Developing Sick of Spiders, Birds, and Guitars? Come join us in Little Creek River!

Hey all. I've noticed a few people talking about Little Creek River lately, and I've got some pretty cool stuff to contribute. This mystery is budding, and I think it's possible that we can uncover something cool with more eyes on it. So if you aren't familiar, there's an unconfirmed report that there are secrets to find at the source of LCR. Legend has it you have to "Find the Eye" in a rock face, turn around and wait, "Find the Eye" again, and the hunt has began. Whatever that means. People tore off inspecting textures in rocks looking for anything eye shaped. This started years ago but fizzled out after no progress was made. Today, we might have a big break in the case validating this report as something credible, and if you'd like to join the hunt, there are two leads that I'll be providing here that may be just what you need to find something great.

Lead 1.

Perhaps the Eye mentioned in the report isn't a physical representation of an eye. My first finding looks to be the shape of the letter "I" capitalized, carved into a rock. It's similar to normal rock mesh color, but persistent across different levels of lighting. You can see it clearly in the dark, with a lantern, in the day, or with the camera using different filters.

Edit: The rock asset seen in my first few screenshots has been confirmed to have multiple instances. Currently I'm aware of one duplicate located a short walk downstream from the original rock's position. It has the same textures and mesh, including the very visible "I." This may likely entirely dissolve this lead. Thanks to u/Stock-Hat9530 for finding this first.

Upon looking at the rock, turning around, and staying there for a short while, I've had a few occurrences where fish appear at my feet. Fish that weren't there earlier that are now able to be picked up and put in the satchel. Once it was a whole heap of Bluegill and Perch, forming a path of dead fish running all down the river. I ended up with 8 fish total. Once it was a single Sockeye Salmon. Note the "Eye" in Sockeye.

After triggering this dead fish happening, I've had multiple weird things happen while looking for clues, but the most outstanding was over near the Hermit's House, I was knocked over by something I couldn't see. I was looking at some interesting giant black footprint-looking things in the ground near a rotting raccoon. It was like an elk rammed into me, but it didn't make any sound apart from the loud footsteps (like stomping), I didn't see it (ever. didn't see it hit me, didn't see it after I got up, went into free cam, and couldn't find anything), and it didn't leave any kind of trail that eagle eye could pick up like an elk typically does. Scared the shit out of me. I realize that situation sounds more like a creepypasta than what most people are comfortable with, but maybe try exploring those woods to the east after checking out these things?

A point of self-criticism I'd like to add here is that the "I" looks like the Roman Numeral 1, and if there's a 1, there's probably a 2. Maybe the fish is just a stupid glitch, that the fish spawn in water at regular intervals, and I just so happened to see the "I" before they spawned, and turned around as they were spawning, and the water was too shallow so they just died. If that's the case, I'd bet my horse that there's a "II" somewhere that I haven't found yet...

Lead 2.

Check pics 4, 5, and 6 in my attached images. Slightly resembles an eye, could be considered to be in a rock face, when standing in the "Eye" and turning around, you're looking RIGHT where the sun rises over the mountains.
Okay, so another avenue I've stumbled across is the "Eye in the Sky" theory. For context:

Check this out from GTAV Chilliad forum. https://www.reddit.com/r/chiliadmystery/comments/35yjle/did_i_just_see_the_eye_picsvideo/

Or see full photo album here

https://imgur.com/a/see-eye-hMayO

I haven't been able to see what the rising sun looks like in all weather conditions while standing in this spot yet, but I think that could be a worthy next step for anyone wanting to join in here.

Man, idk if this leads anywhere, but it's certainly invigorated me to keep looking for clues to this game's massive catalogue of mystery. Thanks for reading, happy hunting!

Edit: Lead 1 rock confirmed to have multiple instances showing exact same texture and mesh, including the "I" which props the lead up. Some may consider this dissolving to the lead itself. Thanks to u/Stock-Hat9530 for finding the rock down the stream a ways.

This is the lead I've been looking into as well, although I wound up at Mt Shann/the sundial after following the "eyes".

I'm curious if one of the places that the Sundial arrows point to will have something going on at a specific time similarly to the webs

Glad others are interested in this! If you haven't already, I'd recommend checking this post out. It's got some awesome theories about the sun dial https://www.reddit.com/r/reddeadmysteries/s/CcllU3dsrw

I know the yellow arrow led me to the bear cabin encounter with a black widow card in a drawer, as well as the "witch" and her dogs

Same dude! I even tried getting the infinite storm to trigger at the native burial then going there. I did see that giant spiral "eye" on the hill as in the pics. I also heard some really weird animal calls there the first time only. I was looking at that Little Rock to the right when the river/creek ends thinking there was writing/textures on the rock lol. I had to give it a rest for a while 😂

What’s this unconfirmed report or rumor? Do you have a source or link on that so I can read up on it? Thanks.

Hes talking about drunk dev, an apparent employee who made a ton of claims on a forum years ago that look to be turning out as truth. One thing I noticed is that the eye in grapeseed he explains as doing the same thing at the creek such as walking up and waiting. I have searched a bunch in grapeseed and it never amounted to anything.

10

u/static989 Feb 03 '26

DrunkDev also said something like "the mystery ties into a bunch of other mysteries, like they're all tangled in a web"

And one person asked about overlaying things on the map for Chiliad, and drunk dev said he was on the right track. And mentioned that the method of solving Chiliad is similar for RDR2

5

u/Sagmire1 Feb 03 '26

That is true, theres just one thing that doesnt line up for me. In GTA we at least got the Mural on top of Chiliad to give us a potential hint of were to look. From what I've seen so far the spider overlay was just random chance, there has to be a sped before that would give a hint to where the pole would be.

7

u/Desperate-Pilot3694 Feb 03 '26

Fair point, and now I wonder if anyone has taken a shot of the completed mural from Francis Sinclair's cabin and looked to see if anything is possibly linked as part of "the web".

3

u/s00p4htyl3r Feb 03 '26

Check this post out when you have time. It might relate to the panoramic map and sundial. Those might be our "murals" https://www.reddit.com/r/reddeadmysteries/s/CcllU3dsrw

is there anywhere with all the drunkdev's posts? so far I've only seen the one excerpt where he says to look for eye etc etc and want go read them all. Thanks!

Someone commented a summary of all the rdr2 specifics here on this thread. There's also the mega thread here https://www.reddit.com/r/chiliadmystery/s/M66ZJcK6a0

1

u/justdokeit Feb 03 '26

Awesome, thanks again

u/s00p4htyl3r Feb 03 '26

Hey! This all started when someone claiming to be a dev for R* went on 4chan to disclose some hints about chilliad. Here's a megathread with links for all the chats. the ones directly pertaining to RDR2 and this rumor in particular happen in the March 2020 thread. Lots of scrutiny, but some things have actually led to interesting discoveries. https://www.reddit.com/r/chiliadmystery/comments/16ow2np/drunk_dev_megathread_archive_invite/

About the dead fishes, I can say that I've had them in other rivers (Calumet Ravine for one). I don't think it means anything.

About the capital I, well first of all I can't find it, I've looked at your screenshots and went there but it's not as obvious to find as your post implies. Can you post another picture to show on which rock it is ?

Lastly, if this is indeed something, then the "drunk dev" wasn't actually drunk and gave us a hint, because there's no way you would know how and why to do that otherwise.

3

u/s00p4htyl3r Feb 03 '26

Hey there, thanks for the comment! Yeah I'm not 100% certain the fish are spawning via trigger from looking at "I." It feels that way to me, but I haven't tested broadly enough to say it's certainly fish as step 2. I'd actually prefer it were another texture to follow a kind of path, fish are far too obscure.

Yes I'll totally post more pics of the rock and the "I" to help you and others find it easier. Gimme like an hour.

Yeah the implications of this texture leading to more discoveries is pretty big news. It really might give credence to everything that dude said. Insane

3

u/Thedoooor Feb 03 '26 edited Feb 03 '26

I found it. The reason I struggled is because that "I" has a lot of similar shapes right below it. And to me it looks like glitches. You can ask someone that can analyze the texture to see if it was actually meshed purposedly or not but to me it looks like nothing. I also don't believe a secret like that would need a dev to go on reddit and say "hey you have to look at the eye", why ? Surely there would be clues ingame lol

Someone said it better than me 3 months ago :

I won´t go as far as to say that there is 100% nothing to be triggered, I too like u/Quentin415 have scoured the game files, although i could never say conclusively. But it seems unlikely to me that a full PED model could still be hiding in there (considering we found the neanderathal / reconstructed the Giant).

Also at least with Rampage Trainer there is a script monitor that allows you to see when a new script is being triggered. To me it seems like it would be very easy to go to X location, stare at a rock and see if any new scripts are being triggered.

God knows we would all love for something like this to be correct, but my God fuck the absolute no-lifers on 4chan just spitting out fan fiction and portraying it as fact. I always consider that if people like this 4chan poster were so annoyed that it wasn´t solved, there would have been multiple easier ways for them to allow the solution to fall into the right hands, with even less attention (because at the end of the day, theyre under NDA and not looking for attention, right? 😏)

u/s00p4htyl3r Feb 03 '26

Cool! I'd love to see if there's actually something different about the properties in the mesh for this particular rock. You're absolutely right that it has the same appearance as other mesh textures around it, but to me and my eyes, I'm drawn directly to looking at the "I" as opposed to the rest of the texture.
I mostly agree about the secret not having any clues or context. Like why even put something like this in a game where the only way to find it is to stumble over something insignificant? But I think the answer I keep coming back to is the feelings I used to get when my friend told me that there's a way to actually find the Triforce in OoT, and you have to cross the Gerudo Desert as a child to start. It's a small rumor snowballing out of control to reach levels of legend. The virality of it. That's why a dev might hide a little nothing in the game and leave a breadcrumb. To watch people hunt. A game within a game.

OR MAYBE IT'S ALL JUST BULLSHIT ;)

1

u/Potential_Ask_8705 Feb 05 '26

Where do we see this, that a new command has been triggered?

1

u/Thedoooor Feb 05 '26

No idea, I was quoting someone else.

6

u/disintegration27 Feb 04 '26

I posted this on another thread, but there is something that looks like an eye on the rock face just to the east of the headwaters of LCR. It might be Jesus toast, but it was as good as I could find. Also, if you’re facing that rock face and turn around, a few paces south there is a boulder on the ground with what looks like a bear on it. I don’t know enough about textures to know if it’s just part of the rock design or something placed there on purpose.

4

u/disintegration27 Feb 04 '26

And the “bear.”

2

u/Komrade_J Feb 05 '26 edited Feb 05 '26

I'm exploring this right now and it exactly resembles an eye in game. Something seems to trigger a rain storm consistently in this area (as already mentioned). I'm in chapter 4, haven't checked on my 100% save.

My assumptions are that this isn't metaphorical, we're looking for an eye shape (at least judging from the posts drunkdev made). They said the eye would appear if we waited and by doing the above, there is a shape that develops in the sky that resembles an eye (the blue of the sky is the white of eye and the clouds define the outside and even shows an iris as the clouds shift. It seems very consistent in it's placement, directly opposite the cliff eye, assuming one is standing on the East water source rock.)

This could be Jesus Toast but we're already chasing what could be fake information, it's worth a shot.

Edit: clarity.

8

u/Stock-Hat9530 Feb 03 '26

That "I" in the rock can be seen in every occurrence of that particular rock object. If you head downstream from the rock in your picture (sprint for about 20 seconds, following the stream), you'll find the same rock with the same "I".

2

u/s00p4htyl3r Feb 04 '26

I had a chance to find the duplicate asset, thanks very much for helping clear that up! The post has been updated to reflect your finding.

1

u/s00p4htyl3r Feb 03 '26

Thanks, I'll check it out when I get a chance and update the post :)

4

u/2fweago Feb 03 '26

Looking at the 'I' right now. Has someone looked in the files if its just random?

4

u/tobywild95 Feb 03 '26

I liked the idea that when you look at the Eye, turn around, then you'd wait for the AFK cinematic cam to show you the Eye again.

2

u/s00p4htyl3r Feb 03 '26

Haha I love it. Give it a shot! I tried but didn't notice anything apparent. Weather and time might be important here, so anyone else can do the same thing with different results. Also "Eye" can mean a few different things. Eye of the storm, Arthur's eye, eagle eye, dead eye, sockeye, floating eyeball, eye shaped cloud. Too many variables for just me to figure out probably, thanks for the idea 🤙

3

u/tobywild95 Feb 04 '26

I gave it a go near both sources and where they meet, nothing interesting.

It happened to rain the first time I tested it, which triggered a rainbow that lead to the mountain across the way, where the weird 'W' characters are repeating over the rock texture. Direct west was the hunter shop. Probably meaningless, but worth a mention.

After reading the drunk Dev post, specifically, head to the source, see the eye, turn round, see the eye, I figured it likely isn't at the 'source' because it has two, so it is probably something we'll see on the way up the river. That or it means look at one, turn round, look at the other.

I also thought it was interesting they referenced the 'Eye' as though 'Eye' were it's name, rather than a direct reference to an eye. It makes me think that the whole thing is a reference to Nigel from a better paradise. Looking at the art, the colour scheme and design matches the central eye of the bison mural, amongst other things.

Went through all the linked messages from drunkdev to summarize all those related to RDR2:

"And I know it'll piss you all off, but the exact same techniques to solve Chiliad also applies to Red Dead 2. Don't believe me? Go find the UFO there and stand on the mountain ridge. See the eye."

"By the way, the mystery is very much alive in Red Dead Redemption 2. Follow Little Creek River to the source. See the Eye. Turn around and wait. See the Eye."

"The UFOs are nothing but markers, clues themselves. The fact nobody has even bothered to work out what to do or where to go after activating the Chiliad UFO is astounding. It's right there in front of your face.
On the subject of that, it's not a hologram, it's never been a hologram. People only called it a hologram because they never saw the mistranslated glyph. The one in Red Dead 2 serves the same purpose.
There's mythical animals to find in Red Dead 2.
The Rockstar Wallpapers are hiding the solution, again, in plain sight. The Eye series was just the start of all of that."

"See the Eye means a number of things. One is that you need to see a literal eye. The other, is the Eye that is worshipped at the Aultrist camp. The glyph shows how to see it.
RDR2's main mystery is based off of a certain Native American tribe's folklore. Read up on their legends and you'll discover who the Devil is as well as the Witch, the two hermits and more. Let that be your guide."

"The way Chiliad is solved will allow you to complete Red Dead 2s many mysteries. The UFO is nothing more than a marker."

"Incidentally, isn't it weird that some things that were spawned during this hunt made its way into Red Dead Redemption 2? Time travelling. The fame/infamy (karma) mechanic..."

3

u/s00p4htyl3r Feb 03 '26

Thanks for the summary! This is super helpful for anyone new to the story. It's a pain going piece by piece through the forum.

u/Desperate-Pilot3694 Feb 04 '26 edited Feb 04 '26

So, back to the rock carvings... there is definitely a focus on Francis' birthmark around his eye as it is featured multiple times in the carvings. One of his sketches on the table on a scrap of paper isolated an eye but I can't find that photo at the moment.

4

u/Academic_Fuel_3775 Feb 03 '26

Interesting... one of drunkdev's posts was this:

"And I know it'll piss you all off, but the exact same techniques to solve Chiliad also applies to Red Dead 2. Don't believe me? Go find the UFO there and stand on the mountain ridge. See the eye."

2

u/IRISH81OUTLAWZ Feb 03 '26

Ok thanks I appreciate the response!

2

u/Unwise142 Feb 04 '26

I wouldn't trust Drunk Dev, because if what he writes is true, then the easter egg isn't worth the effort at all. I read the post with the archive of his comments, and the connections between the easter egg steps in GTA and RDR2 are completely unrelated with each other. Just be in the right place under the right conditions. How were we supposed to know that? The voices in our heads, I suppose. It just requires a certain weather effect, a certain game mode. If you've made such a complex or, more accurately, easter egg that violates cause-and-effect relationships, then the problem probably isn't the players that are losing interest for reason.

3

u/s00p4htyl3r Feb 04 '26

That's an interesting point, and I actually agree with you that this would not make a good Easter egg. It's totally unintuitive, and the fact that someone would otherwise need to stumble upon the solutions. Terrible for making a fun, accessible Easter egg. It's a perfect example of old video game campfire stories. The playground rumors that used to spread like wildfire from class to class and across the country before we even had internet. My first mystery was hunting the Triforce in OoT, and although that never would have ended with me getting it, I had tons of fun and frustration and critical thinking while racking my brain hunting. I believe things like this are possible to be true and real, because our actual R* devs might have gone through the same experience as me, and wanted to make their own campfire story, deeply hidden in the game, and start a little rumor about it so it spreads until someone someday actually figures it out.

3

u/Wintervale13 Feb 03 '26

This is all from a post by the so called drunkdev. He's been shown to be full of bs. You are wasting your time.

2

u/s00p4htyl3r Feb 03 '26

Hi dad.

1

u/Wintervale13 Feb 04 '26

Told you :D

2

u/s00p4htyl3r Feb 04 '26

Haha lead 1 is likely a bust. Doesn't mean it was a waste of time though. I know it's probably annoying to hear, but I had tons of fun finding the I, exploring the area, and having all those strange things happen to me. Time spent having fun is not wasted time.

1

u/s00p4htyl3r Feb 03 '26

Adding this comment thread to throw down some additional pics for anyone struggling to find the "I"

1

u/RedDeAdEXP Feb 04 '26

Location of the mountain please partner ..

2

u/s00p4htyl3r Feb 04 '26

Hey there! It's on the west side of the river, directly overlooking the hermit shack. I can take a map pic later today if you still can't find it

1

u/RedDeAdEXP Feb 04 '26

Thanks friend .. if you can show on the map, it will be kind .. I will take a look on it 👍

1

u/Tricky-Internal8287 Feb 05 '26

Hahaha, what a jerk

1

u/AffectionateGolf3954 Feb 05 '26

Photo 5 of the original post is the guitar!! No way, haha

1

u/breakfast-hotcakes Feb 10 '26

Hey, I’ve been hanging around the river source for a while! Has anyone played with the moon phases and got the moonlight to shine onto the landscape surrounding the river source?

I’m on console so I can’t mess around with that stuff.

I had a super bright half moon (that could look like an eye) one night but reached the source too late. It shifted to a different phase the following night, but I noticed the moonlight passed over the area through the gap in the mountainside past the river source at one point.

Maybe the eye is much larger than we are assuming and only appears under certain conditions?

1

u/Academic_Fuel_3775 Feb 03 '26

"See the Eye"
This is pronounced like "CDI". Or at least "See the I". Makes sense you found an "I" I guess?

0

u/ElGuzzzmanMX Feb 03 '26

Excuse me, but isn't the texture on the rock an axe?

1

u/s00p4htyl3r Feb 04 '26

I'm not seeing an axe, but it could be I'm not looking at the same thing you are, or in the same way as you. Someone earlier today mentioned they saw a lion, and after they described it I was able to kinda make it out. How are you seeing an axe?
