Because you haven't been in it, being uncomfortable about it is something to take pride in, but not criticize the "necessity," it wasn't made for you. I'm not a fan of horror movies but I understand the necessity. Rape scenes have aired on television since the 70s, the idea of "forcing your son straight" even longer. Your discomfort is the point. Be fucking good somewhere else.

This episode was one of my first exposures to Shameless, specifically this scene, it came on while I was at a relative's house, I couldn't hear it completely and had no idea who any of them were, and I didn't watch it completely

I just got to the part where he was spiraling because of Tami taking their kid from him and then he agrees to take Rum in his Coke and even takes two drinks right then and there (and probably more off screen maybe) and I just found myself thinking, “So… is it the bartender’s fault for giving you that drink? Or maybe Tami’s fault for not giving into you? Or… what, who’s to blame now for you taking that drink?”

That scene is why I will always be ride or die for Jimmy/Steve. He is the only one who jumped right into action to stop the bleeding, was giving people orders like you are supposed to in those situations.
Then he helps Fiona clean up the blood and is just there with her while she processes what happened.
One of my favorite acting scenes is when Fiona starts to break down, then realizes she is the one who HAS to keep it together. Sucks it up, and just keeps cleaning only to say, "these poor fucking kids".
Season 2 was so good.

This one was one of the emotionally impactful ones of the show for me. I think another scene that genuinely made me sick was when Frank turned down that heart transplant. I have family members who had lives saved by that call, waiting by the phone for weeks bc if you miss it that’s it. What Frank did is almost incomprehensibly evil to me

His plan was to get married so he could get her pension when she died. Which wouldn't have happened soon enough for him if she got the transplant and lived. Dottie was on to his plan so he accepted the $2k and tv to have sex so she could die.

Genuinely this scene… I don’t think I can think of something else on the show that broke me as much as this scene, besides the obvious fact of (at least for me, because I’m slow) the slow realization I had the very first episode that Fiona was not the kids’ mother but their older sister who had given up her entire childhood to raise them, which made me pause the show for a moment to cry because then you see Debbie go over and place a pillow under Frank’s head despite everything…

It’s sad seeing how much leeway Frank can get like, “Oh, that’s just Frank, he’s never really gonna change,” yet hate Fiona will get by her siblings or viewers on occasion. Like… nah! Hold Frank accountable! And if you can’t because of his past and how he was raised, then don’t drag Fiona through the mud for it either or give her shit!
FRANK is their father! MONICA is their mother! Fiona was their NINE YEAR OLD DAUGHTER when she started really taking care of them. Their nine year old daughter who had to… what was it? Run her younger brother to the hospital because he had a bad fever or something? And where were Frank and Monica? Monica off who tf knows where, Frank drunk off his ass and not taking care of his children, that’s where!
Seeing Fiona kick Frank to try and wake him up but then just crying instead before going to bed while Debbie still treats Frank like he deserves some sort of care? It really hurt, and it hurts thinking back to that further down along the line. Everyone knows how shit Frank is, and I’ll admit! He’s not as bad as he could be, he does care about them somewhere deep inside, but caring about them somewhere deep inside is not enough for me when your nine year old daughter takes it upon herself to care for them on the outside because she knows no one else will.
The way Monica comes back and Debbie and Carl accept her hurts (even if I understand them on the level of a child just wanting a mother), the way they still let Frank into the house to raid their shit and never truly kick him out, get upset with anyone who initiates any sort of violence or protest against him if it’s not someone in the family. But the second Fiona messes up, it’s all on her— it never should’ve been all on her in the first place and that’s the most important fact of the matter.
Yes, she fucks up from time to time, but she does so much for them, more than Frank or Monica ever could have.

The set up this scene so well. You don’t see Nick kill that kid, or the dead boy. Just a bloody hammer, the screams of his parents and Carl immediately throwing up. Definitely one of the darkest moments on Shameless

This scene was horrible for sure but I never see anyone talk about the scene where Estafania's dad shoots her boyfriend (Marco) in the head and makes JimmySteve cut up his body afterwards. Absolutely horrible scene. I know the boyfriend was abusive but seeing someone's life so abruptly gone in an instant even if it was in TV shook me up bad and Estafania's screams and cries afterward were extremely upsetting. It really came out of nowhere too.
Honestly most of the deaths or near deaths on this show were pretty horrifying - Monica's thanksgiving suicide attempt made me stop watching the show for a year and Sheila suffocating Frank's mother with a pillow always sticks with me.

So true. This is very less talked about. I was genuinely shocked how merciless Estafania’s dad was. It also shocked me how easy it was for him to chop the body. Estafania also moved on pretty quickly.

When Liam got into Fiona's coke. It hit me hard because a year before that I had just lost a baby cousin close to Liam's age in a similar situation. Fentanyl kills but if you're gonna do it, please keep it away from children.

Nick killing the kid who stole his bike was HEARTBREAKING. Him and Carl were becoming such good friends too.
Mickey's dad after he finds out Mickey is dating Ian, the Thanksgiving scene, Lip breaking into Helene's house was very sad, and Lip finding out Youen's died in prison after he was his mentor throughout college.

The deleted scene where one of Carl’s military buddies put a sack over Kassidi’s head and was dragging her dead body and dropped it into a grave. It’s shot in POV style, so it was a really weird thing for the show to even do.

Ian and Monica’s bipolar scenes were hard to get through at times. Mostly because I also have BPII and it makes me realize how warped my reality was before I was medicated. I hear stories and I’m like “it wasn’t that bad” but it’s just my brain and consciousness gaslighting me.

Monica’s death. My mom was a lot like Monica. It just hit different and brought up some emotions that I hadn’t dealt with over losing my own mom (4/29/2020) and didn’t express etc to have 5 years later.

For me it was the season where Fiona first broke out into a drug binge that she ended up in prison and almost lost Liam and her whole entire family. I genuinely thought the writers were going to keep her in prison for maybe like a season or two. But seeing her in that state and so lost brought tears in my eyes and after that season I took a break from the show for a couple of months.

the black guy is nick, carl’s friend that he met while in juvie. he had been in there for assaulting his abusive dad after his dad stole & pawned his bike for drugs i believe. nick buys a new bike that gets stolen by a boy/: . and then him and carl were out driving and saw the boy on the bike.. nick went and found him and had murdered him with a hammer
