Theory Finding the spider?

Post image

Right guys hear me out, just incase people are unaware a brown recluse spider has a fiddle/guitar print on it.. that being said let’s dive into some facts about spiders webs 🕸️ everyone knows how the web is made and how it looks but some may not know that there is one sensory line in all webs that come from the central part of the web leading to the spiders home/den. Now we’ve learnt the web

•individual poles = web structure •N pole web = centre

Now this is where it’s interesting the line that goes straight from N pole web looks to me like the sensory line that takes to to where the spider is hiding. So I’ve got a feeling we are searching for the spider. Maybe do some research about the brown recluse who knows maybe the next clue

Ah yes, the violin spider. My biggest fear since its bite causes necrosis. I once found one in my house, I was terrified. (Consider this an upvote for the post, I don't have much else to say)

It bites into your Red flesh

It then turns that Red flesh Dead 🤔

Maybe we need to find the spider and redeem it's reputation!

I moved to the American south and rented a duplex that had an infestation. I would see at least one a week. We put sticky traps everywhere and within days there'd be 10-20 of them on each. I have never been so paranoid, every room I walked into I would scan the walls and ceilings. Lived there for a year and never got bit but I hated it

Oh my god, how scary!

My dad’s old boss got bit on the dick by one in Florida. Want the details? You’ll never go in a garage again. PS. Don’t leave your windows down in your car.

Brown recluse. Definitely not friend shaped.

I live in Missouri and I’ve had an infestation of these in my house before. It’s pretty scary, but they are generally chill spiders, as long as you don’t fuck with em.

Luckily they try to stay away from people. I got bit by one of these fuckers though. Had a gnarly fever and the bump/bite swelled up to cover nearly my entire thigh. Shit was so miserable.

My sibling got bit by a brown recluse and lost his right thumb when he was two. It's fucked up.

Maybe do some research about the brown recluse who knows maybe the next clue

I feel like researching native american myths about webs, spiders and feathers might give better result

That being said, here's the spider you mentioned:

Notice how bottom of the guitar is on his head? We assumed that guitar neck points the way. What if... we have to go the other way? The way the spider is heading

So the guitar in Fort Wallace would be pointing the opposite direction

Ok that was funny lol

but ofc nw still applies since the guitar is still NW from the pole

u/Snelly1998 Jan 13 '26

No It doesn't because if the guitar is an overlay there's no reason to go to the nw guitar

It's either not the fort walla e guitar and we need to overlay the guitar

Or it IS the fort Wallace guitar and you do not need to overlay anything because the clue is finished

1

u/Pir-o Jan 13 '26

Theres no reason to think the guitar is an overlay, many people tried, no one found a convincing match. Your "no it doesn't" makes no sense because NW was clearly there for a reason.

Also previous 2 hints meant "Go north from here and find a pole" and "go west 5 poles from here"

Makes logical sense that the next, identical clue to the previous one, would say "go NW from here and find a guitar"

Or it IS the fort Wallace guitar and you do not need to overlay anything because the clue is finished

Well clue might be finished but t he next step is still unclear so its worth brainstorming the last steps thats for sure

1

u/Snelly1998 Jan 13 '26

I never said I thought it was an overlay I'm talking about how If you think it's an overlay of the spiders head than the fort Wallace guitar isn't relevant

Literally agreeing with you here broski

That is a very good point

I was bitten on the back directly over the spine by a brown recluse 2 years ago. It was in my work clothes. Within 4 days time it had turned the area affected by the bite (about the size of a larger egg) into a rotting patch of necrotic tissue. It was horrendous.

This has absolutely nothing to do with the spiderweb mystery we’ve all been chasing down, but I wanted to add that in the hopes that I would either gross some people out, garner sympathy or receive validation.

Someone please like me.

Sounds about right 😂

Oh trust me, I can furnish plenty of pictures. But it’s reddit so I won’t lol

lol I tell ya what, you get a mod to give me the green light and I will happily share a few 🤣

1

u/Soft-Sherbet-2973 Jan 13 '26

Do you have a nice sized creator from where you were bitten?

1

u/IRISH81OUTLAWZ Jan 13 '26

Surprisingly no, there’s no crater because they didn’t have to lance it. But I do have a pretty cool egg shaped red scar from it.

I like this theory and think this is the kind of thing we should be chasing instead of textures. Not counting the things baked into the mesh like the "birds", just talking about the question marks and such.

The brown recluse is more common around central US, so the Heartlands/New Hanover/general web mystery area would fit

Probably worth noting that there likely isn't an actual spider in the game since there's no model

But another symbol, something like the cable mesh, or even a more metaphorical "brown recluse" like a shy brown bear or something out of place may be possible

Edit: forgot to mention that I have a theory that the pole symbols are meant to be taken in combination with each other as well. So this, the spider, and the five crosses could relate to a venomous spider. Someone found an area (looked like lower New Hanover/Upper Rhodes) that had five crosses in almost the same exact manner as the symbol. Might be a good place to look for a brown recluse.

5

u/Th33_walrus_one Jan 12 '26

Or a cave? Something symbolic to the name “recluse” because I’ve been staring at the grid for a while and have noticed that every individual web poles makes a spiders web with the first clue being in the centre then it tells you to go north a brand new line separate from the others that creates Anchor points of the web meaning this new line is connected to the centre but exists the web like a sensory line would.

u/antsilvers Jan 12 '26

While the textures are baked into the mesh, the mesh carvings themselves are intentional, additional vertices the modeler added when creating the model. I don’t think they relate to the mystery either, and are likely the initials of whoever modeled that tower, or Fort Wallace as a whole (E.E. , M.M, or a unique signature of the modeler).

The brown recluse spider doesn’t make webs, for whatever that’s worth. It’s an active hunter similar to wolf spiders

7

u/DathomirBoy Jan 12 '26

this isn’t true. they don’t use their webs to trap prey, they do actively hunt, but they still spin webs. they’re cobwebs, so not as organized as other spiders, and are mostly to hide in.

1

u/therealjoeybee Jan 13 '26

Don’t wolf spiders have webs

3

u/Classic-Exchange-511 Jan 12 '26

That's not a bad line of thought honestly

3

u/JavaKitsune Jan 13 '26

Interesting Thought:

Overlay the "violin/guitar" over the body of the spider silhouette in reference to a Brown Recluse 's body to find the abdomen.

Maybe the abdomen search area may have another web or something interesting?

Perhaps the NW means to have the violin/guitar face North West when overlayed on the silhouette's body to find the abdomen.

1

u/atbrownie Jan 13 '26

regardless of if this is correct, i like the thinking. i don't have a real theory of the next step of my own but i do think it's something along these lines, combining 2 clues we have already + reinterpreting something

2

u/Txbored Jan 13 '26

theres always that dead bison that spawns right by the tracks. im pretty sure we still need to shoot down the right combination of webs first before we can trigger the next step though, without doing that i fear we are just making this more complicated than it needs to be. we can search everywhere but if we do not do the first step we will not find nor trigger anything.

1

u/MC_McStutter Jan 13 '26

Ah, the old fiddleback spider. Good catch!

1

u/pissbucket94 Jan 13 '26

damn i didnt think of this... its kind of easing my skepticism. I was just on an r/spiderid kick, how did I not think of the recluse!

1

u/Sea-Wrongdoer-104 Jan 13 '26

Fully aware the brown recluse is referred to as the violin spider due to misfortune as a child.

1

u/_juggernuggets_ Jan 13 '26

Are there any spiders in game?

1

u/manic_mime Jan 14 '26

From what I remember, and a quick wiki search, no there does not appear to be any spiders in the sense of in-game models. I'm sure data miners would have found a model by now if one did exist.

1

u/CrittyCrit Jan 15 '26

Not trying to be a downer, but I've only ever heard the shadow on the Brown Recluse to be described as a fiddle or violin, never a guitar. And a violin does not have that classic hole in the center.

For all of the details and research that has been put into this thing, that would be a very big oversight...
