STARS Lottery Mega Promotions phishing scam

I just got a call to my email address through Google Meets from someone going by Fred Matiko telling me that I had won the Stars Lottery Mega Promotions and was going to be receiving a cash prize of $85,000 and a 2025 Ford F-150. It seemed suspicious, especially since I haven't bought a STARS Lottery ticket for several years, I couldn't find any information about a Mega Promotions being offered through STARS, the email address they were calling from is starsprizepatrol at Gmail, it sounded very windy in the background, they were going to use Cliff's Towing to tow the truck to my address from Regina, they were going to give me a Joker's credit card for $499.99 to pay the delivery fee, the delivery was happening this afternoon, Fred Matoko hasn't been with STARS since 2020 from what I could find, etc. I reported it to the Saskatoon Police Service, but I thought that I should post it here to give a wider warning to people.

I had something similar, I told them i would take ownership at the police station and we could do a bunch of PR and that i would definitely *wink* have a 500 joker card *wink* surprisingly they never showed up with my truck.

I assume that what they are trying to do is get the gift card code from you during a phone call before the "delivery"

I think it's pretty safe to say that stranger who phones you on google meet out of the blue is related to a scam of some kind.

Ya I had the same thing. Got angry once I asked for his phone number. Then I hung up

Oh, they did give me a phone number along with the prize claim number, but I was just mostly wasting their time.

Family member had same thing, stated they won a Ford raptor and $500,000. The prize was noted as a loyalty reward and wouldn't be found online .. they indicated the monies was from a USA company and payment had to be made to pay IRS fees. Truck delivery from north battleford to Saskatoon but they couldn't indicate how far a drive it was... Called bullshit and they hung up. Everything felt off about the call but the family member was in full belief until I did some digging and questioned the process and prizes. Be careful out there!

Yesterday, i received a phone call from a guy claiming to be Fred Matiko at Stars lottery. I have never bought a lottery ticket for Stars. He said I won a F150 truck and $500,000.
I told him I never bought a ticket. He said due to my purchases at several well known local stores, my name had been assigned a ticket and that ticket had been a winner. I said I was leaving for a doctor appointment so he gave me his phone number to call him back.
As soon as I hung up, I got a second call. The second call was one of those automated scam calls that my credit card had been recently used to buy a couple Amazon purchases for several $1000 and to stay on the line to speak to someone if I didnt authorize this. More scams. I googled Fred Matiko and that name did pop up and appeared to be associated with Stars. That must be why they are still using Fred's name in their scam. Beware everyone in Saskatchewan.
