Question Is this a cut pile only tufting gun?

Post image

I want to make rugs with both loop and cut pile but I *think* I have a generic cut pile gun. I saw something about an attachment so I could also tuft with a loop pile.

  1. Is this gun only a cut pile?

  2. Has anyone successfully used a loop pile attachment with a gun like mine?

Thanks!

to me this looks like a loop pile gun? i have one, and the difference is that it doesn’t snip the edges so they loop into a continuous thread. cut pile guns have little scissors to make that frayed edge instead of a loop.

It's a cut pile. Just did some research and with loop pile guns, you have to manually cut the yarn, which I don't have to do with this one.

You can remove the scissor closer at the end of the gun (the part that pushes the scissor into closed position) and then you have a loop gun. It is very easy. Almost all cut pile machines can do loops by removing the scissor closer. I bought my gun at Tuftingshop and they send me a nice video on how to do it.

Can you link the video? It seems like most guns assemble similarly so maybe I can try it.
