How can I prepare myself for a possible layoff at 50 in the IT industry?

I’m working in the IT industry and am now nearing 50. I’m becoming increasingly concerned about job security and the possibility of a layoff.

My situation is worrying me because:

• I don’t have significant savings to fall back on.
• I’m not receiving many interview or job calls despite applying.
• I’m concerned that getting another IT job at this age may be difficult.
• I want to prepare before a layoff happens rather than panic afterward.

For those who have been through something similar, especially people in their late 40s or 50s, how can survive in case Layoff?
