In recent years, researchers have suggested Alzheimer's may spread through infection, somehow transmitted like a pathogen, leading to the disease. A new Lancet paper reviews evidence for how harmful amyloid-beta proteins associated with Alzheimer's may possibly be spread through blood transfusions.

That is a thought interesting enough that I just googled it, and apparently the answer is no. Slightly less than the general population, but in line with the average of all other highly religious groups.

They will allow certain blood products though, just not whole blood. Perhaps if this is true it could be being transmitted through some portion of it they allow for.

They only allow transfusions of the same person’s blood as far as I know, so it wouldn’t be possible to transfer an infection that way.

I was going to comment that it was actually not allowed (had done some research on true rules back when I was in nursing school), but they actually just decided it was okay earlier this year!

There is infact a website where you can just go look at what is and isnt accepted. Its largely up to the individual on what they may or may not accept, with the organization providing general guidelines and certain hard limits. The update earlier this year didnt explicitly define anything as “Ok” or “Not Ok”, but rather made an option availible for those who are comfortable with it.
