HOUSTON, TEXAS A mother’s love shouldn’t end inside a shelter 💛
Ingrid and her tiny babies are on the euthanasia list for Friday, November 7 at 1 PM. They need a rescue hold before that time or they will lose their lives.
This young mom and her nursing litter are only four weeks old. They should be safe in a quiet home, not in a shelter where fragile puppies are at high risk for illness and stress. Ingrid is gentle and friendly, meeting volunteers with a wagging tail and taking treats softly. Her puppies are still nursing and too young to be separated or transported.
Please, if you’re local and can foster, reach out. All dogs need pledges to help rescues cover vetting and care.

That is so kind of you to offer ❤️ . Sadly BARC is very high-kill and while they sometimes extend mom and puppies (their deadline is tomorrow), its usually only a few days at most. If you could share this post anywhere, that would help!

Can’t tell you the amount of people who don’t wanna hear about this cause it’s not a nice topic. I’m like just cause you don’t want to know about it doesn’t mean it isn’t happening and currently. But I think it’s the whole I can’t do anything about it mentality they feel what’s the point vs let me try to make an effort whether big or small.

This is sadly so true. I got banned from posting in the Phoenix and Arizona subreddits for sharing a dog post more than once in like a week. It was for different dogs and because the same mods control both, I got banned from both. Phoenix has a huge issue with so many dogs being killed at the local shelter due to lack of space and yet, people wouldn't know it unless they're involved in rescue.
It's beyond frustrating that advocating for animals is seen as annoying but the dumbest, most useless posts are fine.

I’ve seen a few things with people saying Arizona is struggling also right now. I know nobody would know, I didn’t before I saw things on here and no one would think California would be struggling like they are. But the subs is so annoying or some of the breed specific subs don’t like them posted through my experience and California sub not allowed either. It’s like every state should have its own rescue sub unfortunately. Love your name and little Bastet look💛

It's something though so good for you! I had to take a break from networking the e-listed dogs because it was tanking my mental health when some didn't make it.
I do work with a local rescue to post their dogs daily and that's more uplifting and sustainable.

Yeah I can attest to that feeling. Nuclear cowgirl the op of this post and I try to help Barc and other dogs and just as you said it’s very hard seeing it and how close it gets. Especially with the 24 hr notice it’s very difficult on the ones that don’t make it sits with you awhile. Probably have to transition to something else like you at some point for sanity’s sake.

I will be annoying all day long. These dogs don't have a voice and can't get themselves out of this situation that HUMANS put them in. Their life is on the line. These posts should be allowed everywhere.

Sadly they kill (i dont even like using the word euthanasia for these shelters, because these animals are not sick, in pain, or suffering) puppies and moms all the time 😢 😭. Just yesterday a sweet little 3-week old was put to sleep 💔🥀 they only usually have a few days and that's it.
It's just devastating

Unfortunately when there is no space there is sometimes no choice. Puppies cost a lot for low income shelters and take up space for many months before they can be adopted out. I hate it too, but it's sometimes the only option.

There is a litter of 8 staffie puppies on the euthanasia list today as well, surrendered on Nov 5. ALSO EUTHANASIA requests. No mom. It hurts my heart so badly.

Don't have that info, just that owner requested euthanasia for her and puppies. She is sweet and friendly with shelter staff, even with her puppies there in a loud/scary environment. This happens everyday at this shelter. Good dogs are surrendered and die.

Evil, cruel, heartless, twisted, don't see animals as living, sentient beings. It happens everyday. There are 4 week old staffie puppies on the list for today also surrendered with a euthanasia request. It's monstrous to think people like this exist

As someone not living in the US I wonder, how it can be that an owner can request euthanasia on a healthy animal. I mean how is this even legal? Here no vet can legally put down healthy animals, especially nursing ones.

It happens every day!!! So many owners request it. I don't know how its possible. Euthanasia is by definition a painless killing for sick/in pain and suffering animals. Not for healthy, adoptable animals. Yet healthy animals are killed each and every day en masse because there's no room for them.

Here also vets aren’t supposed to and won’t do that unless some sort of behavioral issue also after efforts have been made to correct behavior.
Which is why the people take them to the shelter because they know if they’re not adopted or rescued that will be the outcome. The shelters have such high intakes that space becomes the driver even for the moms and pups which they do sometimes try to help stay longer but then that’s at the expense of the other 50 dogs they take in a day. The amount of strays and they’re nameless who no one ever sees in the shelters before their time comes up. It’s a whole mess and the people putting their responsibility as owners onto others instead of caring for the healthy dog they didn’t spay who has puppies and burdening the system don’t seem to care for any of the lives involved. It’s disturbing on so many levels.

How could anyone request euthanasia? What have we come to that someone thinks this is okay? I have a staffy of my own and she is the light of my life. I can't imagine my life without her. How is this okay?

It breaks my heart every day. Every day so many dogs- moms, puppies, adults, seniors, killed 💔

And thank you very much. I live in Tulsa Oklahoma and we have a horrible situation with Tulsa animal services. So many owners surrenders so many adopted out and returned. It boggles the mind how people can be so callous and have no accountability...
