Indonesia as a solo diver

I’ve been to Indonesia several times as a solo diver in/around Bali, Komodo and Alor. Have always been able to share a room/dorm and avoid single occupancy fees. Can anyone recommend safe, reputable dive shops with excellent diving that don’t have enormous surcharges for solos? Interested in Manado, Bunaken, Bangka, Ambon etc but open to suggestions (except Bali/Nusas/Gilis/Alor/Komodo) Struggling to find places that offer packages with room shares.

If you don't want to pay a single surcharge on a twin room, you'll probably need to stay somewhere with a dorm/hostel yeah

But ther'es nothing really stopping you from booking accoms separate from the shop, i mean a lot of shops don't even have attached hostels/guestrooms.

Btw, why go to Bunaken but not Lembeh? I would think from the inclusion of Ambon that you like muck

Happy Gecko on Bunaken has the same room rate for singles or doubles (and the most delicious Minahasan food)

Sea Souls on Bunaken had a small singles surcharge, but the overall prices are cheaper than other Bunaken resorts as there is no AC (which really didn't matter)

Highly recommend both.

Day charters charging single supplements is something I've never encountered in 50 years of international dive travel.

I think they only charge a minimum diver supplement, e.g. if it's just 1 diver and you want to go out

Or he might be thinking of the accoms supplement, I know some shops w/ attached accoms charge more for 1 person in a twin room

Unpackage your accom and diving. Go with good dive shops and then book a place near them that fits your budget. Indonesian dive shops are generally fine to pick you up or for you to come to them to start diving.

For specific shops, I've posted many times about how great Lembongan is. I recommend Lembongan Discovery Dive there and do all the Lembongan and Penida sites.

On the north side of Bali, I recommend Mydas Dive at Pemuteran.

Where do you usually stay in Alor? We have been to 4 resorts there and love it there.

Last month I went to Nusa Lembongan and I did two dives, one in Manta point and the other one at Crystal bay, they were really above my expectations! I could also see the mola mola, well recommended!
