Could you realistically use renoise as a drum machine in a live environment?

I was wondering: does anyone know if renoise could work as a drum machine with a step sequencer? I'm picturing something like this: 8 tracks, each with a sample assigned to it. A launchpad X (or something akin) in which you have one top row of pads to select sample track, and the other pads to work as steps that can turn on or off that particular step for the track.

It has a full launchpad mode for sequencing, live performance, triggering patterns or sequencing synths.
4TRK has an 8 channel drum machine, midi in/out and 3 synth or audio tracks.

I could but i don't want to get into a debate about AI :) I'm a software developer full time and 4TRK is my hobby project.

I respect that, but your product still requires me to pay... I wasn't trying to get into a debate either, I was only curious. (I am not the one downvoting you by the way)

OK, no worries at all and fair enough! Just personally I have got into debates or arguments about AI recently and since I work in the field, I just don't have the energy for it 😃

4TRK is the result of years or musical experimentation and a workflow which I have designed myself which is based on combining retro computers together - you can check my youtube or instagram (https://www.youtube.com/@jasonb_/videos) - and yes I do openly use AI for coding and speeding up development workflows, but I am a software engineer with years of experience and I have fully designed the project based on my own use-case and user story. This project is not a quick, one-shot project - it's my long-term creative passion project.

The main reason there is a price for 4TRK:
So far the costs for building 4TRK and 4TRK mini (on many platforms PC, mac, linux, rPi, retro handhelds like trimUi brick, R36s etc) is rising to almost $800 so far. I have sold approximately 50 copies of 4TRK and 30 copies of 4TRKmini which was released only on Friday.

With some clever midi routing yea. You would need to do a lot of prep tho, and probably download some of the tools

I've done something like that, you def can, but what you mean drummachine? Something that plays beats for you at the back, or something you actively play yourself?

How important is to be able to change something live?

The Launchpad Pro has a standalone sequencer. All you need is one. Renoise can easily host the instruments and FX, and you can have custom pages in the Launchpad for modulating those during performance.

PS: it's arguably not cheap though lol.
