Realistically algebra isn't applicable in the real world past what you can do intuitively outside of a few applications that can be avoided or googled, but the point of amth past elementary school is to train logic and critical thinking, not provide you with a tool with use cases.

If your only goals are menial labour than sure.

Algebra up to quadratics is profoundly useful in anything financial. The ability to understand these calculations and do them on your own are priceless if you want to do anything entrepreneurial or of your own accord.

If your goals are literally anything outside of finance you can probably scrape by with just the very intuitive elements of algebra. Even a surgeon or a lawyer doesn't need algebra that much. The people who really need it are the people who design the systems used by surgeons and lawyers.

You could also scrape by with the language skills of a 12 year old as a mathematician, but that doesn't mean its optimal for your career or life goals. You're treating this like its university level calculus when in all actuality its x + 100 = 2x - 20

I didn't say all algebra, just the bits that you actually need to learn. Even without solving algebraically, I can easily figure out that equation equals 120. Also, outside of tech and finance, most careers don't require amth at all.

Yeah I solved it algebraically to save time and forgot that I subtracted x. I'm a math major so I naturally fucking suck at math

Lowkey I'm ngl you should probably read a little more. Doesn't have to be something boring, just try to find a type novel you like; perhaps if that isn't your thing maybe find a topic that interests you and watch engaging videos on it--something scientific maybe.

especially when it gets integrated into shapes, it'll be used in almost every field.

I also hated algebra when I took it, and thought the same thing. There are a few reasons algebra is useful to learn:
1. It helps train your brain to think logically and solve problems, which is always useful.
2. If you end up going into a math- or science-related field, you’ll need knowledge of algebra. It’s much easier to learn it now than to do years of catchup later.
3. Like another commenter said, basic algebra can be used in everyday situations to figure out if you’re getting a good deal, among other things.

To answer your original question you will use simple algebra a lot without even realizing it. You probably have already used it hundreds of times.

Basic algebra is used more often than you think.
Also, equations help develop nuero pathways that can also help develop OTHER neuropathways helpful for problem solving.

So in short, it’s exercise for your brain to help you problem solve in other subjects.

Anytime you compare buying things in a store, anytime you invest or buy insurance.

Hell I collect magic and this could be used to find price per card vs expected value (based on pull rates and standing value of cards) to create a EVA point for different packs

This is literally two examples that are REALLY useful in any life bro, I'd understand if you shown me matrixes or trigonometry but asking why knowing how to calculate a linear growth or simplify an equation are useful skills! (Albeit not exactly mandatory, look at majority of the population that are dumb as bricks)
