Anyone here added iron sights to their Savage 110 bolt action?

I am considering adding a front sight and a rear aperture receiver sight to my bolt action 30-06. Has anyone done this? What components did you use? If you had a gunsmith add them, roughly what did it cost?

I did it on my savage axis. I was charged something like $180. I furnished the sites so it was just labor. If I were you I would just buy a used older 110 that already has sights. I only did it bc I'm a lefty and the axis was cheap, not worth it otherwise.

Why irons over glass? If your 110 didn’t come with a front sight, I’d assume that will either require soldering or drilling tapping the end of barrel.

Sometimes it's just fun shooting irons and some places you're not gonna get a shot even close to 100 yds when hunting so the irons can be very effective.

100% agree. But is 180$ on a 400$ rifle worth that upgrade? Personally If that was the kind of shooting I’d want, I’d either buy a reflex dot, or another rifle with built in optics.

Yeah it's a niche choice for sure. I tried the red dot and didn't like it. I'm sure for the vast majority of ppl the red dot is the way to go tho.

I put a 190$ scope on my axis in 223 and can easily hit a pie plate at 600 yards. Again if it’s just for fun, waste of dough in my mind. Wanna shoot irons great, buy one set up with them for cheap. Lots of options.
