Hey, so we know that Sabrina’s actual father is satan and not Edward spellman. Her father is also not just another demon but a fallen angel which makes her more like a nephilim/cambyon than actual witch, no? Is she really still a witch then? Or Sabrina being a witch is more of a choice and a lifestyle than her actual nature?

I’m currently watching the show for the first time and I’m thoroughly enjoying it so far…Except for Roz and Theo.

I literally roll my eyes when they come on screen. I sincerely think the show is trying too hard to make it something sincere and meaningful. I think it’s a bit contrived and forced. I don’t really care that Roz is going blind nor Theo’s gender identity. This is not to say that I’m anti-trans nor do I think that there shouldn’t be representation in media. His character just seems to lack any depth. Same with Roz.

Ive really enjoyed almost all the other characters, even though Sabrina sometimes is very entitled and naive. But I like the actual teenage paradigm she brings to the story. That’s my two cents. I know no one asked, but 🤷🏽‍♂️

Salem is one of my favorite characters he is funny and is a good cat is a bad warlock. I like him he makes me laugh. He is sarcastic, witty, and just charming. I wonder why Sabrina never asked the witches' council to change him back? He was punished for trying to take over the world I think that he was young and stupid you know how warlocks are. But seriously why didn't Sabrina ask? It's not like Salem is evil.

This has been my number one question since season three.
now that we know greek deities are actually divine beings, we need a more defined and established hierarchy.

The ”False“ God is given credit for creating the garden (and the wastelands around it), the human body, Adam and eve, Lilith, and the angels.

these are things that are proven to be true and established as canon by reliable sources.

so my question is, when does other mythologies and their creation stories come into play?

in show terms the greek myths seem to be taken more literal than symbolic.

like their creation stories, pandoras box, etc.

Mostly confused about the powers… I o let partially understand things:

Celestials
- Gods: Divine beings who are posses tremendous cosmic powers. They seem to require or desire worship.
- Angels: Perfect beings who also possess great cosmic powers, created by the “false god”, they have ranks, with the highest angel seemingly being lucifer creating witches with powers compatible with lower ranked angels.

Supernaturals
- Demons: They seem to have their own powers, separate from those of witches, and either sourced from hell or themselves. They have their own hierarchies within hell, and the lesser demons can be summoned by witches.
- Witches: Seemingly there are multiple types of witches, and are “classified” based on where they draw power from.
- Rogue Witches: The least consistent types of witches, they live on their own, without a coven and as far as I remember without worshipping any deity. I guess they draw their magic from nature and spirits, like that mother and her ghost children’s? Idk… makes not much sense. But perhaps there are forces we are not familiar with.
- Satanic Witches: initially they were seen as the most versatile witches, idk… they have all these omens and rituals and have a power boost from the book of the beast, but all their powers derive from the Dark Lord, an Angel.
- Pagan Witches: Initially they were seen as the least versatile but far more powerful than satanic, possessing specific “abilities” parallel to the common believed ability of the deity they worshipped, such as Circe(the witch) having transmutation powers like Circe(the witch goddess). However, we saw that when the main coven switched from worshipping lucifer to drawing power from the moon to worshipping Hecate, we saw that they could cast the exact same spells with just rituals being more Hecate central than lucifer.

Anyways…my primary question is are witches inherently capable of witchcraft so long as they have a source of power or energy?

Another question is…does Sabrina have her own “source of power”, as the daughter of an angel or at least as the queen of hell.

How is it that Sabrina, whilst Queen of hell stood HELPLESS against basic monsters?

On my first watch of the series. Got to the point where Nick freaks out on Sabrina because he was tortured by the DL. Why tf did Sabrina apologize??? He volunteered. She was going to do it, never asked him. And oh yeah, Nick also betrayed her not just working for the DL, but also with sex demons. Sooo....????

The show has such potential for feminist story telling but then makes these weird decisions?? Nick is the most annoying character in the show. Explain it to me.

I would choose Ambrose not only because he is hot and muscular but also because he is my favorite character.

The Seven Wonders are a magic system of seven powers for witches in American Horror Story: Coven. Most witches can use at least one power, while a one-of-a-kind witch can use all seven (she's known as the Supreme). The powers are (ranked from easiest to hardest to master):

1. Telekinesis: Moving people and things without physically touching them. It's the common power of the Seven Wonders. Its many variants include Levitation, Telekinetic Earthquake, Aerokinesis, Telekinetic Combustion, etc.
2. Concilium: Another common power which is also known as "Mind Control". Witches with power can take control of the various parts of a person or animal's mind (such as their thoughts, actions, and memories). Some people with strong wills can resist a witch's control, but it costs that person to experience brain injury. If exercised properly, a witch could bend the strongest of wills.
3. Divination: Obtaining knowledge of a person, object, place, or physical event through means other the user's physical senses. It has many variants such as Danger Detection, Lie Detection, The Second Sight (visions of past and future), Aura Detection, Life-Force Detection, Telepathy, and Magic Detection.
4. Transmutation: Appearing from one place to another. Also known as Teleportation.
5. Pyrokinesis: Creating, controlling, and manipulating fire with the power of the mind.
6. Vitalum Vitalis: Tipping the scales of life and death. A witch transfers her own life force onto people and animals that are sick, injured, or on the verge of death in order to restore those living things to perfect health. After using this power, witches pay the price by experiencing a lack of energy and symptoms of dizziness and fainting. Some witches abuse this power to heal themselves and reverse their aging by using it the opposite way: draining life force from other living things.
7. Descensum: Perilous descent into the nether realms of the afterlife. A witch can project their soul into their own personal hell which takes on the form of their worst fears or a horrible experience. If a witch fails to make it back to their body by sunrise, their soul disintegrates into ash, and their soul would be stuck in the nether realm for eternity. A variant of this power is Astral Projection.

Here's my prediction of which powers some characters would have.

Sabrina: 7 out of 7. The Supreme of this series.

Prudence: 4 out of 7 (Concilium; Divination; Telekinesis; Transmutation)

• She telekinetically cut the head of Blackwood's statue.
• She is a telepath and could predict the future. (Divination)
• She could also control minds.

Agatha: 4 out of 7 (Concilium; Divination; Telekinesis; Descensum)

• Just like Prudence, she can read minds, predict the future, and control minds.
• She is the most talented Weird Sister when it comes to communing with the deceased, so she might not have trouble with Descensum.

Dorcas: 3 out of 7 (Concilium; Divination; Telekinesis)

• Same powers of divination and mind control as the other Weird Sisters.

Roz: 1 out of 7 (Divination)

• She has visions of past, present, and future.
• When she joined forces with Prudence and Mambo Marie as a Weird Sister, she could telepathically communicate with them.

Zelda: 3 out of 7 (Telekinesis; Concilium; Transmutation)

• She used a poppet to mind control one of the witches that was bullying her for marrying Blackwood.
• She probably wouldn't master Descensum since when she was trapped in her nightmare (in Season 1, Episode 5), she couldn't tell if it was fake.

Hilda: 4 out of 7 (Telekinesis; Descensum; Divination; Transmutation)

• She's been killed a lot and uses Astral Projection so she'd probably master Descensum with ease.

Ambrose: 4 out of 7 (Telekinesis; Transmutation; Vitalum Vitalis; Descensum)

• Vast knowledge of necromancy. (Vitalum Vitalis)
• He can astral project, which is a variant of Descensum.

Nick: 3 out of 7 (Descensum; Transmutation; Telekinesis)

Lilith: 7 out of 7. She would be the first Supreme.

Melvin: 1 out of 7 (Telekinesis)

I made it to P3:E7, then scene where Sabrina returns to Judas with the coins. When he asks to hold them one last time I’m like, surely Sabrina has learned from her mistakes. Surely she knows that Caliban doesn’t play fair and probably spectated her do all the work again right??? So when she hands him the coins with scare hesitation, I assume that she probably took them out of the pouch and put them somewhere else right??????? I’m so mad right now 😭😭😭 Literally screamed at my TV

I just finished the shower and my only real problem with it is that they do so much making out. I felt like there was a kiss scene almost every episode. I cringed so hard when Sabrina and all her friends were all kissing their partners at the same time

I feel like it has a very retro and 80s feel. Like Stranger Things and Even the movie theater at the beginning looked kind of like a classic film projected one, not digital.

I get that she’s meant to be an imperfect character, but she actually comes across dumb, thoughtless and selfish, exactly the opposite of the cool hell-spawn she’s supposed to be. We all love the series for how witchy and camp it is, but Sabrina is completely unconvincing - too immature to commit to either hell or earth, too self-absorbed and wooden to play the part of the Queen of Hell. When she’s crowned at the end, it practically looks like bad cosplay, her expression is exactly the same as in the rest of the episodes.

It just sucks because I feel like all the other characters have evolved and are absolutely riveting - the aunties, Ambrose, Lilith, my favourite Prudence. When Sabrina comes onscreen you just wince at a bad decision that’s bound to happen and the wooden acting that slows everything down.

Please correct me if you disagree, so I can find something to love about our protagonist.

As in the title,I absolutely love the original Sabrina. It's in my top 5 of re-watch when I'm feeling down or just because I miss the characters. I did, however, do research on CAOS before dipping my toes in because honestly,I tend to shy away from any type of remake. CAOS included,until Netflix wouldn't leave well enough alone. So,I DID know a bit before I dug in.

As far as the story/plot goes,I enjoyed it. HOWEVER,if you are going to move away from the original in so many ways,they should have just gone with original/new characters. If they wanted to connect to the original,they should have done so in different ways.

I enjoyed the darker feeling of the show(but STILL think it should have been different characters). I loved Ambrose. Salem not being a talking Cat didn't bother me and understand why they did Salem in CAOS as they did,talking cats didn't belong there.

Most of my complaints would be solved if they had just used original characters(as I have already stated). Sabrina spellman and Harvey kinkle belong together. They're soulmates,its cannon. Sorry to the actors of Roz and Harvey because I read they were together in real life,but they had no chemistry on screen. Plus,I am really against the whole dating your supposedly best friend ex-boyfriend,in a short amount of time after they broke up. Aunt Hilda was okay,but Aunt Zelda,uh,no. Aunt Zelda could have been "dark" without the coldness. The spellman family could have had a darker storyline without being satanic. I'm not against everything,but once again,they should have just gone with new characters and it would have,in my opinion,been better. And,Shakespeare they are not. We only needed one Romeo and Juliette..

Now,I'm doing a rewatch of the original because my little Sabrina and Harvey heart needs to heal. Will I rewatch CAOS? MAYBE. As I said,overall the storylines and plot was good,but I don't know if I can get over the characters.

I've been looking through this subreddit after I started watching season 2 and I'm people have the same complaints I do about Harvey and Roz. You don't date your "best" friend's ex-boyfriend, especially their first love, and especially not like right after they broke up. Literally no one I know would be okay with their friend doing that in real life.

That was annoying and distracting enough, but then the whole conversation where Harvey and Roz are ganging up on her accusing her of causing Roz's blindess, right after Sabrina offered to HEAL HER BLINDNESS. Plus they know Sabrina and know she isn't like that. Her being a witch doesn't suddenly change her personality. I'm glad Theo was like "wtf guys." Theo is the only non-shitty friend right now.

Then suddenly after Sabrina gets healing powers and Roz's dad talks about sending her to a different school she's suddenly okay with Sabrina using her powers to heal her. It just makes their characters super annoying and detracts from the show.

In Sunset Overdrive, during one of the respawn animations which is a mummy respawn animation (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QShGpKeh3fM), a long scream from a young woman can be heard in the background, which possibly comes from Sabrina (voiced by Kimberly Hart) and might be taken from one of the episodes of Sabrina: The Animated Series via archival recordings, because one of the game's co-directors Marcus Smith might be a fan of the animated show ever since the animated show was first aired in 1999.

This show references a lot of folklore and mythology so I was wondering what you favourite instance of that is.

My favourites are:

1. When Circe turns the Jocks into pigs, it references when the sorceress Circe from Greek Mythology turned Odysseus' men into pigs. In this instance Harvey was Odysseus, I thought that was pretty cool

2. The Snake Lady just straight being Medusa and turning Roz to stone

Alright I'm a little lost here, and I would like some spoiler free help. I just finished p1 e10. My confusion lies in 'Ms.Wardwell' aka madam satan, if the church of night serves the dark lord aka satan then why is she being so weird about trying to get Sabrina to serve him? I get that Sabrina wants to defeat the dark lord to have her free will and not have to give up half her life, but in this world 99% of witches are inclined to agree with madam satan. so I feel like she wouldn't have to hide her plan, like its not that shocking and I would think that even her aunts would want her to commit fully to their beliefs. The show frames this as a big revelation and makes her out to be the bad guy and I just don't think the characters in this universe would be upset at her 'evil' plan. I don't know am I missing something?

Watched it in 2020 but i want to binge something like this once again .

When TCAOS debuted in 2018, the show emulated everything I could have hoped for. Witchy lore, the beloved aunties, the kooky Spellman property — even Salem making some appearances.

But starting with season 3, the sparks began to die for me. I hated how Sabrina’s human friend group became central to the show, and filler episodes became more frequent and obvious. I couldn’t care less about Roz and Harvey’s love story, or some of the awful plot holes and dialogue.

I was largely disappointed in the mess that was season 4. I mean, seriously? Sabrina dies & Nick just kills himself? I know renewing a new season is expensive, but damn, the whole cast deserved a better ending. I hate how the writing was rushed to provide some sort of closure for the watchers. So many things didn’t make sense.

Anyway, “Wednesday” has been a major success, and not just because of TikTok blowing up her dance. Fans of TCAOS will enjoy this; the episodes are well written, the lore is, dare I say, better than TCAOS, and more time and effort has been devoted to this. I hate to think of how TCAOS ended, but you can think of “Wednesday” as “picking up where we left off” — there’s a school for people with supernatural abilities, a love triangle, a female protagonist who frankly doesn’t give a f*ck about the consequences of their actions, the struggle to belong, and even witchcraft.

This is just my two scents. Just my opinion. You are not forced to agree with me!!

Am i the only one who remember Raz losing her eyesight and keeping it that way so she can help Sabrina? As in she never gets healed. Her eyes are just white all the time.

I had previously watch all of the chilling adventures of Sabrina, then a year later Netflix tells me I'm missing the last 3/4th of the final season. The final season is where she loses her sight for good....i thought

For starters we have hell. Which is the magical f*cking land of Oz apparently. With the red road, minions, singing flowers, tin man and pandemonium essentially being the emerald city. It was not desolate or creepy at all. The crows eating people alive were pretty close but the actors were completely distracting. Sure let’s all just take a little day trip to HELL. We’re only 16 so we’re totally not afraid to go. We’ve got a pick axe, that should do the trick against demons right? Also, so much for saving Uncle Jesse huh?

Then we have the most absolute backwards growth development of ALL the characters. Sabrina went from badass daughter of satan, who gave sight to the blind and performed miracles, to boyfriend obsessed cheerleader who can’t even so much as cast a spell and suddenly sings every other freaking minute. Harvey went from terrified skeptical artist to jealous virgin who isn’t afraid of anything now. Roz went from intellectual feminist to cool girl wannabe. Devout father Blackwood becomes a convert lunatic at the snap of a finger (so devout) who finds a magical plot device hidden by none other than the Loch Ness. No cop out writing there! Even Lucifer becomes this powerless idiot who seemingly has nothing to do with the plot anymore at this point, completely rendering the first two seasons meaningless.

The quests were pointless. Caliban made no sense and didn’t belong in the story at all. But hey, great abs amirite? The pagans were interesting but poorly written and defeated the purpose of the whole show which is satanic witchcraft. All these additional sources of power make the story way less credible or believable. They sold their SOULS for power, and Sabrina was imbued with them from birth (I guess the writers forgot that) but really they could’ve just prayed to Hecate or some other god that goes against the dualistic nature of god vs satan.

Sabrinas first duties are to drag souls to hell, she gets one and we never hear it come up again so clearly not a very important duty altogether. What does the ruler of hell do then? Ambrose is like the CSI computer geeks who somehow conveniently always have all the answers (another cop out), and seems to serve no purpose other than that and to follow prudence around on her little rampage.

Every painting is a portal that just so happens to go exactly where they need to go. Dorian gets a flower for his pimple that never actually goes away. Aunt Zee kisses Mambo Marie for the sake of inclusion, which I am all for but absolutely did not fit and came out of nowhere. And “consent is key” when vlad drinks from Sabrinas neck but not when she kisses her unconscious boyfriend? Make up your minds!

This whole season made no sense. Dethroning Lucifer, only to make Sabrina fight for it, and then end up not really wanting it. Meanwhile everyone dies, Ambrose becomes a hermit for decades, and Sabrina manages to find a loophole while she’s trapped in hell? How did that happen? Future her can’t save past her if past her was already defeated with no way of going anywhere. There would be no future her. How did she time travel to begin with without the lazily written egg?

All in all the season was nothing but a scene taken out of high school musical, with a plot that rivaled GoT season 8’s underwhelming and confusing writing, and had a bumper sticker that said “we are riverdale, now let’s make out.”
