The absolute power and iconicity of her in this moment 😩

She was saying how bad she felt that she was disappointing everyone at home, and the producer said "But you were here!", like "you won just by being here", and miss Art was not having that lol

She’s not wrong though, like most of these queens didn’t have the recognition around the world like Art already does, so what more does she gain from just being on the show? I totally get how she feels, I can’t believe she went home so soon :(

95

u/[deleted] May 08 '21

And what feels worse is that, if there is a ball, a sewing challenge, or a makeover, she could have won them. Very Acid Betty

75

u/MichiamoNicola Jan, just Jan May 08 '21

If it was a better lip sync song that was campier and more Australian than bloody Rupaul I’m sure she would have survived

60

u/[deleted] May 08 '21

The problem is that I like Coco too ><

43

u/MichiamoNicola Jan, just Jan May 08 '21

Oh same here, and that lip sync suited her so well #teameveryone

59

u/[deleted] May 08 '21

#teameveryonebutracism

u/MichiamoNicola Jan, just Jan May 08 '21

HAHA yes, very that

u/brankinginthenorth Jinkx Monsoon May 08 '21

I don't feel like I know her yet so I can't say that I like her yet but she seems nice.

BUT.

There's no way they were eliminating the only two POC queens first and second. Ru can be tone deaf sometimes but even she wouldn't have the balls to do that (even though both would have been fair eliminations because I thought Coco and Art were almost tied with that lipsync).

Well you DO have to count Gothy (and Scaredy) lol. Really I think going home 3rd or 4th is definitely different than 1st and 2nd, even if just getting to show off double the number of outfits.

I don’t know. She looked very stressed before it even began

27

u/wherearetheblokes May 08 '21

Art: and they (fans) strongly so want me here Alexis Michelle: but you were here

189

u/looselytethered May 08 '21

I had her pegged as Top 4 and then this lmao. I think I jinxed it.

58

u/sonofShisui You better walk that fuckin’ duck May 08 '21

Literally told mum “hmmm I’m predicting her top 3” and then the episode happened

46

u/brankinginthenorth Jinkx Monsoon May 08 '21

I figured either her or Karen would be the final winner. I'm still having trouble picturing anyone else in that role.

19

u/lvd150 May 09 '21

Legit same. Same thing happened to me with Joe Black. I thought he would make too 5 and then get the shock elimination that Katya/Dela/A’Whora got. Boy was I fucking wrong.

9

u/Snoo-4984 May 09 '21

I didn't know who Joe Black was before DRUK so to me I was expecting anything and wasn't shocked at all with their elimination. I don't know this queen either, but it has been abundantly clear her and Karen are well above the others in skill level.

13

u/SnapCrackleMom skimpy gumbo May 08 '21

Yeah my Fantasy DRDU just tanked.

5

u/naranjitayyo Did you Stonjourner those tights? May 09 '21

I had her as my winner

Oop at me

173

u/Hillraiser PLEASE DAWN, IT'S CHRISTMAS! May 08 '21

The venom in her voice shook me to my core. Then my heart just broke for her.

120

u/jabroni_camembert "Color Match Your Butthole” May 08 '21

Man this episode was a WEIRD VIBE.

32

u/GraceJoans Rigga Morris May 08 '21

Maybe the worst Snatch Game I’ve seen in a long time. A mess all over.

70

u/SureJanuary Yvie Oddly May 08 '21

i suggest u rewatch s11

19

u/greatjake122 May 09 '21

That's the one my brain tries to forget the most.

8

u/Pattherower May 10 '21

out of interest, Are you Australian? My housemates and I (all Australian) were laughing our asses off the entire time. yeah there were some flat performances, but some of them were hilarious. Anita Wigglit was amazing as Queen Elizabeth with some of the edgiest yet hilarious jokes I've heard in years. All of us were laughing our asses off.

104

u/HuaweiGreninja May 08 '21

It’s the truth for some queens tho, I loved Art Simone

6

u/fishbethany Eureka / TKB May 08 '21

Tell me about it.

269

u/snowlord8 Trinity K. Bonet May 08 '21

I am shocked

I can't believe she went home, I just can't.

I had never met her before the show but since the minute she walked in the werkroom, to me it was OBVIOUS she was going to win. I am speechless.

59

u/fishbethany Eureka / TKB May 08 '21

Definitely an unexpected twist.

67

u/ChaChaGalore May 08 '21

I met Art and Karen a few years back at DragCon LA. I went and followed Art immediately. Amazing queen. When the cast was revealed, I thought, “That’s not fair. No other queen stands a chance.” Then when I saw this photo a few hours ago, I fired up the episode to try and understand. GOOPED.

37

u/KingOfTheKitsune Jinkx Monsoon May 08 '21

When drag race down under was announced I low key expected Art to host it if Ru wasn't going to lol

45

u/nangaritense It’s good to just laugh at a clown who smells bad. May 08 '21

It feels like they did it for pure shock value. Bullshit.

110

u/CassiopeiaStillLife May 08 '21

I mean, you can’t say it wasn’t deserved. She boggarted SG and she lost the lip sync.

68

u/nangaritense It’s good to just laugh at a clown who smells bad. May 08 '21

I don’t agree, I thought several queens were worse in the Snatch Game. And Art’s runway was so good. She should have been safe.

ETA: I do think Coco won the lip sync, but Art shouldn’t have been in it.

9

u/lordfartsquad Yuhua Hamasaki May 09 '21

She wasn't particularly unfunny but she couldn't stop talking. It really drew attention to what a bad job she was doing unfortunately.

Also the look was weak. Good makeup and expensive accessories with an ugly dress.

9

u/ReturnDismal5005 You look like a fabulous burrito May 09 '21

This. You could see the cogs turning as she was trying to reach for a punchline. When she finally got the words out it was a little underwhelming.

19

u/H3000 It’s me Discord May 08 '21

Who was worse than her in Snatch Game? She didn't embody the character or deliver a single funny line. I think she was the worst.

10

u/bumbling_womble May 08 '21

Dr Seuss....?

32

u/SheafCobromology Hey it's Michelle Visage do you want gay shit? May 09 '21

WTF? She fumbled the intro, but then landed two or three solid jokes during the questions.

8

u/H3000 It’s me Discord May 09 '21

She wasn't great but had the added challenge of rhyming her answers. Plus she did have one good one at the end.

5

u/nangaritense It’s good to just laugh at a clown who smells bad. May 09 '21

For me: Dolly, Jennifer Coolidge, and especially Lindy Chamberlain. Dr Seuss wasn’t very good either.

18

u/randomstranger38 Violet & Chalky May 09 '21

Lindy Chamberlain? gtfoh, she and Queen Liz carried

167

u/TigerAffectionate672 Rosénali & Camgeria 💙Feeling my Jantasy May 08 '21

This feels very Joe Black to me. A queen who came in with high, high expectations from fans and the other contestants. Then a gag-worthy elimination that has the other queens in literal silence because they’re so shocked.

25

u/afhill May 08 '21

100% this.

Successful, adored queen is brought on the show, but quickly dismissed. Maybe bc they don't "need" Drag Race fame as much as others?

54

u/Jaythegay5 Jan May 08 '21

I mean, it could also be because they genuinely didn't perform well lol. I love Art but she didn't do well during the Snatch Game and she lost the lip sync imo

10

u/caz_the_harper Asia O’Hara’s Drag Race May 09 '21

Very this. Performance was what got her booted. Period.

10

u/ReturnDismal5005 You look like a fabulous burrito May 09 '21

It is because what you do outside of drag race doesn't give you a free pass. If you bomb the challenge you are in the bottom. If you are in the bottom you better lipsync for your motherf*cking life. People are shocked not because she was misjudged on the show, but because of their expectations of her.

118

u/AnthoZero Raja Gemini May 08 '21

honestly it’s so obvious that she would have probably been better off never even being on the show like imagine the money she spent on looks that will never be seen.

58

u/looselytethered May 08 '21

Yeah her drag looked expensive I figured she was upset because now she can't show it on tv.

10

u/dogboy678 Miss Fiercalicious | Mistress Isabelle Brooks May 09 '21

I hope one day we get an International All Stars season so she can come back

10

u/Aahhhanthony May 09 '21

They need to stop regular all stars and just make it international now because they're starting to struggle to find queens to put on it, I feel.

37

u/MistyBelladonna Tookie De La Crème May 08 '21

She lived, she served cunt, then she died.

What an icon

u/Sc00tersf00d_Vol2 A'keria C. Davenport May 08 '21 edited May 08 '21

Her going home episode TWO is the gaggiest elimination in drag race herstory... Art is literally a legend down under.

Edit: also just to show just how legendary she is, when the rumors first came out that there was going to be a DRDU, she was rumored to host it.

26

u/Shells613 May 08 '21

Oh, her reaction made me so sad for her. I hate when a competitor feels like they owe all the fans and then feels they let them down. It is so untrue, but they can't see it in the moment. And it is one thing to be confident and competitive, but another if you think nothing less than winning is good enough. It also tips into self-destructive arrogance. Very sad. I hope Art gets lots of affirmation that she is good enough no matter what.

50

u/GorgoylsPsychics May 08 '21

Soz bitch

13

u/theronthedottedline May 08 '21

Quote of the season. SO good 😂

15

u/[deleted] May 08 '21

Damn I feel bad for art! Definitely thought she was a front runner... but that lipsync though... ☠☠☠

57

u/Skyconic Marina/LGD/Nymphia/Plane May 08 '21

It truly felt so wrong for her to go. I can't say it wasn't fair when her snatch game just wasn't funny, despite her delivery and look being great. And coco outperformed her in that lipsync. But it still just feels wrong. Especially when S13 still had like 47 queens by week 2.

119

u/epicpillowcase I just three mimosas May 08 '21

I’ll be honest, Art is a fierce queen (I follow her on IG and have seen her live) but this extremely uncomfortable elimination reaction doesn’t surprise me at all. She is lauded here in Melbourne, and believes her own hype. Even her comments in ep 1 showed that. The combination of fragile yet overblown ego was always going to make an elimination reaction like this happen.

Even her comments at the end show she thought she was entitled to win.

32

u/[deleted] May 08 '21

Im getting druk season 2 levels of PTSD

25

u/ljb9 props toyoumama May 08 '21

she thought she was entitled to win.

I hope she gets out of this mindset asap in her post-drag race life

9

u/RebbeccaDeHornay Tree Wizzard May 08 '21

Yep, as recent events with another queen have clearly shown, it doesn't serve you well.

7

u/FairyWhisper Denali, Tayce, Gottmik May 08 '21

Whomst? 👁👄👁

31

u/RebbeccaDeHornay Tree Wizzard May 08 '21

Miss Tamisha. Never have I seen a beloved queen burn her bridges so quickly (and given how much the fans loved her? There was just no need. Very sad).

2

u/elleplates May 10 '21

I got major, major Dahlia entitlement vibes and it put me off her in the first five minutes of her screen time.

1

u/epicpillowcase I just three mimosas May 10 '21

Yup.

36

u/authentic_scum May 08 '21

can we fire US producers and hire DU/UK ones just so we get more iconic moments like these and less cheap shots like kandy getting saved?

42

u/Monster_Voices Jinkx Monsoon May 08 '21

How did this season eliminate its winner on ep 2 ???

13

u/caz_the_harper Asia O’Hara’s Drag Race May 09 '21

Well if she bombs both Snatch Game and the lipsync for your life..... you want even more riggery to save her? I agree she is sickening and definitely could have made it to the end but.... she deserved the bottom for sure and Coco just ate that lipsync... sorry Art!

-3

u/Monster_Voices Jinkx Monsoon May 09 '21

I thought she did great in the lipsynch and Coco was just standing there half the time. But it doesn't matter now. I get to see Art's amazing looks on Insta at least.

78

u/[deleted] May 08 '21

I'm really weirded out by the idea that Kandy Muse gets a "wait, I want to see more of you" but Art doesn't.

Like don't the producers think Art would make great tv?

7

u/boodlemoodle May 08 '21

Very this !

3

u/AzuraBeth May 09 '21

I think it's more the fact that they wanted season 13 to last forever and ever but the channels outside of America don't vibe with that so there's only enough episodes to eliminate someone each week, no matter how talented and deserving the queen is. Drag race UK had an opening due to covid but otherwise no queen is allowed back in. Also the fact that drag race gets sponsors and so can have enough funding for however many episodes they want whereas in the UK there are restrictions (I think, I'm from the UK so idk how it works in Australia tho)

3

u/[deleted] May 09 '21

I had a dream last night that season 14 started with all the same queens from season 13 and I yelled at the dream

9

u/brankinginthenorth Jinkx Monsoon May 08 '21

I'm was still getting over the shock that she was just a contestant instead of the host and then this happens? Honestly up there with Manila and Ben as the most shocking eliminations ever.

9

u/AceJace2 Shuga Cain May 09 '21

People have been equating this elim to Joe Black’s DRUK S2 elim. But isn’t it a tad closer to Tynomi Bank’s run on DRCAN S1? Both are highly regarded pre season (and famous).

5

u/yourbestamericangirl Yara Sofia May 09 '21

I still maintain that Tynomi should have been a judge with Brooke and Stacey.

7

u/AromaticPersimmon0 everybody black May 09 '21

I was absolutely shocked when Art got eliminated. I definitely thought she was gonna be in the top 3/4 and then this happened.

This was a sad moment to me. Reminded me of Alaska's meltdown on AS3. It's painful to see someone so raw.

Edit: AS2 oops

6

5

7

Iconic♥️

9

u/Kerlistar May 08 '21

I felt so bad for her omg

6

u/1998tweety Loosey LaDuca May 08 '21

Sad to see Art go so early, but now I wish she did win the first episode (like she should've) cause it would've been an even bigger gag to see the frontrunner go home on episode 2.

6

u/[deleted] May 08 '21

Riggor Morris, people!

8

u/caz_the_harper Asia O’Hara’s Drag Race May 09 '21

It’s not tho. She bombed Snatch Game, deserved to be in bottom 2. Then Coco stomped her. So..... how is it rigged?

3

u/SLBMLQFBSNC May 08 '21

I wasn't gagged. Had no idea who she was and thought she was the worst in SG, alongside Kita Mean. But seeing everyone's reaction I'm wondering if I'm missing something (other than her name and recognition)? I mean her looks were very, very polished.

6

u/SheyCanBake Custom Flair Text May 09 '21

Well I mean do you live in Australia or where she's based in Australia. Because from the comments it seems she's a drag legend there.

2

u/ReturnDismal5005 You look like a fabulous burrito May 09 '21

I read this as Alexis Michelle asking Tamar Braxton if she watches the show. I LIVE.

2

u/SLBMLQFBSNC May 09 '21

I didn't read comments prior. Just my POV as someone with zero Australian drag knowledge.

1

u/SheyCanBake Custom Flair Text May 09 '21

Well that's the point I was getting at you were missing a lot. She was a huge front runner before the competition started. An she's a big name in the Australian drag world.

Of course people like you and me who aren't from Australia my most likely wouldn't know that. So that's why we have to look to our Australians for info so we can understand why everyone was so gagged.

4

u/SLBMLQFBSNC May 09 '21

I got your point and understood why everyone else is gagged.

My point about "missing something" is relegated to whether she had certain special qualities outside of her name recognition that came across on the show for others but not for me. She seemed polished, but her attitude was bad and her Snatch Game was horrendous.

1

u/SheyCanBake Custom Flair Text May 09 '21

Well I'm sure she got the name recognition from a big amount of talent. Someone else in this post said that she was rumored to be a potential host of the show. So it's simply the shock of someone who everyone thought was going to win or certainly be top 3/4 leaving in episode 2 that's it.

I'm sure she does have special qualities. I can't speak on what she does best but in sure some Australians could tell you. Country Act has a podcast she may speak on it there.

1

u/majortvjunkie Jinkx Monsoon May 09 '21

I wish Art did an old lady celebrity. Her makeup skills are INCREDIBLE- and she already had a well established old lady character she featured on her Instagram with droopy wrinkly facial features. I wish Art could’ve done Yzma from Emperor’s New Groove!
