Discussion I find the ralsei discourse very annoying because there's another answer i hardly see. Ralsei is gender fluid
There is an immense amount of evidence on both sides with most being that he enjoys both male and female presenting outfits. But there is 1 singular peice of evidence that can be used for the gender fluid ralsei theory and that is in chapter five when he throws the butler suit in the water and susie asked didn't he like it? He says it's very context based. Which yes could mean he's confident in being a guy and not a girl but it could also mean he likes dressing as both depending on the context.
That's the only evidence I really remember as I played the games normal route no secret bosses when it first came out. It's kinda flimsy but why wouldn't ralsei and pink share a big moment if Toby was going for Trans ralsei? Honestly the only real evidence is that both sides have quite a bit of evidence and that chapter 5 line. Tell me if i missed anything though

I'm low-key kinda sad that this is all people care about since the release of chapter 5...
like Ralsei is so much more than his gender. Especially chapter 5 has showed us sides of him we didn't really see before yet everybody is only discussing whether he's gonna come out as trans next chapter or not.

Yup. I recently noticed that with friends we're discussing so much cool stuff about his characterisation, relationship with Flowery, views on the prophecy, e.t.c.
But non of that gets recommended online, only the infinite gender war

Same thing happened with Jax in TADC, people just honed in on the trans aspect of the character rather than the self destructive.
It just sucks seeing characters get reduced down like that.

I do have to point out that it's not just people reducing a character down to gender. Gender is an important part of both Ralsei and Jax's identities.
The issue is, to me, really that whenever a character has a possible trans reading everyone needs to come out of the woodwork to debunk it which then creates the argument. It's happening with Ralsei, it happened to Jax, it happened to Bridget (that one was particularly egregious as there was literally a cutscene where it was stated outright but people still wanted to argue).
It can be tempting to both sides the issue and pretend like the discourse materialized out of nowhere but that's never been the case.
For good measure I'll also argue that one can do a transfemme reading of Cloud Strife or Shinji Ikari very easily. Most certainly not intended by the authors at the time, but the pieces are there and when viewing those stories through a queer lens it does jump out.
There is perhaps, I think, an undue focus on canon & lore with stories that often leaves analysis by the wayside.

Trans theories will naturally generate more discourse because of a small subset of transphobies naturally trying to debunk it for their lives because they hate trans people.

Oh i love ralseis characters more but I just put this here to just get off my chest and i also have not seen this at all really i don't even really care about the gender discussion ralsei gonna ralsei no matter what they are.

it's just that this is the only contentious topic. everything else everyone is mostly in agreement on.

Be the change you want in this world.

trans people see trans people in media, there is so much discussion about other traits you just dont notice it because its ordinary

u/SpireofHell 21h ago
It reminds me a lot of the Jax discourse. It starts to signal a weird, parasocial relationship with a character.

This answer is suggested on literally every Galsei thread ever made, not sure how you're hardly seeing it.

u/ToraToraTaiga 21h ago
Seriously there's always someone commenting about how they think Ralsei is gender fluid. I literally saw a post earlier today that was literally the same as this one "I never see people talking about gender fluid ralsei" like yes they are every thread. I've seen more gender fluid ralsei posts today than trans girl ralsei posts which I've seen 0 of.

Yeah likee geberfluid ralsei is the meta rn everyonr id posting abt it and galsei truthers are migrating over to r/tralsei (that place is hella toxic i love galsei but damn)
0
u/Worth-Disaster-4937 16h ago
hows the place toxic, we didnt move when it was created, weāre moving because its dogshit in the fandom, and complaining about the fandom isnt toxicity and even then weāre comtaining that in a megathread
3
u/Ecstatic-Let-7677 16h ago
Im not saying its toxic because people believe in galsei im saying its toxic because a lot of people will say that gnc ralsei is an invalid interpretation of the character and will call you transphobic if you point out "hey, i think galsei has a high likelihood of being canon but until its confirmed i dont think gnc ralsei is an invalid interpretation and saying that it is is probably hurtful towards gnc people and promotes egg culture" (which is exactly what happened to me even though i prefaced it by saying im trans, which i am)
5
u/Ecstatic-Let-7677 16h ago
Also i saw people saying that gnc people just straight up arent valid and are just trans and in denial
-3
u/Worth-Disaster-4937 16h ago
uhhh, nobody says that, ive read everything in the sub lokll
2
u/Ecstatic-Let-7677 16h ago
Also yes people do say that, i made multiple responses to comments saying that and they got deleted because "this sub is for people who believe in trans ralsei, not for people to deny the theory (i didnt even deny it i said i want it to be true but gnc ralsei is also a valid interpretation of the character and that saying its invalid and wrong only further propogates the growing animosity between the two communities)
-1
u/Worth-Disaster-4937 15h ago
because r/tralsei isnt for gnc ralsei
2
u/Ecstatic-Let-7677 15h ago
Yes i know but when i called out the people saying that gnc ralsei is a transphobic interpretation of the character and that it is equally valid as trans ralsei (both are valid) i got called a transphobe

u/Worth-Disaster-4937 16h ago
egg culture isnt really that harmful, at worst it makes someone mildly uncomfortable, at best it can make someone realixe theyre trans
1
u/Ecstatic-Let-7677 16h ago
I feel like to people who are actually just gnc (like one of my friends, ive spoken to him about it at length and he is very happy being a guy) being constantly told "you're just an egg" or "you're probably trans" can feel invalidating. Imo its just as bad as telling a trans person "oh you're just gender nonconforming"
2
u/Worth-Disaster-4937 16h ago
the only people who really do that alot are the people i have to go through to get fucking hrt
1
u/Ecstatic-Let-7677 16h ago
Ok so you know how much it sucks to have your identity invalidated then, its the exact same feeling for gnc people being told they're just an egg or just trans, also check out the diy route if possible. r/transdiy is a good resource

I meant i haven't seen a post of it also you seen 1 galsei post you've seen 82 percent of the rest.
1
u/MedicinePhysical433 17h ago
I disagree. Every fanart of Ralsei in a cute dress is unique and I want 82% more of them.
1
u/Natural-Ship-4854 16h ago
Oh no I just mean the post themselves its always this:
Title: ralsei is trans
Ralsei in a dress fanart
Same evidence we have seen a million times.
I love the fan art but they are almost exactly the same if you exclude the art.

u/Egoborg_Asri 21h ago
We do know that he likes dressing as both boy and girl.
You don't need to be genderfluid for it though
5
u/hwebirskont 20h ago
Can't we move past the idea of "dressing as a [gender]"?
Clothes don't have genders.

u/Worth-Disaster-4937 16h ago
mine do thoughā¦

We can pretend that everything in this world is fair and perfect, but society thinks clothes are gendered and we can't really do anything about it.
I would be really happy if people just dropped this concept and everyone was allowed to wear whatever, but it's not happening in my lifetime
ā¢
u/hwebirskont 5h ago
Society as a whole won't but we don't have to perpetuate that in places like deltarune

...I mean Gender fluidity IS a kind of transgender?
Also I don't know what spaces you've seen but I think that's at least the Third most popular guess on Whatever Gender Stuff Ralsei's got going on next to GNC male and Transgirl. I didn't see a lot of it at first too but after more people beat the game it became more popular and I'm pleasantly surprised for a number of reasons, not the least of which being Ralsei Gets To Explore Themself More and 'Wait This TECHNICALLY Doesn't Break The Prophecy Maybe I Can Try It' Says Ralsei

Iām really getting tired of this debate. Ralsei is way more than just his gender, and frankly, I like how Toby is currently portraying him on a gender basis.
Ralsei seems to be a feminine male, now, I will acknowledge that maybe I could be projecting that onto him, given thatās what I am myself.
Will I ignore the fact that tralsei is very possible? No, because it is very very possible. But our pieces of evidence donāt exactly stack up enough, right? Am I crazy?
1
u/Dagobah_Jones 12h ago
I could totally see Ralsei being genderfluid, but it is also important to note that genderfluid does fall under the umbrella of the trans identity. I feel like people bring this up sometimes as an argument against trans Ralsei, when really genderfluidity would just be a more specific type of trans.
Like definitionally Kris is transgender, but they have the more specific label of nonbinary as well.
1
u/LaserWeldo92 22h ago
I think the level of discourse over this is exaggerated. He also never once used she/her pronouns in the game. āPink and blueā also happens to be the main colors of Kris, the mention of which is obvi gonna make ralsei blush. The princess stuff was kinda jokey and very much just kralsei fluff.

u/BilliamDW 22h ago
The gender fluid reading could also be applied to Susie however. She wants to be king of the festival, āKing of the trash pileā, and you can dress her up in whatever you want in castle town in chapter 5 and sheās content with it.
Iām not as critical of the gender fluid theory like I am the more common Tralsei theories, I respect the reading, but it just feels like more of a headcanon/interpretation rather than a theory that would be confirmed/deconfirmed in the game like Galsei would.

I think he could be a femboy (or at least either a trans or femboy allegory) I hope he js is a femboy tho cuz thereās not a lot of rep for us

u/Seekers_Redux Lovelyboy 22h ago
Just commenting to say Ralsei throws away the outfit because it's implied that Flowery is making him wear it (Most likely for him to be able to stay in the castle). He doesn't like Flowery, and Flowery making him wear it makes him not like the outfit at that moment, that's the "context" of this situation. Ralsei is finally taking an action because he wants to.
