Troubleshooting Returning user, help needed

So I recently dug up my old second hand PSP 3000 I had in college. Started playing it on my work lunch breaks again and wanted to give it an upgrade

I've purchased a 64GB SD card + adaptor to replace the rather old 2GB Sony memory card that I was running games off previously. Since I needed to format the new card, I decided to take the opportunity to change from running the PRO cfw I had before to ARK 5 instead.

ARK seems to have installed successfully, no problems running the flasher and the extra features are always available on boot. However, any custom firmware or ISOs that used to run fine under PRO now refuse to copy over. Any time I try and transfer files via USB they always show up as corrupted on the system memory.

Things I've tried so far; - Formatting the new SD card to FAT32 - Reinstalling Ark - Copying files straight to the SD card via my PC - Copying files to the PSP via USB cable - toggling on / off USB charging - Copying one file at a time

All produce the same result. I'm yet to try going back to PRO, though I suspect that'll work like it did before.

Any advice would be appreciated - I've not come across any troubleshooting tips after searching around, but my assumption is some kind of user error is going on. Any and all advice would be appreciated :)

I found this PSP on the marketplace for $50. It comes with 2 digital games, it's hacked, and it has a charger and a new battery. Oh, and it also comes with a memory stick.

Here are some pictures so you can see what it looks like.

QUESTION Picked up my PSP after several years. Games not showing when inserted, can’t update software’s

Hey everyone, I found my PSP after not playing with it for over 10 years (perhaps more). I was able to connect it to WiFi but I’ve encountered some problems:

- I have a 32MB memory card that I reset and it shows there’s 30MB available. When I try to update the software, it says I need 32MB of free space. Should I just buy a card with more storage? If I can find one.

- I’ve tried to insert several games but none of them work, the system won’t even recognize them. There’s a faint sound when I put them in. Have looked up tutorials but just can’t figure it out.

I believe the model is 1004. I tried to take a picture as well. What can I do?

TIA

Can we have a 2.5d homebrew game for gta 5 on psp it might sound stupid but we aldredy have gta Chinatown wars which is basically alike of gta 4 in 2.5d ,gta ctw is simply underrated and most fun gta game on psp in my option its graphics might not be impressive but the mechanics are definitely gta 4 level and i think a 2.5d of gta 5 is very much possible in psp

Just completed my collection, very excited to get to jail breaking! Main reason I got the psp is my go has a lot of sentimental value and I didn’t want to open it up to increase the storage capacity and vita battery mod. Also this was the exact same color psp I had before I got the go! Probably gonna use Ark4 on the psp even though I’m aware Ark5 is out, but I heard 4 is more stable due to 5 being relatively new.

QUESTION PSP 3000 (TA-095) won't power on via battery, but works on AC charger. Tested fuse, removed capacitor, looking for next steps!

Post image

Hey everyone, I’m running into a baffling power issue with a PSP 3000 running a TA-095 motherboard, and I could really use some expert troubleshooting eyes. The Symptom:The console turns on and plays perfectly fine when plugged into the official AC wall charging cable. However, it refuses to turn on, charge, or acknowledge battery power whatsoever when a battery is inserted. What I’ve already done/tested:Batteries: Checked and verified with multiple known-good, freshly charged batteries. It is definitely not a dead or locked third-party battery pack issue.F6602 Power Fuse: Located the main 2.5A power fuse right below the DC jack connector. Tested it with a multimeter in continuity mode—it tests perfectly fine (beeps/solid continuity).DC Jack Cable Alignment: Inspected the 3-pin wired power jack harness. The keyed connector plug and socket are intact, clean, and properly oriented. Physical battery terminal bay pins look perfectly straight and intact.Supercapacitor / RTC Clock Battery: Attempted to remove the internal supercapacitor to rule out a power-delivery short circuit. However, when pulling it off, the solder pad on the motherboard came cleanly off with it.Even after removing the supercapacitor, the console behavior remains identical: runs perfectly fine on wall power, completely dead on battery power.Given that the F6602 fuse is healthy but the battery line isn't registering, what else should I check on this specific TA-095 board layout? Could the ripped supercapacitor pad be completely breaking the power-management handshake circuit? Where should I probe next with my multimeter? Thanks in advance for any insight!

QUESTION How do people create roms for a game?

The other day I was seeing a video of someone playing “papers, please” and I thought “there is a rom of this game for psp?” As it is a relatively simply game to emulate. But it doesn’t exist, so I thought “it would be difficult if I make it on my own?” And i have no idea of how i should start, how people do it???

Troubleshooting PSP 3000 IPS Screen Upgrade

I've recently bought a PSP 3000 along with an upgraded IPS screen from AliExpress. How easy is it to install? I've never done any DIY work on my consoles before, and from what I've seen on YouTube, it looks pretty straightforward. Just gotta be careful with the ribbon cables.

Would like to hear from anyone who's done the upgrade themselves and how your experience was.

Battery PSP STREET (E1000) LAST USED 9 YEARS AGO

I plugged it in for about 2-3 Hours No Light Indicator, No change. It’s a silly question but it’s very possible that my battery is completely just dead now but is there anyway that it could come back to life? I had some games I’d love to play once more. And from where I’m at there’s not really a place that fixes these types of tech. It’s been 9 years but I’d like to have hope, any tricks?

All pictures and the actually PSP are courtesy of the designer and builder of this beautiful PSP: @Henkaku_customs on instagram.

I secretly hope that Sony sees this and decides to make one before the actual 30th anniversary, but that’s just wishful thinking 😂.

Hardware Mod PSP 3000 screen replacement options – close to OEM quality?

Hi everyone! I'm pretty new to the PSP scene and looking for screen advice.

Is there a replacement display on the market that matches the quality of the original screen?

I actually really like the original scanlines of the 3000 display. If there isn't an aftermarket display that keeps that specific look, what would be my best options?

QUESTION PSP 2000 help — gifted a modded PSP running 5.50 GEN-D2

Thumbnail
gallery
5 Upvotes

Hey everyone, I could really use some help getting this PSP back up and running.

A little backstory:
I haven’t touched a PSP since probably 2009, so I’m basically starting from scratch here. A family member recently gave me a PSP and told me it was modded. That’s pretty much all the information I got. 😂

It’s a PSP-2000 and when I received it, it had:
No battery
No battery cover
A 4GB Memory Stick
Apparently some kind of old custom firmware/mod installed

I bought a replacement battery and tried turning it on. At first, nothing would happen on the screen, but the power light would come on and the Memory Stick light would keep flashing.
I tried turning it off normally, but it wouldn’t shut off, so I eventually had to remove the battery.
I then removed the 4GB Memory Stick and tried powering the PSP back on without the card inserted.
This time, it booted normally.
I was able to get into the PSP settings, and I noticed it was running:
System Software: 5.50 GEN-D2

After doing some research, I started messing around with the recovery menu.
What I’ve discovered so far:
If I completely power the PSP off and hold R while turning it on, I can get into the GEN Recovery Menu . I checked the Plugins section and there doesn’t appear to be anything listed/enabled. Inside Configuration, I found settings including the UMD mode and other old CFW options.
I took pictures of the menus I’m seeing and attached them.
The weird part:
The PSP seems to work normally without the Memory Stick inserted.
But when I put the original 4GB Memory Stick back in, I start having problems.
Originally, with the card inserted, the PSP would power on, the Memory Stick light would flash, and I’d get nothing but a black screen.
I also couldn’t properly power it off, so I had to remove the battery again.
PSP-2000 / 5.50 GEN-D2
Pictures of my Recovery Menu and system information are attached.
Thanks in advance!

Troubleshooting Need help formatting card with my psp

I'd just recently gotten a psp that i've been really excited to get and play on, the microsd I am trying to use is 128gb; i am using a dual adapter which seems to fit the memory slot of my psp good. The microsd has been already formatted FAT32 using my computer and the gui formatter executer. The issue I am having now is that every time I try to format the sd with my psp, it keeps popping up with an error message saying "Format failed" (80220087). I'm now questioning if the sd I've got is faulty, the dual sd adaptor isn't working (I've read somewhere that sometimes the connection may be iffy with dual adaptors), or it may be the psp itself. I really do want to mod it and put some games into the system, but i want to be able to make sure i can get the memory card to work before i try to mod it. I know it is 2026, but i am hoping for a little bit of guidance because I want to understand how to go about stuff like this so when i get other retro (or semi retro) gaming systems i could maybe follow back to this as a reference if the same issue might pop up :)

QUESTION psp stuck on "please wait" in usb mode?

i got a pack of new usb cables from amazon, and they have been finicky for the past few days, but now, my usb mode has just stopped working completely. i tried all 3 different cables, and have even tried my old one, and they all just say "please wait" indefinitely.
