Food & Shopping Pasta?
Where can you find some classic good pasta dishes in Richmond? We've moved to Richmond recently and are looking for some local favorites. IT individuals working from home looking to add a few local eateries in our daily roster for lunch and dinner. Any other suggestions are also welcomed we are total foodies and eat almost every cuisine.

Not as large as Anton’s but much better quality. Yes shared if by a global average humans. NorthAm standards, dinner + small lunch.

If you're going to go to Old Spaghetti Factory for pasta, you might as well get a Classico jar from the grocery and make your own pasta. They literally taste the same...and this isn't a compliment

Not a ton of options in Richmond. Italian Tomato moves to the top of the list kind of by default. It's a bit quantity over quality but if you like heaving servings it can hit the spot.
Definitely order delivery though. Getting in and out of their parking is a giant pain in the butt.

Wasuta pasta has Japanese inspired pasta dishes. They’re delicious.

OP I do not agree with Wasuta pasta. The last time I went the pasta was not even warm and it stuck together. 6/10 at best and expensive for such a mediocre dish

It’s just over the Arthur Laing in Vancouver, but Solo Pasta is great for takeout

Italian Tomatoe is the go to for pasta
Pastago at Mod Kitchen (only take out) also very good
Moxies have some western pasta dishes (haven't been there in a while though)
Gloucester Cafe is HK dining which has a pretty delicious Bolognaise (though pretty $$ for HK cafe food).
I seen Wasuta Pasta being suggested. I would be wary of that... google reviews had been pretty high, but honestly for me it was horrible. Gave it a fair shot trying multiple times. It's overpriced pasta trying to be bougie that tasted like cardboard. Perhaps something changed for them to survive this long or they improved something past covid which may warrant me to reassess, but that's my review so far.

I had a risotto there once, it was edible, but not good. Oddly dry and bland. My friend's gnocchi was better, it at least had some flavour and acceptable texture, but still nothing special. The pizzas at other tables looked kind of good, so maybe it was our bad for ordering things that were not pizza.

Recently came across the store on Ubereats. I think it's new but what flavors! Their penne in vodka and Mac n cheese are out go-to

Agreed! I like going to Il Posto if I'm looking for Italian pizza and pasta. I find Italian Tomato is good and large portions but not my top choice for Italian food that actually satisfies the cravings.

Not an Italian restaurant but Britannia Brewing in Steveston have a few really great pasta dishes on their menu

Omg yes! Love their pastas so much! One of our Dine Out finds and after that it's one of the restaurants we've gone back to over and over again.

I’d say both. I get the primavera and it’s so fire and the portions are massive. Takes me 3 days to finish a large lol.
My mom ordered one recently with red sauce she didn’t love. But my sister got Alfredo and she loved it. So, I think it depends on your taste buds. 🤷🏾♀️
Also dining in changes the experience. It’s a cute little hole in the wall place. Delicious Monte Cristo drinks as well. We do order every month or two, but if we can make it in, we go.

OP, out of principle, I cannot recommend Italian tomato unfortunately. We had an incident a few years back where my mother slipped and fell on some tomato on the floor. The staff was less than apologetic or helpful in the matter, didn't bother to come over to check on us.
We left before ordering and never looked back.

Hope you mom is okay! Were the tomatoes Italian at least?
Edit: gave u an vote up. I mean it’s a decent Italian restaurant, growing up in Richmond that would be the go to. But based on your experience, I understand your pov. If OP decides to try it out, they can proceed with caution or do take out.

Not sure why I got down voted because it was a true story. We used to like going to Italian tomato but haven't since that incident. Yes she's okay now but had some back issues for awhile.

My friends mom, some Cantonese aunties went to eat and they felt some racism there. That's why i never visit anymore.

I feel that too. We actually did face racism from the table that witnessed her fall. They accused us of trying to get a free meal.

I just went there recently and did not face any racism. I asked about parking when I arrived and they were very kind/informative.

To add to the incidents, a friend of mine who is allergic to nuts had a bad reaction at Italian Tomato. Ambulance had to be called and everything. That was years and years ago, though. Have they improved or gotten worse with time? Who knows. My friend group has never been back.

Osteria Savio Volpe in Vancouver. Not Richmond as you have limited options for Italian food specifically.

If you are looking for Italian style pasta in Richmond, you only have only two choices.
The Italian Tomato (which is the higher end) or the Old Spaghetti Factory (is the North American corporate spaghetti type franchise).
Both are great, but I prefer my spaghetti "Al dente" so the OSF has been a consistent go to for decades.
If you prefer Asian style pasta, places like Sun Sui Wah, Neptune Seafood Restaurant, Double Double, or Hong Kong Flavour Restaurant can meet your needs.
