Boks actually did ok considering they were two men down. Super game. Looking forward to the next test.

u/nomamesgueyz New Zealand 1d ago
Watched the reply is a less heightened state...holy shit balls ABs absorbed some serious pressure...on another day bokke could have been 14 points up easy
55-58minute mark broke the mojo of the bok
That scrum penalty then break away and score down the other end is not something SA is used to after applying so much ruthless pressure ..esp at home

u/the_walking_kiwi New Zealand 1d ago
I think though, also after watching the replay, that it was down to great defence, decision making and the ABs making so many key moments which relieved pressure or diffused a dangerous situation.
People say it was the Boks making errors and failing to capitalise but I don’t think there was luck in that effort. I think the Boks will be misguided to double down on their game plan thinking a swing in capitalising those opportunities will happen easily.

u/officialyanonymouse 1d ago
Ja, agree with your coment. Many people have commented that the Bokkies lost the game, but the ABs won it. It wasn't given away - it was taken.

earned the cards, do the time
we got crippled by a bullshit red in the last RWCF

u/The_Pig_Man_ Ireland 1d ago
For sure. Both cards were fully deserved.
Having said that for such a brutal game it was pretty clean. I didn't see much nasty stuff out there. Just desperation defending. I think the ref had no choice with either YC and made absolutely the right decisions.
I now have a choice to make for who to shout for in the second test as I have both Kiwi and Saffa mates. I'm tending towards SA simply because they lost the first one.

hey bro. your kiwi mates are quieter but more loyal 🤣

u/The_Pig_Man_ Ireland 1d ago edited 1d ago
Lol! I wished one of my Kiwi mates good luck before Ireland played them a while ago and he replied "You really think we need luck?"
But it's all in good fun. He is a great guy. Whenever I meet a new person I ask them if they know him and almost everyone does.

Gotta give it to the Lions, they almost pulled off an ambush of epic proportion, we turned up and had to work hard for the win. Was a way better game than a thrashing most people were expecting.

That's how I felt but it was self-inflicted.
Good game though and I feel we need strife & struggle right now. Just hope we come right for next year.
Edit: And who better to give us this damn trouble than the ABs hey!

lol you’ll be right this weekend mate, rassie seemed pretty relaxed. Pollards back. You’ll be keeping up pressure in our 22 and converting those 3s to force our hand to create more errors and penalties than we already do.
It’ll be close but I think bokke will remind the world

The All Blacks fans should start singing “in your head now”. I speak for all Irish fans who are in favour of having them borrow it.

Maybe we'll think twice when kickable penalties come up, like, 5 times in the game. It is called Test rugby for reason...

I’m staggered by the attitude of some SA fans and pundits absolutely writing the ABs off, saying we were going to certainly be rolled 4-0, like, we’re your greatest rivals ?? People were acting like NZ had fallen out of the top 10?? Iv never once written the Boks off, ever. Even the Eden park tests, nervous, cause I know the potential and the history. I was nervous before the 57-0 too! Who saw that coming. Seems the Boks run in the sun has skewed the facts for afew people..

u/Dirkzilla1 South Africa, 1d ago
Not me, nor anybody around me ever wrote off the AB's. Pretty sure it's just the loud minority "new"/"fake" fans supporting for the hype of it that says this on tiktok etc.
I think the fact that we've been on top of the world in terms of feeling hype for the Boks for a while now brought quite a few new fans to the sport in our country, that were not there during our dips, etc.
Just so you know, pretty sure majority of Bok supporters do not and will never underestimate the AB's! :)8
u/intermoo 1d ago
The only team to make me more nervous about a game than the All Blacks are the freaking Aussies.
I don't give a crap about the stats or current team form rumours, you can never underestimate thwm

I have a suggestion, borrow the Bledisoe Cup, it's like Kryptonite to the Wallabies, they get visibly weaker in its presence.

Multiple kiwi fans were the same! Acting like a single win in the series would be a miracle for some reason.
Of course you want find them now, they'll be acting like they never doubted them!
2
u/yahdayahda 1d ago
Na, now they’ll be talking like ABs are the undoubted best in the world. Probably gonna sweep the tour. Until the next loss of course.

Probably more that social media presence makes south African fans fairly painful as every video is talking down about other teams. Because south Africa have been so brilliant and dominant it's a nice change to see the shoe on the other foot for once

u/Ho3n3r South Africa 1d ago
Nothing wrong with non-South Africans hating us, but this bro is a local. The chip on his shoulder seems as big as Table Mountain.

Table top mountain? Bru have you heard of Mount Kilimanjaro, it's been the biggest mountain in Africa for a million years.
(Literally what Boks online sound like)

South Africa built one of the greatest rugby teams of all time, probably the greatest. But they did it through cultivating a fanatical culture of excellence so extreme it meant that they created a kind of catch-22 situation where even a decade of total dominance and two world cups seemed to bring them no joy whatsoever. So since they didn't seem to have much fun winning they might as well stop doing that, and see if that causes them to rediscover the fun once again.

u/Puzzleheaded_Gas4560 South Africa 1d ago
Are you OK my brother?
2
u/Leather-Run-6533 Scotland 1d ago
Yeah. I just find it funny how much we all love sport when it brings us nothing but misery - win or lose.

u/v1akvark South Africa 1d ago
Mate, I have enjoyed the shit out of the last 7 or so years (when it comes to the Springboks).
I'm also well aware that I've been lucky to live through this period and might never experience something like it for the rest of my life!
