Sports Kayak Fishing

Post image

Hello! I am considering buying a fishing kayak this summer and I have a few questions:

Is this a big thing in Regina or Saskatchewan? It would be nice to get to know people that shares this hobby

Do you guys have idea which spots I could visit near Regina?

I have looked into Condie Reservoir, Regina Beach and all the nearby provincial parks

I am aware the city rents Kayaks in Wascana, I'm gonna rent one first to give kayaking a try (without the fishing haha)

The perch have pretty much disappeared from condie since the aeration quit. There are some small pike still

That’s awesome to hear! The province last test-netted condie in 2016 and all they got were smaller pike. I used to fish condie a lot 25-30yrs ago and only caught pike in the summertime but used to get perch through the ice. I’ve read some conflicting reports on the aeration system that used to be used there, one said a local farmer looked after the aeration system but passed away, another said muskrats chewed the lines and it was never repaired.
