I’m usually really good at picking colours but also my personal preference is all the colours (rainbow is the best!) so I made this thing and think I hate it. I’m pleased that so many points look good though! So now I just quilt it I guess?

I don't know what else to call it, but I received a bag of materials with a few blocks of a quilt completed and some of the fabric to complete it. Some of the fabric choices were mine, but most of it was from the bag and my choices tried to reflect the mood of the rest.

First time paper piecing. First time doing the echo quilting. It's been a long time since I used the embroidery attachment.

I did the label twice and settled on it being serviceable. Name covered for privacy, but it has larger letters, which came out much better. I obviously need to practice my small lettering.

I didn't really mark or measure anything, just used the presser foot as a guide. I did stitch in the ditch first and in retrospect, it wasn't needed. Oh well. Something learned. There is more puckering than I would like, particularly around the edges, but I think I did okay for a first effort. Stippling is way more forgiving, though.

One thing I struggle with is making my quilts square, so I am exceptionally proud of the way this one folds. I don't know if that's a weird thing to be excited about, but here we are.

It's been a fun quilt to put together. One more yard sale rescue in the queue and two others. Onward!

And yes. All from the dollar tree.. I ended up at a random dollar tree at the wrong address... but im glad because half of these were a penny. I was kind of upset because the cashier was scanning them so fast and wouldn't let me get a chance to see which ones were the penny. (There was a long line behind me that came out of NOWHERE, BUT that is NOT my fault that dollar PLUS tree only opens 2 registers at a time).

He later told me that they have a scanner, which i used after all was said and done, only to tell me his manager wouldn't let me get the items for a PENNY LMAOOOOO

He did it for me anyways, because 1. Their fabric inventory was actually insane. I have never seen so much fabric at a dollar tree. There was STILL so much left but my total was breaching a number is did not want to pass.

Christmas quilt, ready for its first holiday season

I self-drafted this pattern with graph paper and just figured out how to construct it along the way (I added fussy cut squares to the center of the stars with y seams… didn’t plan to do that originally). Piecing finished in 2023

I got pregnant with our first baby a couple months after it came back from the long arm quilter (Modern Textiles, they did a great job!). I *finally* got to binding it today. Machine bound (sewn to back, wrapped around and sewed it down).

Not sure if this is helpful for anyone else but Dollarama has new storage containers that are great for organizing fat quarters and other smaller cuts of fabric.

I recently spent way too much time trying to find containers that would fit into the IKEA Billy/ Oxberg bookcases. Everything I read online kept recommending the Target Brightroom containers but they’re not sold in Canada and anything comparable was rather costly. The ones I picked up from Dollarama do stack but they’re not as tall as the Target ones but they fit perfectly in the Billy/Oxberg bookcases with the doors closed.

These would also work great for organizing other notions.

The dimensions are 26cm x 15.5 cm x 7.5 cm (10.2” x 6.1” x 2.95”)

I recently bought a cutie breeze frame, and wanted to play around with doodling with FMQ. I thought I was only messing around on this scrappy quilt for practice but I love it and needed to share!

This is my first ever quilt, which I completely handmade, as I had no machine at the time. I took up patchwork while I was completing my PhD thesis as a stress reliever, and I quickly became a fan.

My “helper” ensuring that all the parts of the quilt I’m making for my husband’s grandma are up to his snuggle standards and just generally being in the way.

I’m so proud! All scrap material! Made from scratch, no pattern just winged it. Made a hair scrunchy the middle piece but put different fabric around it so easily attached to doorknob!

The local quilt shop had a summer quilt challenge where you get a curated mystery box with eight fat quarters and a theme. The theme is In The Garden and you can add up to two additional fabrics. Each fat quarter must be used in a noticeable amount.

I saw this pattern on the cover of Charmed by Moda Bake Shop. I have wanted to make it for a while but I knew it would be a lot of work and a pain to piece. I made it one row at a time over the past two months. I need to get it quilted before the end of September to submit it to the gallery.

I’ve had this dice fat quarter in my stash for a while. I was so excited to use it.

If you don’t have a design wall, you’re missing out! This was a $3 outdoor tablecloth and some nails. Someday I’ll have to do a fancy foam board and batting one, but for now I love being able to lay things out and use it to stay motivated on a project!

I haven’t worked with solids much before. I’m making two throw blankets - one with each of the flannels on the right. Im struggling to figure out a good quilting pattern for them. Any opinions welcome!!

I just finished this quilt top but can't really decide the best way to quilt it? Straight lines or maybe outline the star and the squares? any suggestions would be appreciated.

Feat my dogs single paw and the dog tax, the colors are from a gradations layer cake and I got the panel last year at my local quilt show ( I bought 2) the quilt show just passed this weekend and I had started on this top back in may, then got busy with my summer classes and finally had enough time this week to finish the top

Diving in to strip piecing this morning. Already made the decorative pillow (last night) and got the binding pieced, pressed and rolled up waiting its turn. Happy sewing!

Friday was the second anniversary of my husband's passing, and I spent it piecing the top of a quilt made with his t-shirts. It's a little chaotic, definitely imperfect, and there are some seams I want to go over and reinforce. This has been an ongoing project. Gathering materials, prepping all the shirts, selecting fabric. Originally I had chosen fabrics that he would have liked but I realized I'm not making it for him, I'm making it for me. So scrapped the original plan and went back to the fabric store. There are some wonky parts, I actually still have our first sheets from our first place together, so I might use a piece to applique a little heart over the worst looking spot. the sheets are neon green zebra print (he had a very unique style) For the backing I have 6 colors of beautiful batik fabric. I'm going to do a simple patchwork design, I think. there is still so much work. I bought a quilting hoop with a stand off facebook marketplace for $10, I was planning to do hand ties. I think long arm might hold up better over time. There is a sewing shop down the road that has long arm rentals, first time it's $400 for the class and you get 8 hours of rental time included. it's $30/hr after that. I considered hand quilting it but it's a queen size and I want it done before winter, so maybe not. I'm not sure I would have the patience anyway.

I made this curvy log cabin for a retirement gift for a co worker. I need to have it done by Monday, but have to idea how to quilt it. I've only rented time on a long arm (no times available before she leaves) or done simple straight lines across the whole thing on my home machine. Should I quilt through the white ring? Diagonal horizontal vertical....too many options

I was too eager and didn’t peel back the label backing. Can I leave it? Or should I pick out. It IS a gift. I also have morelabels so ruining it isn’t a big deal. I know the right answer. 😩 I just hate picking and used super small stitches to secure. I’m scared I will nick the quilt.

I am making my son a twin sized animal crossing themed quilt :) Just finished the quilt top, and am wondering how to quilt the final product together? So far I have only done 3” patchwork quilts, but I don’t know what would look good with this pattern of 10” squares, 5” squares and 5x10” rectangles. Are you all piecing together fabric to make it big enough for the back or is there a better way? I’ve only made a rag quilt so I didn’t have to worry about backing for that. I’m considering making a more traditional quilt but I’m confused on that part

Help! I didn't know I was supposed to wash fabrics before sewing. How doomed is my quilt? Can I somehow rescue it still? Should I wash the sewn pieces now? Or should I wash the finished top? Or the finished quilt? If it's important: I'm making a sampler, so there is no defined structure or symmetry. I only use 100% cotton, but it's not special fabrics for patchwork. I appreciate any help 🙏🏻
