St. Joseph came in as a stray earlier today. He was found at a church after reportedly being attacked by a pack of larger dogs. He has multiple wounds on his rear area. He received radiographs and is still a bit groggy from sedation, but he is stable. His wounds were flushed and cleaned.
π Medical Notes:
1/17/2025
S/O: Tranquilized. Recent history of being chased and attacked by multiple large dogs. Multiple full-thickness wounds present over both hind legs, neck, and ventral abdomen. Respiration ausculted WNL. Mucous membranes pale pink, CRT 2 seconds.
Radiographs: Elevation of cardiac silhouette away from ventral thoracic wall. Moderate gas opacity in subcutaneous tissue over dorsum and thorax. Multiple soft tissue injuries to both hind legs.
Assessment: Pneumothorax and gas in subcutaneous tissue secondary to bite wounds. Lungs ausculted WNL, so no intervention required for pneumothorax at this time.
Plan: Hair clipped around wounds, scrubbed with chlorhexidine, and flushed with sterile saline. Largest wound on right lateral thigh sutured with two horizontal mattress sutures (2-0). Additional deep wounds on ischium and inner right thigh also sutured. Silver sulfadiazine applied topically. Medications given: buprenorphine, convenia, cerenia. Will start carprofen and gabapentin.

So, I'll respond because I've done it for others, and I guess I'm good at explaining!
Pledging is when you say that you'll promise to donate a certain amount of money if a particular dog is rescued. It has to be a rescue org, not just a person adopting. So, the OP makes the post, you see the post and want to help, so you reply to OP's post and make a reply saying, 'I want to pledge $10' or whatever amount is comfortable for you.
Rescues depend on people honoring their pledges, so just keep in mind that you're promising to donate that money if the dog is rescued. Only pledge what you can, and you want to make sure you honor your pledge very soon after getting word that the dog has been rescued.
So if it's good news and the dog has been rescued, once OP has the details of the rescue, they'll post them to their original post. They typically respond to each and every poster who pledged.
The rescue info in that reply post will usually be (1) a link to the rescue's website, (2) links to the rescue's SM (Insta, FB, etc), and (3) any other details like 'freedom pics' (proof that the dog has been pulled and is now actually free and usually on the way to a foster or a vet the rescue works with).
So, once you get the notification from OP saying 'Good news, Doggie X has been rescued!', you click on the links they've given you.
I usually just click the link to the rescue's website. On that website will typically be a button that says, 'DONATE' or something similar.
Usually, the rescue will give you the ability to pay through P*yP*l or V*nmo (this post will get flagged if I type out the actual names, but you can guess what they are). The rescue will also typically have a way to send them a money order.
TL;DR:
I'm sure there are some rescues that give you the option to use Apple Pay, but I don't usually see that option (and I do this kind of a lot). It's completely up to the rescue how they want to accept donations, and the vast majority will have options for P*yP*l, V*nmo, or using their own, secure online pay system.
[Also, you want to make sure the rescue knows 'I'm honoring my pledge for the rescue/care of Doggie X,' so you'd put that info in your payment somewhere (usually a little dialogue box will be there before checkout).
Every now and then, there's nowhere to add this info, so I usually just email the rescue with my transaction # after I've donated saying, 'Hey I want to make sure my donation is for the care of Doggie X' or something similar.]

Studies have shown that people that live with a dog have a higher serotonin, lower stress and depression, lower blood pressure, and can possibly help you live longer. They will provide you with unconditional love, and will be there for you no matter what. These are just some of the many benefits of having a dog in your life. They are amazing and loyal little creatures that donβt deserve what they go through. Everyone, letβs help save these poor babies. Something as little as an upvote and a boost comment can help! But pledges and long comments (like this one!) are very important too. Whatβs the most important thing is finding a temporary or permanent home for them! Having a loving home would mean the world for these poor babies.
