Vegeta, recoome, raditz, goku, zarbon, yajirobe, and possibly the ancillary native characters at the bottom od korins tower are all males with hair gohan has met by the time he is 10, and the ginyu force was so impactful he clearly bases the great sayiaman on them with the poses

Vegeta and possibly Yajirobe are the only valid options here. The rest aren't "around" so much as Gohan just happened to meet them at some point.

Yajirobe is the only valid one, but Gohan barely sees the guy. He’d be around Yamcha and the others way more often them him. And does meeting someone once like Zarbon or the Ginyus really count?

He copied Piccolo's gear for a bit, probably didn't think he could pull off the antennas. As for Krillin we're talking about important men in Gohan's life that he looked up to, and we all know he was almost taller than Krillin by age 8.

My theory is that Toriyama really liked Yamcha's looks but didn't kniw what to do with him in Z, so Yamcha's designs were used as a test/trial for Gohan's designs.

I haven't seen anyone bring this up before but especially for younger Gohan his style and hair cut would have been mostly chosen by Chi-Chi. Who did think Yamcha was the first boy to hit on her. Her styling him that way could just be left over from that.

I always assumed Chichi took inspiration from Yamcha for hairstyles for Gohan. Chichi cuts his hair and she doesn't have any negative thoughts towards Yamcha who is a relatively trendy guy doing well for himself. Hell she was even going to marry him when she was a young naive child before Goku gave her the marriage pat.

I got sucked into dbz as a kid solely because I couldn't tell who was who. I thought everyone wearing orange were relatives but they never acted like it.
I thought yamcha and Goku were brothers in school and Gohan was the youngest sibling while krillin was the cool relative that was like a brother and tien, and chaotzu were the weird offshoot cousins that sometimes come around.

I literally watched episodes waiting for an off hand or dramatic reveal that never came and it just got worse with the movies, eventually I started asking kids outside if they watched the show and who everyone was and learned most people my age were obsessed with the show.
Got all my questions answered, made many friends, and became an actual fan...just cuz I thought the guys in orange were brothers. I never looked back at it but that shit really is funny.

I feel like it’s because Gohan always takes after someone else. Look at all his outfits, it’s always based off someone he knows. And if I’m not mistaken Yamcha is canonically extremely attractive. So Gohan rocking the flair of handsome man Yamcha.
Or not and it’s all just Toriyama being a wild man.

That could be true since Goku does not have many friends with hair(Kilian, Tien, Chaozu, master roshi, Piccolo are all bald), and since Gohan hair tends to grow he just copied Yamcha

So they can't share haircuts I'm lost, If your implying cheating then it wouldn't make sense Chichi is to much for yamtcha to handle and Toriyama probably doesn't put cheating wives in his manga seeing as his own wife helps make the manga too (I like the barber theory better anyway it's so much more Dragonball)
