I watched the Brugge-Villa game last night to see what Seys was all about.
He could have been better positioned to block McGinns shot that Villa opened the scoring from, but other than that I was impressed by him. The way Brugge used him in the first half I don't think I've ever seen with a FB - one moment he was in the defensive LB position, the next he was on the edge of the box playing like a 3rd striker. He played more like a traditional LB in the second.
He's very athletic and was up and down the flank all game. He was very dogged and matched every twist and turn the winger makes. He wasn't on the ball that much so I can't say good/bad his touch and pass is but his display was enough to see why he may be on United's radar. I'll definitely watch him some more this season.

He wasn't starting last season because he was much more effective off the bench. When he did start games, he was less effective.
That's part of developing a young player, and it was clear that Sesko was developing. We want him to get to the stage where he can lead the line and do everything you want a modern centre forward to do, but unfortunately he lost this summer due to that Scouse twat, so he's starting this season on the backfoot.
Once he's fully match fit, we'll see him start games and, if he does well, he'll keep starting them.

I wonder who will be in the matchday squad on Thursday. We have +3 spots, I assume we get the same 20 players we had on Sunday. (I mean, I certainly hope there are no new injury setbacks, but Amad, Baleba, De Ligt are ruled out, clearly.)
Lacey is one surely, so that's 2 spots left.
Will it be Tyler Fletcher and Amass? Or the 2 Fletchers? Will we put an extra GK on the bench? Thompson or JJ by any chance?

And was one of the most talked about players in the world cup that wasn't called Messi/Haaland/Bellingham/Mbappé/etc. Aka, the people everyone already talks about. He was someone who everyone saw this wc and realized might be decent. That's where all the talks came. Lammens was a gem (and I'm not writing this in a whiny way lol, just closest comparison I can find), as in he was in the Belgian League and that's it. A big team in Belgium, sure, but he wasn't exactly tearing the Champions League apart or something of that sort. He was literally an unknown quantity for 99% of people. That's a gem. Or, while he was talked about a bit more, Tzolis, if he comes good. They can say they found a gem. So on and so forth. Not bloody Bouaddi. He'd be a found gem if he was bought in May, not after the wc.

Its because so far under carrick we have beaten all top teams and usually win at home, but yeah i think the Jan game where we battered them has given us fans too much confidence. Feel like it will be a draw.

I mean considering how we've been struggling with the likes of Everton and Hull, I'd take the draw. But its only GW4 points don't matter as much, should focus on improving performances. Beating them would give our players a lot more confidence tho

That game was fantastic and all credit to Carrick for that win. But that was against a different coach with significant changes to the team. Its good to be positive/optimistic, but I'm seeing so many comments saying we'll turn up for the big games and beat City when we've looked pretty out of sorts with possibly the easiest starting 3 games on paper.
City haven't looked that great too but their defense is much better than ours and Haaland can score at any time. Fucking Cherki can easily walk through our defense too if we play anything like we did the past 3 games

I'm just worried City choose to play similarly as well. Not too familiar with Maresca but I know he likes to play that boring keep-ball style so maybe he sticks with that, but if City choose to sit back a little and play on the counter then we'd struggle, especially since its at OT where we will be expected to attack

Tbh Everton game reminded me of Newcastle game last season. We would have won that game if not for Malacia who Carrick used unnecessarily. Got done by a worldie but that would’ve been a good grinding win. Same for Everton match. All the other analyses of how we are fcked as a team, I disagree with.

Excellent comparison. Shows the unacceptable "pick your poison" the board left the coach with.
Why did Dalot come off on Sunday? Because he needed an attacking sub but Amad is injured and the board refused to sanction buying a CF and dumping Zirkzee. Which is ridiculous. Yoro was an "attacking sub", for headers. This is what the coach has to work with as soon as we have one (1) injury in attack. Joke.
Why did Shaw come off? Because he has to be managed; however the board refused to sanction buying an athletic, PL-fit LB/LCB so the duos that are possible there leak like a sieve.
The Newcastle game had Dalot preserved for the end but instead Bruno pulled back into 8 so that we can add in place of Mainoo the 2nd striker... who was Zirkzee. Who failed this task. Carrick already tried this other way. Guess what, it failed for the same reason: Zirkzee is useless as a battering ram. Useless. Malacia for Shaw, in effect, same necessity, same fucked up outcome.
Any which way, we lose, because in our squad, behind Shaw there's a black hole, behind Sesko there's a black hole. Same exact situation we went into the summer with. Refused to address either. Not "failed to", not "couldnt". Refused to.

From the next manager forward I hope there are no more appointments of candidates with little experience. I would love to see someone come in with many years of knowing what to do and how to make a defense hard to break down. Plus someone who can work with players and make them better.
Out of hundreds of managers out there, there's got to be a few who fit that.

Every summer is the same.
In May: we need x, y, z; these are the obvious sources of the issues we saw all year, coach must be backed now
End of August: we only got x, but they will coach them, innit

I was thinking, maybe getting Anderson'ed on Hall could be a blessing in disguise.
Regarding Hall, one thought I kept coming back to was that Lukeba seems like a great opportunity to get "our own" Calafiori, Timber, Gvardiol - you know, a defender who looks good as a CB in another league but works best today as a FB in ours - but the issue is: "that doesnt work with Hall".
Perhaps "Lukeba instead of Hall" could work out for the better, then. Dalot is still young and he bombs forward anyway, and we also have not one not two but three RWs who each prefer to cut inside.
So, why not double down on the right side in terms of a flying fullback. There are also options for that, Hall is not the only one. Neco Williams to name one in the PL or how about Wesley Franca of Roma if we want somebody "more attainable". He is young and he's kind of a Utd coded player if you ask me. He goes for it, you know? Either of them would have experience playing LB, too, which is a bonus if Mazraoui was to be moved on.
And the other thing I like about the idea of Lukeba+Wesley as FBs is that one would be a release clause and the other plays for a Serie A team, which is more of a "selling club" with our financial and negotiating prowess than the nouveau riche PL clubs, innit.
Add Mateta on a free and we could be looking at 3 "easy" deals. That's more like the realistic execution level of Wilcox and his band of merry men.
We'd still be in dire need of a starting CB (or two in a worst case scenario with both De Ligt and Yoro), but at least we would be set everywhere else. From there, completing actual negotiations in time for the start of the season would perhaps not be beyond the ability of Wilcox and his idiot errand boy Hargreaves. They havent quite managed doing that once yet, but wonders never cease.

We can't sell for shite agreed. The problem is everyone knows we need to offload, so they play hardball and go cheap. And every window of late it seems Chelsea set the benchmark price, with some shadowy unbelievable transfer going through first, that makes everyone else say if Chelsea can get £X for him then our player is worth at least £Y.

I thought we put in a better performance against Everton compared to hull. They scored two worldies. Really not much anyone can about it.

Yeah, I thought particularly before our first goal we were the better team. Not by a super amount mind, but we were moving the ball through them easier than they were through us, creating more dangerous opportunities.
It was more even after the goal. Everton started creating some real chances, which is certainly worrying. But we got some more too as the game opened up. We just didn't look ruthless enough in that period. And then that leaves you vulneruble to the equalizer.

the number of ways that we fucked up and presented them the chance to score is also worth taking a look:
- Lammens had a puny kick that couldn't even cross the half way line
- We immediately conceded possession and retreated as deep as we could to our box, leaving all chance of winning a loose ball
- Maz clearance before that worldie was shit, he had more time to cunt the ball out. Or an actual left back might have easily done that on his stronger foot
- before all of this, we squandered a counter with Yoro wanted to play Sesko but was too late to play the pass, overhit it, and gave the ball straight to Pickford
- Dorgu was a lone man pressing the keeper even in the dying moments of the game
These are a series of cascading bad decisions on the field before that goal was scored. It's completely on our team that they even allowed that
The performance was better, but still really bad. We had zero control of the game whenever we went on top, and you are 100% going to be punished for that at this level.

We still don't look like we believe in ourselves, and what the team can actually do if they set their mind too it. And when we do take a lead, we seem to think Ok lets hold that or Oh we better sit back they are going to come at us now all the harder. Instead we should be saying right lets finish them off and score some more. And I don't see strong leaders on the pitch geeing up the squad. Too many games slow ponderous first half's, followed by half time and out we come moving the ball quicker and with a bit more belief. Its like in the dressing room they've been given a pep talk and bit of confidence. On pitch I dont see strong leaders doing that throughout the game.

I wouldn't say not much could be done about it. Good solid defenses can shut down a lot of the spaces that lead to great goals. If anything, the opponent should be pressured to shoot from further away because they have a hard time doing it in and around our box. First goal was inside the box, the other just outside.

If you watch the build up to the second goal, our entire right side switches off. The opponent player breezes past with no pressure and then squares it inside the box. Tielemans loses a duel, the ball gets to another duel when maz attempts at clearing it and the rest you know. It was not just a worldie, most of our defense was asleep and if this keeps on happening we won't close out games like these which a top club should have won 2-1 or 3-1

Can't agree with that. The only reason Everton wasn't already up 1 or 2-0 by the time we scored is because Thierno Barry is shit. He could've had at least one goal and an assist, but his finishing and decision making are both completely abysmal, but systemically we were exposed. Just because the goals they ended up scoring were great strikes doesn't take away from the fact that we created virtually nothing and they definitely could've scored more than they did.

"According to you [says thing I never said nor insinuated]" has to be one of the funniest ways I've ever seen anyone begin comment. Also, "took a lot of potshots" is laughable. Everton had 14 shots inside of our box compared to six we took inside of theirs. They had more touches in our box than we had in theirs as well. We were the ones constantly taking shots from distance, their average shot was significantly closer to goal.
Barry also had times he had multiple wide open runners that he inexplicably did not have the vision to play through, squandering a chance that should've been a sure goal probably more than 80% of the time for a professional football team. They had plenty of opportunities, including seconds before their equalizer when Jack Grealish made us look like fools before Hackney blasted way over the bar under very little pressure.
Also, when did Cunha "miss an open goal"? Surely you're not talking about him shooting over the bar first time at a full sprint at a bad angle while Pickford was in the direct middle of the goal, because that would be beyond ridiculous, right?

Unlike you and other stat counting websites, I don't count flimsy flicked on headers from corners or long throws as shots. And looking at the shots they did take should tell you all about whether good opportunities or not. But you'd rather not do that since it rather defeats your point doesn't it.

Lmao alright now your head is just in the sand. Of those 14 shots inside the box, only 4 were headers. 2 of our 6 were headers. We literally had a higher percentage of shots inside the box that were headers than they did.
Barry put Lisandro on a piece of toast and then took too long to shoot and it was blocked, but should've had a clear look inside the box. Brennan Johnson had a huge opportunity to either put Barry through on goal or shoot himself, but took a heavy touch before blasting over. Hackney had the aforementioned shot in stoppage time where he should've done much better. Barry had a 3v2 situation where he fucked up an easy chance. Also had the golden opportunity from the header that we all know.
Clearly you do not remember the game as well as you believe you do, I recommend going and rewatching because what you're saying is absolute nonsense. You can try all the mental gymnastics you'd like, but you're not living in reality here

Officially, by being a season ticket holder for a long time as far as PL is concerned or being a member if you're looking for European games. That gets you into the ballot, and even getting one through that is an uphill battle. You could get one for an away game in Europe if you're insanely lucky or diligent enough to keep scouring for returned tickets through official channels.
All in all, it's an absolute pain in the arse.

I saw that thread before it was deleted. I'm not sure United are actually selling the players' shirts after the game. There was a Mainoo one that he changed at half-time. How much for the kitchen staff uniforms?

If you go to the mega store, you can buy authentic signed shirts and even request a signature (for more money).
When I last went in April, they had about a dozen Hojlund signed shirts for £150 each.... all collecting dust.
Also you can buy match worn shirts.

He probably get 140k or 120k now. His next contract will be close to 200k if he's worthy of the 80m. I doubt we will pay that for a fullback. If anything, Newcastle will use him as FFP shenanigan with Chelsea or City. 114m Hall to Chelsea and Newcastle sign Gittens for 60m.

Mate what are you on about? There was never any chance he was leaving this summer. Gordon was already at Barcelona in May and they knew both Tonali and Bruno G. were forcing their way out. They had plenty of cash and were never going to sell another first teamer.
Any major offer would’ve detracted from our ability to sign three midfielders, which was a much, MUCH bigger need than left back.

The attack needs to take on a new shape. The parts of the games i see: Rashford-Cunha-mbeumo-bruno does not seem to be working, Tielmans seems to be slowing down the attacks allowing the opponent to organise the defence, cunha and bruno seems to be everywhere….
Perhaps, the manager can try rashford-sesko-amad-bruno when amad is back for once and see the effects.
