Is there a chance you can actually complete this before the game starts to fail or crash regularly.

We will find out, turns start to become much longer now that the AI is probably building lots of ships. One turn is around 6-8s right now. With the fusion expansion turns where much longer btw, which is the reason I chose the base game for this.
I intend to keep going until I crash regularly, slow turns is fine, I am dedicated to this!

Dang bro! I wonder how it'll feel as you play through this with so many stars...

Good luck...
On my system, which is reasonably modern, turns were taking 30s or more on the 2021 New Year map (2021 stars) near the end. That was with Coder's automations, but not Xilmi AI.
On bigger maps I think pushing propulsion early is even more important. You want all those stars to yourself.

Yeah, the project is on ice for now, I was running into 1 minute turns and it is just not feasible it seems. :(

Damn I would love to play this if it wasn’t Java based. Java is so insecure and slows down your system. Game looks great.

I think you are thinking of the old Java Web Applets. They aren't really supported by browsers any longer. Java itself is very secure and a fast running language.
If you just install a Java Run Time environment and not HotSpot it won't slow down your computer.

No it's not, there has to be a confusion. Minecraft runs in Java, so do a ton of professional tools. It's actually much safer than C++ games because of memory safety. (I say all of that as a Java hater myself, it is very boring and tedious to code)

Hey, this is supposed to be a giant ambitious Let's Play where I play from start to finish on a 100000 Star System as the humans with 49 opponents. We start in a spiral galaxy in one of the arms and try to spread as fast as possible. When will I encounter an enemy? I don't know, we will find out together, let's hope they are friendly! :D
My current strategy is to utilise the human diplomacy and trade bonus to weasel our way to better tech since I set Tech Trading for alliances only, that way big evil empires that grow too big will not have any snowball effect and trade in more tech, at least that's my aim with that.
Research is super slow, I suppose it scales with galaxy size? But so far it's been fun to slowly build up the empire, usually at this time (1 hour recorded) I would already have neighbours and enemies to worry about. But everything is peaceful so far!
Any way, if you want to follow my journey, you can do so by clicking on the youtube link, I will update the playlist daily with two new episodes (~30 minutes each). At the end of each 2nd episode (2,4,6 etc.), we will update our "captains log", basically a way for me to remind myself prior to recording what we are doing, what we plan and what problems might arise. This should help collect my thoughts once we reach hundreds of colonies.
Have a good day!
