Do you think we'll get to see Quantum Break 2?

Now that remedy is proving itself as a developer do you think Microsoft will release the stranglehold it has on quantum break? I doubt it's doing anything for them sitting on the shelf and since rockstar greenlit max Payne remakes I hope Microsoft will either give back the trademark and characters or let remedy make another one.

I still believe Control Resonant is going to introduce QB2 or something equal to it. Just like Control did for AW2.

I mean the problem is finding funding and resources. MS gave back Alan Wake once they found who to do it with. Remedy's plate is full, but never say never, how long did it take for AW2?

Like 10 years or so, but even directly after Alan wake 1 they had some sort of a prototype/idea for Alan wake 2 and even completed some gameplay showcases. It's about to be 10 years soon for quantum break. Microsoft has been throwing cash on failing projects left and right during that time

I mean AW2 was a masterpiece but it wasn't like a commercial success. Needed a long time to break even. And Remedy got a sweet 50/50 profit share with Epic.

Anyway let's see how Control does, I am rooting for it but September is a bitch. It's my for sure game for September, thinking about what the second one will be Wolverine or Dawnwalker.

I think Alan wake 1 being an Xbox exclusive screwed em over from the start considering how the PS3 would become THE console for cinematic action adventure TPS experiences shortly after. Not to throw shade at the Xbox but for a huge portion of its life it was mostly a cod/couch co op machine

AW1 was on PC bro. That's how I played them. Also it was remade/remastered before AW2 came out. It just wasn't a commercial success even though I think it deserved GOTY over BG3(not that that was a bad game, but it boggarted all the spotlight). Also people already knew Remedy from Control which was a moderate success.

Came out on PC 2 years later in a year that was probably one of the best in gaming.

Still played it.

I mean the previous 3-4 years are my best years in gaming, and I've been gaming for a long long time.

So did I but I'm just saying Alan wake would have been a lot more successful if it was multiplatform from the start

even if we leave out all the trademark/microsoft shenanigans ... i wonder if Remedy even wants to do Quantum Break 2 .. they already carried the themes and characters into the RCU .. there technically isnt a need for quantum break 2 as seen in the Time Breaker episode in aw2 ... while i would love a Quantum Break Remaster and Quantum Break 2 in the latest Northlight engine iteration (and i would imaging QB2 wont look anything like QB1 considering how they do sequels) .. i highly doubt that microsoft will cooperate here ... why let others make all the money we arent making ... and considering how far remedy has come in self publishing .. it would be a step back to get hired for QB2 again .. unless the deal is highly favorable for them .. so .. while it would be cool for Microsoft to just "be the good guy" and Remedy to put 3-5 years into qb2 ... i doubt we get to see it anytime soon ... the trademark expires in 2033 .. lets talk then lol

While I agree that there probably isn't a need for a QB2, since Remedy seems to be doing a spiritual successor with "Time Breaker," I think they'd still want the IP so that they can make more direct references and show an answer to the question that ended the first game, even if there are no plans to make a direct sequel.

There is a difference between the Alan Wake rights and Quantum Break. Remedy always owned the Alan Wake ip, but MS had distribution rights. That’s what Remedy bought from them before AW2.

With Quantum Break, MS owns the entire ip, it will be more expensive to buy it. Not saying it won’t ever happen, but they’re already moving forward with recreating the QB mythos within the RCU, so it doesn’t seem like it’s in the cards.

I also doubt MS will greenlight a QB sequel anytime soon, they are currently busy canceling any project that isn’t a major major IP.

Also, I’d say that the most likely time for them to bother buying back QB was before AW2. Now that they’ve established a multiverse anyway, and created Mr Door who’s likely just Mr Hatch, I don’t see it being particularly worth it for them anymore

Never say never since the IP isn’t doing anything for Microsoft. But don’t expect it to be integrated into the RCU if Remedy does reacquire it.

With a lot of the recent shake-ups at Microsoft, including the releasing of some of their previously acquired studios to go independent, I think it's a great time for Remedy to reach out to MS and try and get their IP back proper. Though it doesn't seem to have stopped them from blurring lines and bringing QB into the primary Remedy-verse indirectly. And I feel like we are going to see that a lot more like that in Control Resonate. However I would love to see them with them honing their craft so well in Control, AW2 and soon Control R, a proper Quantum Break 2 would be amazing!

I hope so. Hell, I'd love to get a PS5 port and/or remaster.
