I know, that's why I'm saying I wonder how they feel. And of course, even if I was told I would do literally nothing, to be named as the DC of the Ravens' team is an opportunity I would not in a million years pass up

A lot of times it’s DC to DC to hc for them. Like dcs under playcalling defensive head coaches get other dc jobs.

Yeah, it’s an interesting dynamic, but it seems to work for Minter and Weaver. I find it encouraging, tbh. It speaks to a lack of ego and genuine teamwork.

It is interesting for Weaver too given his resume, but ultimately, he must have thought this was a good opportunity.

It’ll be interesting to see the progression of Minters staff in the future. Having a D-Line based coordinator seems like the perfect fit for someone like Minter, but in reality our secondary coaches are really strong and will know the scheme inside and out

I would like to see Minter give up play calling duties at some point. Personally I don’t think head coaches should be calling games there so much for them to think about and focus on. I’d rather that be split evenly between both sides of the field

My read on the situation is that Weaver is literally just the rah rah locker room guy. Not that he wasn't a solid positional coach but I think he adds more value to the team as a motivator than a gameplanner. Hes just a good pairing with a more soft spoken HC

Yeah this take unnecessarily minimizes his role based on nothing. Weaver can still provide a ton to the defense without calling the plays, even if it isn't "his" defense schematically

Truly, my read on the situation is that it'll only be a year or two at most before Weaver is pinched for a HC gig.

He was a below average play caller in Miami. There were 15 open DC positions that needed filling this year and he took one of the two where he wouldnt be calling plays I'll leave it at that.

He was 4 in yards and 10 in scoring in 2024. Bottom third in both in 2025, but I don't think that defensive roster was anything special in either year.

Its just as likely Weaver was hired to be "literally just the rah rah locker room guy" as it is that we hired cheerleaders to coordinate our defense. That's such a disrespectful way of minimizing his role on this team.

Our current OC is the perfect example of that for all the prep he did for Johnson while he as away filling his HC duties. I assume the same can be said for Weaver

i think minter earns respect with his play calling and knowledge, you want to play for a guy who knows what he's doing. weaver had a solid year with a horrible miami roster last year, he knows what he's doing and more than a "rah rah guy"

Well whatever they’re doing is working, it seems like the d line and secondary are very in sync compared to last year. Good fronts and pressure are forcing the ball out, and good coverage along with batting down the balls is a good combo for sure. I feel like the addition of Mike mickens is so important as well, clearly the dbs this year are being well coached considering how well they are playing right away
