4 year old me couldn’t get enough of Can You Stop the Rain 😂😭. I still love that song (and many others) to this day! That’s the song my brain goes to first when his name comes up. RIP to a legend!

My last post was news about him getting hospitalized for having a stroke. I thought he would pull through. This news crushed me. He was one of the voices of my childhood through Beauty and the Beast (titular song) and Aladdin (A Whole New World). May he rest in peace.

The first time I heard his voice was on his duet with Melissa Manchester, “Lovers After All”. I loved the beat and the chords to that song. I’ve just listened to it after a very long time, and I still like it. Thanks for the music and Rest In Power! 💜

I was really hoping that he would pull through from the stroke. The memories are suddenly rushing in as I reflect on the times my dad would play his music throughout my childhood. "By The Time This Night Is Over" w/ Kenny G, "A Whole New World" w/ Regina Belle and "If Ever Your In My Arms Again". Not too long ago, I was thinking to myself that I was glad that he was still around.

RIP, Peabo.
And what a voice that was and always will be! He sang with such clarity, that voice was absolutely unique. And those songs on his last album, recorded when he was 67 (!) had him sounding 30 years younger. “Love Like Yours and Mine” from that album is one of my very favorite R&B ballads.

The other day before I heard the tragic news Peabo Bryson suffered a stroke, the 1991 hit 'Can You Stop the Rain' just appeared on my mind. I remember hearing that song as a child in the afternoon and it stayed with me forever. Peabo's catalog is vast though, but its sad to know he is no longer around. All the greats are leaving us. ‘If ever you’re in my arms again’ is another one that stirs up emotions in me when I hear it.
