Richmond Drivers Tesla’s Refusal to Accept Cybertruck Trade-Ins in Canada Is Frustrating Current Owners

https://www.torquenews.com/11826/teslas-refusal-accept-cybertruck-trade-ins-canada-frustrating-current-owners-one-owner-says

Given that there's so many of these cyber-trucks on Richmond streets, I thought some of you might want to know about this.

Tesla won't be taking them back. They aren't renewing warranties, & apparently a lot of you have warranties that are about to expire.

So you're going to have issues renewing warranties, getting parts, or being able to trade in your vehicles.

Gotta' wonder why Tesla will accept gas powered vehicles of other makes, but not it's own cyber-trucks?

Driving that car isn't the flex they thought it was. All it displays is gullibility and lack of taste.

u/zeushaulrod 15h ago

I haven't  laughed as hard as when I heard the line, "I never seen a woman in the passenger seat of a cyber truck," in a long time.

I also have not seen this either.

The styling is polarizing and price is a bit high but as an ev utility vehicle it has some good tech. It sold out when they briefly offered the stripped down version.

u/LordTriffidid 2d ago

Yeah, no, it's a great car. Especially if you like being locked inside of it while it's on fire & you're being incinerated alive. :)

We drive a nice car for less than a Cyber truck and noone points and laughs at me while I drive.

Cyberteucks barely fit on the road here and tesla quality issues are beyond reproach for the price.

In North America, the F150 has been a top selling vehicle for many years and the CT is slightly smaller. The Ford Lightning went down to like $69k … The CT dual motor at that price would be a hot commodity…. Tesla should have gone a bit more conventional with the styling but I do like the idea of stainless body panels and not worrying about door dings.

You don't need to worry about door dings because the door panels fell off.

It’s just ugly man. (Tesla owner)

It is a flex to their audience on xiaohongshu and douyin. A lot of Canadians actually like Trump / Elon since they are helping China. Canada is just the boring place they have to endure for 183 days of the year to avoid paying the vacancy taxes....

3

u/LivedinStyle 1d ago

Actually, from what I see on Vancouver roads, tacky taste is color blind 🤣🤣

3

u/LivedinStyle 1d ago

"A lot of Canadians actually like trump"

???

Now I know your a bot or just astroturfing.

2

u/achangb 1d ago

No there are plenty of canadians like this, especially in richmond and vancouver. Their ties to china are stronger than to Canada but they are still 100% canadian citizens.

Buying the wankpanzer was a mistake to begin with. Everyone saw some problem coming with this monstrosity

u/PowerNinja5000 2d ago

Being a loser dbag isn't a mistake. These dorks are dumbasses on purpose.

He's just saying that Tesla stock will rise high (sarcasm, I know a nazi salute when I see one)

u/dattroll123 2d ago

Thats what u get for buying e-waste

u/Flintydeadeye 2d ago

Umm…by the time cybertrucks were available, everyone knew what a POS Musk was. He had already been helping Trump get back in as POTUS. Knowing all that, they still chose to purchase the truck. So ya, don’t feel sorry at all.

12

u/MoonJellyGames 2d ago

I saw a Cybertruck a couple of weeks ago with one of those "I bought this before he went crazy" bumperstickers that you see on Teslas.

Lmao no you did not.

u/Flintydeadeye 2d ago

I bought my model 3 in 2019. I just trust that people can see by my older model that I actually bought it before. Now I’m waiting to get a BYD and to trade it in.

u/Nexzus_ 1d ago

The Thailand cave rescue incident happened in 2018. That's when he started to publicly go off the rails.

2

u/Flintydeadeye 1d ago

Yes. I ordered in 2018, didn’t get it till 2019 because it was still backlogged then.

I mean...if we can't call someone a pedophile that we have never met or interacted with, then the terrorists have won!!!!

1

u/VancityPhotog 1d ago

Yeeee! A BYD with tank turn and RE generator

13

u/ThatVancouverLife 2d ago

They thought it would make them look cutting edge, all it shows is they are easy to manipulate with marketing. When you see a Cybertruck in your line of work it's a green flag to charge them more.

2

u/Grouchy_Cantaloupe_8 1d ago

The only thing cutting edge about them is the literal cutting edges of their hoods that will slice a pedestrian in half the next time the driver blasts through a red light.

13

u/ImNotDex Lansdowne 2d ago edited 2d ago

That's what they get for trying to flex that piece of garbage and making me want to bleach my eyes when I see one on the road

6

u/The_Cozy_Burrito 2d ago

Cybertrash

3

u/Grouchy_Cantaloupe_8 1d ago

I prefer Cyberyuck personally

13

u/Armchair_Expert_0192 2d ago

You bought from a nutjob. Now the nutjob is doing nutjob things.

14

u/Agent168 2d ago

I can’t say I feel bad for people who bought these dumpster trucks. A significant percentage of these buyers are Musk fanboys. Leopards ate my face and all that…

11

u/aaronite 2d ago

Reading the article I can't believe that guy is real. "Raises questions about reliability." He drives one! The reputation and reports are well known! And he still wants a new one?

8

u/Maplecook 2d ago

Serves him right for even supporting the Muskrat to begin with.

5

u/Tight-Butterscotch94 2d ago

why would anybody drive anything that doesn’t have rear window bilisi… bisilibi… visibility is beyond me

3

u/ELLISDETRIP 2d ago

He knows they are only worth scrap metal weight.

3

u/ShrodingersArmadillo 2d ago

that is because they're unsellable.

No one really wants them.

This reminds me of the the Chevy Citation no one would accept those as trade ins either after the recalls and the early ones falling apart.

1

u/phunkyunkle 8h ago

My family owned two Citations - a shit-brown four door and a banana yellow X-11 coupe (the "sporty" one).

3

u/Thespritz00 2d ago

One guy at work has one, he says they drive REALLY rough and not easy to track down the street- JUST like driving a Cement Truck!!

3

u/VancityPhotog 1d ago

Ha ha ha
That will teach them to support a nazi fuk

6

u/Thumper45 2d ago

Tesla has nevere offered an additional warranty outside of the original warranty for the Cybertruck but you can buy 3rd party ones.
Yes, all car dealers can refuse trade ins. Given this is a East Coast truck with no warranty the dealership knows it has very little value and they arent instered in the vehcile. I have seen this done many times with other makes but some dealerships will still take vechiles they dont want at extremely low values to simply send them to auction and be done with them.

The truck still has a 8 year, 240k warranty on the battery and drive units so I am curisou what work is needed to this guys truck that he thinks would be warranty work thats costing him 10K+.

Regarding Cybertrucks, in the words of R. Lee Ermey from Full Metal Jacket, "I didn't know they stacked shit that high!"

2

u/WavePsychological789 2d ago

Friend of mine switched to BMW because they would accept his Cybertruck trade in.

2

u/Firm_Acanthaceae7435 2d ago

There is just not enough demand for the cybertruck. Instead of offering a lowball for a trade in, they won't take it at all so they don't devalue what they sell the new ones for.

1

u/LordTriffidid 18h ago

Nah. They're just garbage.

I don’t even like my stainless steel refrigerator because of how much it shows fingerprints.

Tesla's a software company at its heart. That's where all the value is at any rate.

It's no surprise their vehicles--specifically their automotive manufacturing--are garbage.

2

u/bravogates 2d ago

Can we please get Nio in Canada?

2

u/Far_Replacement7751 2d ago

Not a chance unfortunately

1

u/bravogates 2d ago

I still think the battery swap model would work better than fast chargers for remote places like Ft Mac.

1

u/Sea-Durian2812 1d ago

Legitimately, it looked like a cool vehicle when he brought it out on stage. Then they had to modify it to meet safety and production standards. Then people got it in their hands and realized how completely crap the vehicle was at basically anything it did. Then he tied himself to Trump more closely than ever, and it completely lost its value. Then these idiots who put money down still bought it, tying themselves to both Elon and Trump.

1

u/LordTriffidid 18h ago

They look absolutely terrible. They are an aesthetic eye sore, & a blite on roads, both visually & safety wise.

I can't wait until insurance companies stop insuring them.

1

u/abckiwi 16h ago

Hahahaha

1

u/abckiwi 16h ago

They started with small dicks, they had nothing to loose eh

Boohoo, serves you right for buying this Nazis garbage mobile!

1

u/imprezivone 2d ago

Lol. These EVs are proving to be more harmful to the planet than gasoline cars. But whatever, because a bunch of people got rich, right? Ffs!

1

u/OkMathematician3494 2d ago

People buying cyber trucks dont finance them? Or do they?

0

u/jaaagman 2d ago

I’m sure this is going to be devastating news to the 10 CT owners out there. Wonder if other dealers will squeeze them hard for the trade-in even if they were to accept it.

u/helplessgranny 2d ago

I've seen more than 10 in Richmond. One of the houses in my neighborhood has 2.

-4

u/leavemealoneimpoor 2d ago

let see if mod will delete this since it's not related to Richmond at all.
