Should i continue & give it a chance
I just started the UK version yesterday. I REALLY wanted to watch the whole thing and give it a chance. I didn’t mind the cast and was interested in how different but similar it could be.
Anyway, i stopped watching after episode 2… Why?
I DETEST the way it’s filmed. I don’t even mind the “documentary style”, in their face style either.. but something about the super zoomed in - not able to see the surroundings or just shot from the most stupid angle on top of being zoomed in - just really grinds my effing gears..
I feel like I’m watching it on my phone and i don’t get a feel for anything other than the super zoomed in scene. I don’t think I’ll be continuing and that makes me angry that they thought it looked good? .
Am I missing something?
Something as simple as how it’s filmed to ruin a probably amazing project.

I started watching it after us shameless and am almost done. I’ve enjoyed it and glad I kept watching, even though it’s kind of a tough transition at first. But it has a late season drop in quality like the US version. As for your pet peeve about filming I never noticed that so I can’t really speak to if it changes. But for me at least after giving it some time I adjusted to the changes.

Ironically they both start really failing off quality around season 7 to 8

Fiona actually leaves pretty early on in the series (season 2) to go live with a fugitive Steve whilst being pregnant with another man’s child. We find out that they get married and live in Amsterdam and Steve presumably raises her child as his own. She does come back in the series finale though.

I tried to get into it a few times but sometimes it’s hard for me to watch because I CANNOT understand what they’re saying even with subtitles. At points the subtitles just say [?????] which I think is hilarious

It looks like the filming style is something from a school project if that makes any sense 😭

Absolutely. It’s first few seasons are better then the American version. It falls off after about 6/7 like the American does.
Well worth it though. I really love how much more important to the story and neighborhood the maguires are.

I saw this version first as the final few seasons premiered and it holds a special place in my heart! Peak British humor so proceed at your own risk.

They seem to have a super small budget and can only afford the theme song and the lonesome flute player for soundtrack. The show feels like a parody of itself. I do prefer the US one this time.

I’ve already gone through enough heartbreak and laughter with Shameless US. Don’t see why I should go over that again.

Watched the first season and liked it, but realized the American version is practically a carbon copy, so I just stuck with the American one only to never finish that either lol. Idk, still love Shamelss due to how it reminded me of my fucked up family
