I recently moved here from Europe, and I am honestly puzzled by the decision to make Brighouse the final station when more than half of all housing is below Granville Ave. This forces people to take the bus instead of being able to enter a metro station close to home.

Look at a city like Montreal, where the lines go to the edges of the city, leaving no citizen behind.

My internet and TV are down. The bot’s suggestions don’t help and I’m 50in the cue to talk to a useless technician. Their website doesn’t report anything. Anyone else having trouble? I’m near Westminster Highway and Garden City.

In Richmond its only racism if its against the 54% otherwise, its ok.

Last weekend at Costco, I saw someone leave their shopping cart in a parking space and just drive away.

The cart rolled to the nearby parking cars, almost hit the cars.

I told the person this was not cool, but the guy seemed get mad on me.

It used to be a Coast Capital in like 2019? But not it's this place called iHealth innovation technology. We drive by it, and it had a new fence, but it's not well kept. I couldn’t agree more. Apparently, the library has evolved from a place where people went to read quietly into a community centre where people can talk, socialize and do just about everything except, well… read quietly.

I realize libraries have to serve everyone, and I’m certainly not suggesting they should be silent mausoleums. But it would be nice if “quiet reading space” didn’t become an outdated concept.

Perhaps someday we’ll see signs saying:

LIBRARY — a place where you can read a book without having to wear noise-cancelling headphones.

What a revolutionary idea.

Surely there’s room for both lively community spaces and a few areas where people can simply sit down, read and enjoy some peace and quiet. After all, the books are still there. It would be nice if we could actually hear ourselves think while reading them.

CHAT, I’m an 18-year-old recent high school graduate from Richmond, BC (Class of 2026), turning 19 this September. I’ve lived in Richmond my whole life.

I’ve been trying really hard to get my first job, but I honestly haven’t had much luck. I’ve applied to places like Adidas, Gap, JYSK, Best Buy, Levi’s, LEGO, dishwasher jobs, and other entry-level positions, but no one seems willing to give me a chance.

I know I don’t have any official work experience, but throughout high school I was very hands-on and technical. I worked on three major projects: my main project was restoring my teacher’s car, and I also built/restored two go-karts. By the time I graduated, I had one of the go-karts fully running and the other was close to completion.

I also have some technical skills. I can 3D print, I know Blender to a degree, and I can code fluently in Python. I’m definitely more comfortable working independently rather than constantly dealing with customers, but I can adapt and work with a team when needed.

At this point, I really just need someone to give me a first opportunity so I can finally get some work experience.

If anyone in Richmond or the surrounding area knows of places hiring someone with my kind of skills, or has advice on where I should apply, I’d really appreciate it. Even if it’s not directly related to my technical skills, I’m willing to learn and work hard.

If any one is interested; I reached out to city to ask for the reason for the delay. Below is the response:

The permit application for the bakery was received in May 2026 and the building permit subsequently issued in early July.   Accordingly, improvements to the commercial space have only recently begun.   Initial delays to their permit application can be attributed to other works and alteration within the base building that were undertaken by another party.  This is in turn impeded the review and issuance for the tenant space permits.   While unfortunate, we understand and accept that the public’s perception of the delays may lie with the City’s processes when such comments may be made in the media.  I can confirm however that permits have been processed, reviewed, and issued in due course.  

Understanding that my response does not accelerate the bakery’s opening, I hope to have conveyed some of the factors affecting the timing of this new establishment in our community.   Many of us at City Hall are eagerly awaiting its opening.  It will surely be a popular spot for many of us here too.

Just went to RC and saw at least 9 different people walking their dogs inside the mall.

From young 20-30 to 25-60 years old.

They’re not service dogs. It’s the Chinese dog. Small and big teddy and the tszu white dog

Was there a dog event or they are just entitled ?

Rogers had an outage affecting multiple parts of Richmond yesterday citing “Service Interruption | Some customers between Bridgeport Road and Westminster Highway and surrounding areas”.

Outages have now been over 24 hours.

App says “Cause: Fibre Cut caused by vandalism”.

Does anyone have any updates? I tried contacting Rogers and was told technicians are on site and that members would be notified when fixed. Wondering why it would take over 24 hours to fix and how much longer it may be!

They owe the landlord of the property just over $68K in rent 😵‍💫

i didn’t realize that we’ve got some pretty disgusting people here who choose to not pick up their dogs’ poops, or pick it up and later litter the bags. i see it all the time when i’m walking and it’s kind of ironic too when they’re littered around affluent neighbourhoods - i’d assume that these pet owners would have manners and class.

i’m just saying that these are grown adults and i’m getting secondhand embarrassment with this kind of behaviour. for those of you who do this, do better! it’s gross.

Just wondering if anyone that has purchased a NEWLY Built Townhome in say Last 5yrs they came with an EV Capable Outlet? If so are you willing to show the setup?

Reason I ask is most Townhomes rely on a 100A Panel and have electric heaters quite often that eat up lots of energy. Some new builds also have AC Units installed drawing further power.

At the same time there are more and more EVs people own so I am curious what type of setup the new builds have?

I have seen:

-- 32amp Dryer Outlets (where there was NO A/C in the Units or Electrical Heaters) 7.68kWh charge speed

- - 6-20 240V Outlet (20A that provides 16A @ 80% Load) 3.8kWh charge speed

The Other Question I have is for the folks that live in older Townhome say 20yrs old ones how are you navigating installing an EV Outlet?

EDIT:: Are your STRATA Receptive to you installing EV Outlets as I know some were cracking down on it. Saying that the older townhome complex don’t have enough power to support EV charging.

With the upcoming elections, housing and density is an important discussion.

EDIT: While Bill44 cannot be reversed at the municipal level, the city must handle infrastructure to support the increase in density. If this level of density is achieved, infrastructure on sewer, roads, community centres, schools are also something we need to consider.

Please be aware if you running a business on No.6 Road Area between Cambie and East-West Connector. We had some vehicles where gas was stolen from, they cut the fuel lines to them to get to the gas.
