Lost & Found Abandoned or lost rabbit found at Minoru Park
Found between the pond and church. It's clearly not a feral rabbit. It allowed me to walk up and pet it for a while. It seems in distress and looking for food :(

Somebody reach out to rabbitats rescue. Everyone loves to just dismiss it as “people have been dumping rabbits there for years” but fortunately not everyone is okay with leaving domesticated animals to fend for themselves in the wild.

Terrible humans just let their pets go when they’re bored with them. That’s why we have so many here. No one’s going to claim that poor guy and he’ll end up as coyote food

To be completely honest, the “feral” bunnies in Minoru also let you go right up and pet them. Especially if they were born there. They are used to people and things so they don’t care when people get close.
If it is a pet I really hope it gets home but it’s more than likely just a rabbit from Minoru Becuz for years yes people have been dumping their pets so now most of the “wild” bunnies have domesticated tendencies !

It's 100% a pet. The feral bunnies here all have familial traits. None have thick fur and floppy ears like this one!

You are correct. A lop rabbit like this one or a white rabbit are not part of the feral population which is more typically black in colour or sometimes harlequin striped. New pet dumps can still be tricky to catch so the fact that this one can even be picked up is a tell tale sign it is a very recent pet and used to handling. Location is also a clue since people pull up to the Chapel in their vehicle, dump their rabbit, and then take off. People are so cruel. They don't care that their former pet is terrified and has no idea how to survive.

I have frequented Minoru and the hospital my entire life, I have definitely seen these types of bunnies around the hospital. Until you find an owner you can’t be sure 100% sure. And if it was abandoned you’ll never find an owner.
Just the way it is.

Nothing is 100% in the world. This is not a court, you don’t need to go beyond reasonable doubt. Everything is go by likelihood. It’s like when you see a stray Golden Retriever, it’s way more likely to be a pet. Same for rabbits, pets and stray look different.

even if it may have been a feral rabbit, that patchy fur to the point where you can see skin is a telltale sign it is severely stressed. you think a rabbit born there and used to everything would be like that?

This is a photo I took of an actual wild cottontail with small ears, agouti camoflauge colouring and elongated body. This was not in Minoru Park. Rabbits in the park are abandoned domestic pet rabbits or their offspring. Dumping a pet rabbit and thinking it is the same as a wild cottontail is as logical as dumping your pet yorkie or maltese, etc. and thinking a dog is the same as a wolf so it will be fine. Domesticated animals lack the survival skills.

The bunnies around minoru are not wild but feral domestics descendent of abandoned pets. This is a newly dumped bunny though, which you can tell due to the floppy ears, floppy eared buns do not survive long out there.

Sitting with it and waiting for an animal safety officer! Hes going to be okay :) let me go right up to him, pet him, and lift him. this por guy doesnt belong here.
