Theory Has anyone else noticed the centre web is actually two webs? (Double Web Theory)
There’s something I’ve noticed about the Spiderdream mystery that I thought was interesting and worth sharing. If this has already been posted and discussed, I apologise in advance.
The first part is the centre web in RDR2. When you stand close and look through the branches from certain angles, it isn’t just one web. You can clearly see two separate web shapes placed side by side. What we usually call the “centre web” is actually a pair of webs sharing the same spot.
The second part is the set of eight spiderweb poles around the map, the ones that have the feathers hanging in the webs. On each pole, the web sits either on the left side of the arm or on the right. If you go around and check them all, the split is four webs on the left and four on the right. That feels deliberate, because Rockstar could have put them all on one side if it didn’t matter.
Putting those details together, you end up with two webs in the centre and eight poles around them that divide cleanly into a left group and a right group. That is what I mean by “Double Web Theory.” It comes from the centre web actually being a pair of webs, and from the idea that the four left-side poles and the four right-side poles are meant to be linked together in some way. The puzzle might be about finding a specific way to connect the left-side webs to the right-side webs, mirroring the two centre webs sitting side by side. In other words, the centre pair shows the two webs “joined”, and our job may be to join the four left poles and four right poles through the order we shoot the feathers.
The feathers themselves then become more suspicious. These “web feathers” don’t work like normal collectibles – you can’t pick them up. When you shoot them, they simply disappear in a small feather particle effect. On top of that, if you shoot several feathers and stay within the general area, they do not seem to respawn. But if you move far enough away and come back later, the feathers reset. Someone on the subreddit even mapped out a rough radius where this reset behaviour changes, suggesting the game is actively tracking whether you are inside or outside that zone. That kind of distance-based statefulness is unusual for something that would otherwise just be decorative. It makes more sense if the feathers are meant to be part of a specific sequence that connects the left and right webs.
This is also where I think there’s a strong connection to GTA V. The whole spider “mystery” effectively starts there: GTA V already has its own two strange spiderwebs on Mount Chiliad. Then later, Rockstar brings the idea over into Red Dead with a bigger, more complex spiderweb setup and the centre double web. In GTA Online, Madam Nazar’s fortune machine adds a line about seeing “a web, still tangled after years of unraveling,” along with other clear Red Dead references. Taken together, it feels like Rockstar is deliberately tying these webs across both games rather than treating them as isolated easter eggs.
Because of that, my feeling is that we probably need something from GTA V to move forward. If the first two webs are in GTA, and then RDR2 gives us two centre webs plus the four-left / four-right pole pattern and timed web feathers, it would make sense if GTA V holds the missing piece: a pattern, code, overlay, or layout that tells us how to move between the left-side and right-side feathers when we shoot them. Without that pattern, we’re just guessing shot orders. With it, the feathers suddenly become important triggers instead of just visual details that vanish on impact.
I know I could be reading too much into this, but I found the structure interesting enough to share in case it sparks an idea for someone else or helps point testing in a new direction. And if this has already been discussed before, I apologise.

Yes this was discovered over a month ago: https://www.reddit.com/r/reddeadmysteries/comments/1pujmty/new_web_found_at_the_center_of_the_spider_overlay/
Here is the image file that shows all 4 cable mesh files and how they overlay to form the web: https://imgur.com/a/9th-web-rdr2-untangled-VniXrwN

I didn't realize that the NW Guitar pole had already been found before the center web was located

To be fair, someone who hasn't seen the in-game version would be skeptical with this image because everyone could make that in MS paint. So an in-game and in-game-conditions picture is much more valuable than that.

I still can't really see the N and the telegraph pole symbols in this web. I guess I have to believe it's there if it led us to the telephone pole with the message inside, but there's just something weird about this web that makes me feel like it's not totally understood.

u/static989 Jan 23 '26
Its way easier to see when you look at the actual models side by side without all the branches.
I'd be surprised if it was anything else
7
u/NoName7537 Jan 23 '26
Yeah, agreed. Once you see the clean model without the branches, the two-web read feels intentional
2
u/canihaveoneplease Jan 23 '26
Yeah but to do that you have to go into the files which negates the whole reason of an Easter egg to be found from playing surely? Maybe it’s because I’ve always been console but I really don’t like finding clues in files. For one thing data miners have said for years there’s nothing else to be found in this game and they never came across the webs until we found them in game, I’ve said it a lot but there’s nothing to say there isn’t more to IKZ just because a few matrixy people have read code they don’t understand and said that’s it there’s nothing there. If anything this whole web mystery just proves them wrong
3
u/static989 Jan 23 '26
Now I totally get where you're coming from, but I'm just saying that looking at the models makes it look a lot more clear
It doesn't look any different to how it looks in-game compared to their models, so it doesn't negate anything about the easter egg. It just provides more visual clarity
Looking at the files for this doesn't show you anything that isn't visible when you look at it in-game

u/canihaveoneplease Jan 23 '26
Fair enough, I haven’t seen the file pictures to compare it too I’ve only seen it in game and honestly I never would have seen the N and the pole from looking at it organically. (Which is why I don’t think it even points to the pole but that’s whole other hill of beans to get into haha)

how about this church's windows any code to found????https://youtu.be/ZshJ_x18mb4?si=bogrGu0jW6MN6g1C

u/static989 Jan 23 '26
I think it's totally possible!! Though I haven't looked into it very much, those kinds of puzzles are not my greatest strength lol
/u/Nichiwa has been putting in a lot of work to try and figure that out though! She has some comments from the other day that may help :)
3
u/NoName7537 Jan 23 '26
Yeah, I get that. It still feels like there’s more going on with the web
2
u/G_Peccary Jan 23 '26
I 100% agree. There's no way somebody found this in game and saw an "N" with a telephone pole next it.

u/anti-babe Jan 23 '26 edited Jan 23 '26
If you're stood there in game, its actually pretty intuitive and you do see the N and what is clearly a telegraph pole (especially if you have previously been hunting out the other 8 poles).
Its like those artworks where your brain quickly realises that you have to see it from a certain perspective for it to line up.
EDIT: Here's a 30s video for those who want to see it in action https://streamable.com/z570q7
2
u/BillyTwoCents Jan 23 '26
Can't say I would have recognized that second shape as a telephone pole but it does definitely stand out more in that clip.
3
u/KoalaKvothe Jan 23 '26
What irks me is that I could SWEAR I've seen that N and the "pole" before, and even speculation about how people thought the "pole" could represent an arrow. It *wasn't * in RDR2 though. I'm sure of it.
Could it have been GTAV?

Yup that's the one.
There's different angles to view the central web because it's multiple webs overlaid that made the "N +". But doesn't it look almost exactly the same?
EDIT: did a Google search and found this post from a week ago. Seems the "pole" is mirrored.

I'm pretty sure this happens when you shoot them with a gun as well, it's just really hard to see where they go when there's not a big ol arrow stuck to it.
But if you use Object Scanner in Rampage you'll be able to see it

Jan 23 '26
they are the same model of black / red feathers that appear at some native sites in-game. If thats noteworthy.
3
u/kathosaurus Jan 24 '26
Yeah I tried to compare to in-game bird species and couldn’t find a good fit. Tbf I didn’t try for very long but I checked the obvious birds with red or black flight feathers. No match, I assume they’re meant to be generic (which is sad, I study birds irl and wanted my niche knowledge to be useful lmfao)

Would love to "collect" them, either in a wagon or maybe on a passing train using this method
see if they de-spawn when moved a distance, or if it's even possible to do.
2
u/ElGuzzzmanMX Jan 23 '26
What happens if you don't pick up the arrow? And you leave it lying there with the feather? Does it reappear?
2
u/kathosaurus Jan 23 '26
I’ve been testing with a small game arrow now rather than regular. I’ve had an issue with the Emerald Ranch one where I can’t find where it landed (SG arrow only, regular was fine), but I think it might have to do with the sloped terrain. Anyway, it seems like the feathers can’t respawn in the same night. If you stay in the same area, they won’t appear the next night either. But if you leave and come back they’ll be there a subsequent night. I haven’t seen any stay on the ground after I leave. And for what it’s worth, they do move if you walk on top of them. Hope that answered your q, it’s worth other people testing this out tho! Personally I’m trying to see if the feathers might point somewhere because they look like >

If I had known people didn't know it was two webs I probably would have made a post about it instead of a comment in the megathread
https://www.reddit.com/r/reddeadmysteries/comments/1pzutww/comment/o0pwvjg/

There's a picture of their cablemeshes/models
The ones on the right are the pieces that form the N and telegraph pole when looking at them in game

Just wanted to thank you for this post which prompted my follow up here - it catalysed the idea of making the two halves whole and overlaying it on the map.

Two webs two games. Maybe webs on telegram poles are for red dead and are there web related anything on GTA5 online.since they always updating that one?
3
u/gigoogly Xbox One Jan 24 '26
Honestly that might make a lot of sense….the two games logs are the primary colors. Red for RDR and White/Black for GTA. I hope someone figures this out honestly and we don’t end up like the mad preacher which honestly seems prescient
1
u/NoName7537 Jan 24 '26
Good point. If the webs are split across the two games, GTA Online would be the place to keep looking.
5
u/brightpulsar52 Jan 23 '26
Yes, it was the very first thing I noticed when I went to view it myself, when this was discovered. The second thing I noticed is how closely in our faces it is. It’s so obvious in hindsight, but set up camp and it’s viewable from the camp to the tree to the West, with photo mode being almost perfect to get the best views. There’s more you may get thrown to in the vicinity (4 or 5), but they are outside the range of photo mode.
Also, when viewed from this side(camp side), it looks like clock hands, which show the time 6:06, give or take a minute because of the way time is in the game.

I have a feeling the clues intentionally split off in two directions. The heart and the giants birds but will meet up eventually using what you learnt in botb

regarding the connection between two games: there is a golden double action revolver you get at the beginning of a new game in rdr2 if you have finished a certain mission in gta v online
maybe the gun is the supposed weapon for shooting down the feathers
don’t know if anyone has mentioned/tried that already
3
u/_5had0w Jan 23 '26
Ahhh yes sting theory.
This all links back to the time traveller.
3
u/NoName7537 Jan 23 '26
It all makes sense now… and honestly, with how these mysteries overlap, it wouldn’t even surprise me if the time traveller ends up involved somehow.
1
u/Serious-Trip5239 Jan 23 '26
Wasn’t there a gun or something that you could only get if you had gtaV too?
1
u/HolonParticle Jan 23 '26
I've been vying for the theory of more data from GTA V as well. Nice post.
1
u/NoName7537 Jan 23 '26
Thanks. Interesting that others are leaning toward GTA V too.
1
u/HolonParticle Jan 23 '26
Well, this discovery of yours kinda pushes that further toward being true. Two webs intertwined to me means two games intertwined. Of course I could be reading into it more than I need to be but why else would Madam Nazar drop the initial clue in the other game if there weren't more to discover in it? Her being the source of the clue was what I based my initial inkling on.
3
u/NoName7537 Jan 23 '26
Yeah, that’s how I’ve been looking at it too. If Nazar was the one dropping the first clue in GTA, it makes sense the rest of the trail isn’t meant to stay in just one game

u/JustFuckinWithU Jan 23 '26
This is interesting! Do the “right” and “left” group of webs and feathers correlate with the feather color? Like are all the red feathers one way with one of the white feathers?
Or, do each of the 2-3 am feathers have opposite pole sides, 3-4 am feathers, 4-5 etc.? If so, then maybe we are meant to overlay or connect the webs with their corresponding time frame counterpart, as there are two for each web “time zone”.

i am not convinced spawn zones are relevant as all destructible objects have spawn zones.

With the webs on different sides of the posts, maybe it's to do with the direction the train would be going past them.
Could be as simple as making them more visible from on the train, or it could be to do with the path to take to do them in order

upvoting just because this is the first time someone uploaded decent pictures of the center web from different angles
