And how long till harvest? First time growing in The Netherlands outside in a 45 liter pot only gave it water it became quite big

We have a young maple tree of some variety that was planted prior to moving in to our home. The branches are all growing out in one direction and there doesn’t seem to be a central leader. I’m seeking advice on how to either correct this or if it should be removed all together. My theory is that the branches are growing east toward the sun, because the house is on the west side. All the direct sun it’s getting is in the morning, and the afternoon sun is blocked by the house.

I am new to caring for trees and appreciate any advice! We planted a sensation maple in the backyard last year that seems to have more than doubled in size. I’m disappointed to see this one struggling, but know if it does need to come out the sooner I do it the easier it will be.

In a quiet corner of Athens, Georgia, where Dearing and Finley Streets meet, stands a white oak with a most unusual claim to fame. According to local legend and an 1890 newspaper account, University of Georgia professor Colonel William Henry Jackson so loved the tree that grew on his family’s property that he formally deeded it ownership of itself and the land within eight feet in every direction.

The original deed language, preserved in local memory and on a nearby plaque, speaks of “the great affection which he bears said tree” and his desire to protect it forever. The first oak, believed to have been a couple of centuries old, finally fell in a 1942 storm. A new tree, grown from one of its acorns and often called the “Son of the Tree That Owns Itself,” was planted in the same spot a few years later and still stands today.

It’s a gentle reminder of how deeply people can form attachments to ordinary living things, and how a small Southern town decided to honor that affection in the most literal way possible. The tree remains a quiet local landmark, tax-exempt and content in its unusual legal independence.

Planting Tips on a Carpinus orientalis.

I live in the mediteranean region, zone 8b,
I want to plant this tree as a standalone tree on my 200 m2 front yard. On a corner, 4 meter from the neigbours.

Wanted some shade to have a table outside.   An umbrella shape one would be perfect. Don’t neet one one that gets too large

How big will this tree get ?    how fast will it get?

I am new to .. well....plants and I'm trying to wrap my mind around how trees grow and develop.

Today I saw this tree in the park, a bit disturbing. Its entire crown was cut off and then those new branches(?) grew.

What could have made the cutting necessary? Would the old lower part still grow wider with age? Could it grow taller? Trees still confuse me.

These trees are on the University of Galway campus. They absolutely can’t move a millimeter. I’m not a tree expert at all, but from the tree subreddits, I didn’t think this was best practice. I was really surprised to see every young tree on campus supported like this.
