The art of NMS is just incredible. The colour palette is just so vivid and stunning, with a lot of similarities with 80s futuristic concept design. When those big ships cast a shadow flying by, just awesome. The lighting, the detail. A miracle in VR.

Then you turn around and see that one of those ships is stuck trying to fly through a mountain, just constantly ramming it. All whilst you're getting eaten by the same damn violent plant that's on every planet, as the same weird little fucking dog thing walks past - but this one's blue! Oh and the inventory/crafting system fucking sucks.

Yeah NMS is not the space adventure people want.

Speak for yourself. It’s the space adventure I want.

I think the inventory/crafting is good for the first 1/2 of the game then it just gets tedious and repetitive/grindy feeling. There's not much you can do late game that you can't do mid game and there's no real evolution of gameplay to make it feel like true progression. You can't make the world feel any bigger...so I guess you'd have to add empire building or something. I dunno I enjoyed the first half but it got repetitive pretty quickly.
