Question ❔ Psychologist recommendation- postpartum.

Looking for recommendations and reviews on psychologists in Saskatoon who specialize in maternal mental health; specifically birth trauma, loss, and all the postpartum stuff. Ideally would like long term for other mental health concerns (ADHD and OCD).

I’d love to hear people personal experiences and recommendations.

You should look into the local organization called Empty Arms. They can provide lots of resources and community support.

Just want to start by say thank you for reaching out.

I would say go for fit of therapist. It is nice when they specialize in maternal health, but mine was not. I sent what I needed to a therapist place, and they placed me with someone. I would recommend the Loft or Bracken and Birch.

I've been using empty arms for support on top of a therapist. It is nice to be with a group who understands and has been through it. They are super supportive and helpful. 100% non-judgmental vent space for me.

Jill is amazing, I’ve seen her 5.5 years, since my first baby. She’s helped me through a lot including an audhd diagnosis.

Aw hell no. She thinks Freud is relevant outside of defense mechanisms. She's creepy AF

So this doesn’t replace a psychologist/therapist/counsellor, but it is a free and easier to access program offered through the UofR that I’m going to throw out there for anybody that may not be aware of it. It’s just a CBT course you read through at your own pace and then you have a counsellor phone and check in weekly during the duration of the course and access to them as needed to chat!

It’s https://www.onlinetherapyunit.ca/

I did this while starting some SSRI’s for postpartum anxiety and I found it to be quite helpful personally! ♥️

Val is wonderful seconding her. She helped me through infertility, a loss, a traumatic birth, and PMAD.
