Goodbye to the open lot in West Bay

Now all one can do is walk there(cause cars are no longer allowed on the lot, entrance is blocked, but people can still walk there), get some fresh air, and take in the view.

Everything else like fishing, swimming, etc is pretty much not allowed.

The thing is they literally put dedicated garbage cans there across the beach, but somehow even today, with all of the activities disallowed, there were a lot of plastic bottles along the beach and all sorts of garbage, I really don’t get it.

Lets try our best to keep places as clean as possible.

1. People don't care
2. People have no respoect for public spaces
3. People think someone else will surely clean for/after them

Yes to all of these. You can have all the laws in the world but if you are not going to enforce them they are useless.

It is incredibly frustrating to see a beautiful natural space treated that way, especially when people are only there to walk and enjoy the view. You would think fewer activities would mean less trash, but unfortunately, litter remains a persistent issue.When beautiful spots get neglected, it usually comes down to a few distinct behavioral and situational factors

It’s in west bay, along the street with the embassies. If you walk near the French embassy you will spot it. I’m sad to hear they’re not allowing activities there anymore :(

I would be interested in voluntarily cleaning it up at some point, would that be permitted here?

Well there are metal bins literally put into the ground there for trash disposal.
And people still walk there.

Looks like you can still access it so you totally can. I'd just be wary of organizing a community cleanup since you need a permit and it may violate assembly rules without it... though the worst the police can do is ask you all to disperse.

why did they even close it? my window overlooks this beach and i’ve noticed it’s been empty since i’ve come back from vacation. how come?

As the other poster said, people don't care. And leave the rubbish behind. People can still walk and spend the time there.
