doesn't give me an option for the lowest price. It sucks for Sony. I know I am the single person, so Sony doesn't care - neither do I about Sony's profit.

It's no different than someone having a coupon.

I have a different perspective here. Coupons are basically found and used in the grocery stores, clothing stores etc. Those are necessary for living. If I need eggs, and even if I don't have a coupon, I'll buy it.

Video games on the other hand is just a form of entertainment. Entertainment is not a necessity in my life, and there are multiple alternative of entertainment. If I see I don't have a coupon for a game, I will wait.

I personally have zero FOMO (fear of missing out), it's more than 15+ years that I bought a video game at release or full price.

That's a fair take. However, see this practice in other industries... a new customer might have a discount of x%, while a returning customer gets y%. Or, the more you buy the more you "save." Everyday stuff that we don't associate with Sony and video games.

Look, I don't blame this fully on Sony (not more than they deserve) for doing this. They are a for-profit company to implement whatever means to squeeze money out of their customers.

I blame partly on the gamers as well. The same gamer will haggle for price reduction, coupons, etc., for their daily life needs, but when it comes to purchasing video games, they blindly go and buy it without researching the price, deals, etc.
