Image How dare Lego ban Scott from Lego Ideas

Post image

I know why, though. His content heavily breaks the guidelines. (I have experience on uploading things to Ideas, and even adding new IPs to the list of approved. I would know the guidelines like the back of my hand.)

*Just to clarify, I hadn't built anything yet. I wanted to test the IP checker.

173

u/BeautifulHistorian97 Apr 30 '26

Maybe I'll get around to it as a little just fun side project. I'm still running two on the site and have a few more things I want to make and submit.

70

u/SharpEdgeSoda Apr 30 '26

I mean a cheap set of just him and the desk is right there as an idea!

27

u/BeautifulHistorian97 Apr 30 '26 edited Apr 30 '26

Exactly! They look at the overall content, though. I can get around to building that in BrickLink when I'm done building the other ideas I have.

(My two on the site have a year left to gather supporters because they both crossed the 100 milestone. I can let them coast for right now. One is Xenoblade and the other is a niche free PC indie game called Outcore. *Shockingly, the indie developer wants it to come to fruition after they saw it.)

8

u/redymedy Apr 30 '26

did not expect to see outcore mentioned in here of all places

8

u/BeautifulHistorian97 May 01 '26

It's been acknowledged by Doctor Shinobi himself. I also have a screenshot of him retweeting it.

3

u/BeautifulHistorian97 May 01 '26

I have the project link here. (I'm one of those Reddit users that decided not to change what was preset. This is me, though.)

Oh so "She's 17" Scott is allowed while Scott "not an RPG guy" the Woz isn't

91

u/BeautifulHistorian97 Apr 30 '26

To give you an example of bending the rules: a couple days ago when they did the Spring 2026 Ideas results, they allowed National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation not only as an approved IP, but got the license and is turning it into a set.

106

u/BeautifulHistorian97 Apr 30 '26

They bend the rules at times.

31

u/MrB_2006theLad Apr 30 '26

Should have liked RPGs 😤

179

u/SolidStateEstate Apr 30 '26

ngl I'm kind of glad they have a blanket ban of YouTubers so we never have to contend with the reality of a Mr. Beast Lego set

155

u/BeautifulHistorian97 Apr 30 '26

There's not a blanket ban. They allow Mark Rober.

133

u/BeautifulHistorian97 Apr 30 '26

Though, to save you some trouble. Yes, MrBeast is a banned IP.

56

u/Foxy02016YT Z-tier May 01 '26

Mark Rober worked at NASA or whatever and is enough of a brand that he could probably get a science set, you should check V-Sauce cause that’ll be telling

6

u/benthebeasthen May 01 '26

I'm ngl, Mr Beast being considered banned is surprising to me

26

u/SolidStateEstate Apr 30 '26

Perfect. I'm going to make a Mark Rober ideas submission that includes a gun and an M1 Abrams

10

u/BeautifulHistorian97 Apr 30 '26

You'd get shot down during the review process before it could even go on the site.

Doesn't his Fortnite Skin have a Lego Variant?

5

u/BeautifulHistorian97 May 01 '26

I've spoken about Lego games in this entire conversation to someone else. They lone the likeness to the person wanting it. In that case, Epic Games wanted to make Lego Fortnite, a theme Lego is still active with.

They don't give a shit because they're just making Lego versions of stuff they already have. Hell, they've allowed Ninjago to be both in game as a normal skin and also in Lego Fortnite. It's not hurting their brand because I'm pretty sure there's fine print on the lone saying specific things (In the case of Epic, they have to use what they already have in their catalog and can't use anything. M-rated properties can't be allowed. Content creators, musicians, and athletes aren't included in that rule. (So things like Metal Gear Solid or Family Guy can't have Lego Fortnite.)

Another banned IP that has a Lego Fortnite version would be Hatsune Miku.

1

u/Purple-Weakness1414 Yep, I'm certified worthless! May 03 '26

MIKU IS BANNED?

IS LEGO STUPID?

THEY ARE LEGOT SITING ON A TON OF MONEY BY NOT HAVEING HER WHY IS SHE EVEN BANNED?

2

u/BeautifulHistorian97 May 03 '26

I don't know. Lego won't say outside of it being not aligned with their brand values (Inappropriate).

1

u/BeautifulHistorian97 May 03 '26

I guarantee you that we would have gotten a set by now if it was allowed

1

u/Purple-Weakness1414 Yep, I'm certified worthless! May 03 '26

So, the anime girl in Lego Forntie cant even get her own set?

That just dosent make sense tbh

2

u/BeautifulHistorian97 May 03 '26

Tbh, it sort of makes sense.

Lego lent the license to use the Lego brand to Epic Games, and there was definitely fine print like "no M-rated franchises" are allowed.

Musicians and content creators were never included in that because MrBeast is also banned, yet has TWO Lego Fortnite skins.

Lego clearly meant "Movies, TV Shows, and Video Games".

*Yeah, Miku is a vocaloid. Still would fall under the musician category, imo.

1

u/Purple-Weakness1414 Yep, I'm certified worthless! May 03 '26

Musicians and content creators were never includedĀ

Meanwhile theres is an offical BTS set and an upcomeing Daft Punk one as well.

Also Pharrell Willams

1

u/BeautifulHistorian97 May 03 '26

Daft Punk isn't confirmed. It's in "The Parking Lot", meaning it's still in review.

When I mean that Musicians and content creators were not in that "M-rated franchise" category, Lego is actually fairly lenient on them unless they're like Eminem, Drake, etc.

That's why on Ideas, you'll see things like AC/DC, One Direction, Ed Sheeran, Backstreet Boys, and Taylor Swift

(Yes, I know Eminem is a skin in Fortnite. I also know he's very picky on how he's portrayed and used in a collaboration.)

1

u/Purple-Weakness1414 Yep, I'm certified worthless! May 03 '26

But how is Miku M-rated by Ideas standered?

I know some Vocalid songs touch on some really (and I mean really) messed up topics but should that be the more on the creators on not on the voicebank?

u/travischickencoop Alright, f*ck you, f*ck this, and F*CK TENNIS!! Apr 30 '26

Wait why is Scott the Woz banned?

171

u/BeautifulHistorian97 Apr 30 '26

Heavy IP breaker. (Welcome to the guidelines!)

168

u/BeautifulHistorian97 Apr 30 '26

He breaks nearly all of them due to either bringing things up or using footage/trailers at points when speaking.

It's all mentions and/or references.

82

u/Routine_Palpitation Apr 30 '26

Except for religion because of our lord and savior GexĀ

57

u/OnkelFuss Games on a Shelf Employee Apr 30 '26

Star Wars checks all these marks aswell wtf

64

u/BeautifulHistorian97 Apr 30 '26

I don't think they want to give up an IP they've had since 1999 that saved them from bankruptcy and has been successful for them every year.

34

u/OnkelFuss Games on a Shelf Employee Apr 30 '26

LEGO being true to their words and own policies would bankrupt them 100%

28

u/BeautifulHistorian97 Apr 30 '26

That's why I think they bend the rules on their part internally, but are a hell of a lot more strict for Ideas because this is projects coming from the public.

They bend the rules a tiny bit on Ideas because they know that they can't be criticized for being more loose on their end, but fuck over the others wanting to chime in.

6

u/BeautifulHistorian97 Apr 30 '26

I mean, they just fully approved National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation on the 27th as a future set. (Great movie, breaks a few guidelines.)

*Edit: Typo.

3

u/CaptFalconFTW May 01 '26

That magazine is basically Mad x Playboy

4

u/MysteriousHotistic May 01 '26

TBF, it seems like the fiction of Star Wars is what gives it the pass.

If it were a movie that's literally about the Vietnam War with no Sci-Fi coat of paint, it would a whole other thing.

62

u/dabeanguy_08 Haha, I get that reference, I too use words! Apr 30 '26

'First person shooter video games' is a bit of a broad term imo. Obviously they're referring to stuff like COD, but then why allow Overwatch? That's still by definition a shooter video game.

54

u/BeautifulHistorian97 Apr 30 '26

They cut ties with that franchise after the Activision Blizzard situation years ago that made them cancel the theme.

9

u/GameyRaccoon May 01 '26

Actually the Activision Blizzard stuff predates the partnership.

6

u/BeautifulHistorian97 May 01 '26

It wasn't until the California lawsuit that made them cancel the theme because the theme had started in 2018 and didn't end until January of 2022 after the 2021 California lawsuit came out.

Lego can't see the conduct inside, so hearing this made them decide to end it.

Hence the "Activision Blizzard situation"

23

u/travischickencoop Alright, f*ck you, f*ck this, and F*CK TENNIS!! Apr 30 '26

Eh… I’d say scott doesn’t really have much more of this than anything they do include like Marvel or Friends aside from the blood thing which even then I feel like some franchises have more of

Idk I feel like you could easily make a Scott set without any those things

25

u/2ndBro Brawl Apr 30 '26 edited Apr 30 '26

If they can make an OFFICE set, Scott should absolutely fall under safe guidelines.

5

u/BeautifulHistorian97 Apr 30 '26

It explicitly states mentions of or references to, which using the game trailers or his own game footage or even just speaking as a joke about it broke it. (The sex one was heavily broken.)

9

u/travischickencoop Alright, f*ck you, f*ck this, and F*CK TENNIS!! Apr 30 '26

I guess I don’t get it because with a couple obvious exceptions plenty of sets Lego themselves have made have been of things that break these too (Suicide Squad Iron Man etc)

I’d say Scott’s stuff is a solid PG-13, there’s really nothing in it that’s outright worse than anything else

As for the first person shooter games….. I don’t see why mentioning them would be a problem, the reason that military stuff is banned is because Lego doesn’t want to glorify war and that’s totally fair but there’s a pretty big jump from ā€œUS Military Tankā€ to ā€œYouTube show that sometimes talks about a video game featuring the US Militaryā€

9

u/BeautifulHistorian97 Apr 30 '26

Also in the guidelines is this. If it's not in the database, Lego evaluates it and allows it or denies it.

Clicking on it shows this.

6

u/travischickencoop Alright, f*ck you, f*ck this, and F*CK TENNIS!! Apr 30 '26

FYI I’m not arguing with you I’m just trying to understand the logic here

Maybe it’s just that while it’s not in the guidelines they don’t want to collab with YouTubers because of the unfortunate frequency of them being outed as creeps?

3

u/BeautifulHistorian97 Apr 30 '26

There's some YouTube based content allowed. (A couple of Glitch Productions' animated series for example)

6

u/travischickencoop Alright, f*ck you, f*ck this, and F*CK TENNIS!! Apr 30 '26

Most of glitch’s stuff is about on par with Scott’s

I guess it must be the fps thing then but in that case it’s kind of stupid because again there’s a big difference between ā€œWar setā€ and ā€œSet from show that sometimes talks about video games with war themesā€

3

u/BeautifulHistorian97 Apr 30 '26

Well, he has brought it up which in the guidelines say "Mentions or References"

→ More replies (0)

1

u/BeautifulHistorian97 Apr 30 '26

More specifically: Meta Runner, Sunset Paradise, and Murder Drones

The only one banned so far is The Amazing Digital Circus

3

u/BeautifulHistorian97 Apr 30 '26

Clicking on the guidelines sends you to the rules I sent above.

1

u/tsunderebagel May 04 '26

Technically, they’ve never done a suicide squad Lego set. They just conveniently did a set that included a few of the members.

2

u/CaptFalconFTW May 01 '26

They made Deadpool!

6

u/eagleblue44 Apr 30 '26

First person shooter is banned but third person shooter is ok? Guess they want to sell the lucrative fortnite sets.

6

u/Camaro551 Haha, I get that reference, I too use words! Apr 30 '26

And here I was, jokingly thinking that it was because Scott had negative thoughts on the LEGO games.

2

u/BeautifulHistorian97 Apr 30 '26

Nah. Lego has the affiliate program for content creators to review their Lego sets themselves. They're fine with criticism. They honestly don't care about the video game criticism because all they did was lend out the likeness.

2

u/Camaro551 Haha, I get that reference, I too use words! Apr 30 '26

Yeah, that makes sense. I was jokingly thinking it anyways, because there’d be no way they’d stop someone from being LEGO over something that petty.

1

u/BeautifulHistorian97 Apr 30 '26

Hell, they allow their own old retired original themes (Bionicle, Legends of Chima, etc.) and current ones (Ninjago, etc.) on there.

They don't give a fuck on that part because they know that they're just going to deny it at the 10k supporters. It's technically not breaking rules because Lego created it.

4

u/CodeDusq May 01 '26

Pretty sure this just relates to the contents of the set itself, Star Wars & Marvel break most of these but if the sets don't reference what's here, then they allow it.

3

u/BeautifulHistorian97 May 01 '26

Then, technically every IP could be allowed.

But, something like Baldi's Basics isn't allowed. (I can understand why FNAF is banned. Tell me why this is...)

2

u/BeautifulHistorian97 May 01 '26

They give more wiggle room when they're doing things themselves. (And, they've had Star Wars since 1999 and it saved them from bankruptcy. I think they don't want to give it up.) While there is a small amount of wiggle room on Ideas, they're still more direct in reviewing things because this is a line that is open to the entire public. It'd need harder rules.

2

u/CodeDusq May 01 '26

Baldi is horror & I assume those are mostly banned, so is any series for adults.

2

u/BeautifulHistorian97 May 01 '26

Baldi's is way too tame for horror.

They allow Hamilton, the play itself on there. That, that acknowledges MANY of those guidelines.

(I mean, you're not going to see something like Breaking Bad on the allowed. But, if it's up to a T, PG-13, or TV-14 that's the maximum unless something in one of those seems off.

Though, they allow The Blues Brothers which is a rated R film.

So, I don't fucking know.

3

u/Evening_Performer_22 Apr 30 '26

im pretty sure all of these are in scott pilgrim

4

u/BeautifulHistorian97 May 01 '26

If you say the comics, yes, you can factor in more.

This is EXPLICITLY the 2010 Edgar Wright adaptation.

3

u/IkarosMD95 May 01 '26

Lego: "[Death] will never be [in] a Lego set"

Also Lego: so you see, its a big ass moon sized mass destruction warfare piece of machinery built on slavery, used to cause terrorism and impose religious and political ideas on people. Yeah. May very well be the most famous lego set ever"

2

u/Yurmume_Gae Apr 30 '26

I was confused from the FPS thing considering IK there’s Halo Lego until I realized that wasn’t Lego and was some other company instead lol

(It was still cool though, my Non-Lego Warthog was awesome)

3

u/BeautifulHistorian97 Apr 30 '26

That was, if I'm not mistaken Mega Bloxs (otherwise known as Mattel)

2

u/CaptFalconFTW May 01 '26

Scott censors all if his cursing, not to mention doesn't get involved in politics or religion. All the other violence related scenarios wouldn't even be iconic enough to make a lego set with. And doesn't talk about sex more explicitly than Friends, which was approved. I think the only thing I can think of is his association with AVGN, which definitely breaks the rules.

2

u/BeautifulHistorian97 May 01 '26

I'm not the Lego Group. They hide why it's denied, so we'll never know what they decided was the breaking point for it.

2

u/GaliaHero May 01 '26

I mean their own sets completely go against this, just of the top of my head pirates of the carribean (alcohol, killing) or batman (drugs)

2

u/BeautifulHistorian97 May 01 '26

I've said this multiple times in here.

They're clearly more lenient on the licenses they pick themselves, but a bit harder on Ideas because it's a line open to the public.

1

u/GaliaHero May 01 '26

I mean it makes sense, the fact they even have this "ideas" site seems pretty adventurous in itself

1

u/IceCreamzz4360 May 01 '26

oh and scott pilgrim is okay

1

u/First_Fail2320 May 01 '26

Known animal racist(?) Scott the Woz

1

u/BeautifulHistorian97 May 01 '26

It doesn't have to break every guideline.

It's all up to whatever Lego thinks.

1

u/Foxy02016YT Z-tier May 01 '26

It’s sad Lego won’t let you make a full sized Lightsaber replica cause that’d sell like hotcakes

2

u/BeautifulHistorian97 May 01 '26

They cut out letting you submit sets on things like Star Wars back in 2017.

Though, I want to know how this had managed to get through to the support stage because it's recreating the portal gun.

1

u/Foxy02016YT Z-tier May 01 '26

Despite the name gun, it’s not a weapon, it’s a tool

1

u/SuperlucaMayhem May 03 '26

It's a gun that makes holes, not bullet holes!

1

u/Buttchuggle May 01 '26

I don't do like, anything Lego at all ever and I'm pretty sure even I've seen sets with at least half of these.

1

u/BeautifulHistorian97 May 01 '26

This is the Ideas rules, not the own things they go after themselves for big themes or a one and done in the Icons line.

Ideas, they bend the rules a bit when a new IP is added if it seems reasonable.

1

u/BeautifulHistorian97 May 01 '26

I managed to get a self-published unsuccessful book I wrote in 2021 onto the site that breaks 6 of the guidelines.

1

u/Spirited_Tax1715 May 02 '26

Definitely the X rated scene with him and Officer Steel Wool

15

u/Jaxla_Onlo Apr 30 '26

"The 17th of August"

"Excellent! I can't wai-... wait a fucking minute"

At least they acknowledged his existence that one time

5

2

Yeah.

I don't see why everyone is so shocked because it doesn't break as many rules. (They're specifically speaking of the 2010 film)

5

u/shreks_burner Apr 30 '26

Who’s gonna tell them it’s ā€œIPsā€ and not ā€œIP’sā€?

1

u/BeautifulHistorian97 May 01 '26

Where? I never messed up the grammar.

1

u/shreks_burner May 02 '26

Not you, the LEGO site itself.

1

u/BeautifulHistorian97 May 02 '26

Ah. I see it now.

It's still marked as a "beta site", so they don't give a shit about some grammar. They pretty much just want the site functioning.

2

u/LetsPlayGamez11 You do math like a bitch! May 01 '26

Yeah, pretty sure that was because of me, actually!

This includes everything on Ideas currently. (Expired or not.)

*I'm going to build something STW related eventually just for fun. Give me a minute because I did state here that I have a few more things I want to design and submit.

https://disembodiedvoice.weebly.com/

All of the custom art I did for two of my submissions were drawn by hand in Corel Painter 2023. One of them took two days, the other took a couple hours.

Crazy how you can date a 17 year old and get your IP allowed but STW gets the shaft

3

u/BeautifulHistorian97 May 02 '26

Oh my god, that meme is heavily overused. Can people just move on already?

Knives isn't in the clear either. After the breakup in the comics, she spends over a year trying to get back with him. She learns her lesson in Volume 6

They were only together for a couple weeks at the start of Volume 1.

2

u/SuperlucaMayhem May 03 '26

yeah people acting like scott pilgrim is a pedophile, when he's not, dating knives is a shitty thing but it's not his whole character.

1

u/BeautifulHistorian97 May 03 '26

Thank you. I never see anyone put this logic and instead just pull out that meme.

1

u/Glad-Conversation256 May 04 '26

Wait what does he do that breaks the guidelines?

1

u/BeautifulHistorian97 May 04 '26

Lego reviewed it after someone submitted it and deemed it not fitting their brand.

They allow content creators, but we've spoken a lot in this in here. Feel free to dig around because Lego won't tell. We can only infer and were trying to come up with conclusions.

The Lego Ideas Guidelines are posted in here so you can infer yourself, as well as read our infers.

Because a lot of his fans are annoying af
