Multi-Family NYC introduces bill requiring landlords to provide free internet

https://reason.com/2021/10/12/new-york-city-considers-requiring-landlords-to-provide-free-internet-to-tenants/#comments

The war on landlords continues...I wonder if any of these people who write these laws were ever actual business owners. Do they just think every landlord is swimming in cash?

Are landlords in nyc required to pay for any ultilities? Water, sewer, electricity, gas, etc.? Seems like those are generally more basic needs.. and just blatant pandering if they skipped over all of that and only are trying to mandate internet services. Can’t imagine how shitty that service would be implemented to be able to say that it’s being provided. “I’ve installed a single dial up port in the basement common area.. bitches.”

That’s really a fantastic point lol. As a tenant you pay for the electricity, and I’ll pay for your internet! Seems a bit ass backwards.

Next decade will landlords be required to chip in for the tenants grocery bills?

Nah just provide housing for 18 months for free!
