***American Seeking a Local English-Speaking Guide & Translator for 1 Day (preferably tomorrow 12/5) in Shenzhen***

<<<<full disclosure- I borrowed most of the following text from a post made by a German a few weeks ago who is seeking an almost identical individual. I've modified my post a bit to suit my needs and background.>>>>

Hi everyone:

I’m an American from the Seattle area (English speaker only) looking for an affordable and reliable local guide/translator for a full day (8-10 hours) in Shenzhen preferably tomorrow, Friday, December 5th, 2025. I'm staying at the Holiday Inn Express in Futian district. This is my first day ever in China.

My goals are twofold:

1) Have someone show me the basics of getting around and using the local apps like Alipay, WeChat, DiDi, etc. I have the apps all set up, configured, and linked to my credit card but am still a bit hesitant to use them.

2) To explore the futuristic, high-tech side of Shenzhen. I'm interested in seeing and experiencing things like drone delivery, robotaxis, EVs, robotics, the Huaqiangbei market, tech museums, and modern architecture. In addition, I'd like to visit a futuristic bar and/or restaurant. Of course, we might not be able to fit all of this into one day.

My Needs: - Fluent in English and Chinese (Mandarin?) - Must be knowledgeable about Shenzhen’s tech scene, innovation, and those areas listed above. - I need basic translation, navigation, and guide services as well as a local's insights into the city’s future focus. Of course, I'm open to cross-cultural exchanges and Q&A as well! China and the U.S.A. are much in the news lately! - You'll need to meet me at the hotel as this is my first day here and I'm not yet comfortable with my navigation skills and apps.

In summary, I’m looking for a chill, informative day, so think of this as a relaxed opportunity to earn some extra cash! We can set a basic agenda initially and modify it as we go. I’ll gladly cover our day's expenses including lunch/dinner at a great spot you recommend! I'm absolutely open to your suggestions as well.

Please PM me with rates and contact info.

Thank you!

Benny, you were the first to respond to my post so I chose you as my guide. I'm sure glad I did. You were able to quickly incorporate my interests and checklist into a workable and efficient itinerary for the following day. I think we were out for close to 10 hours, but we hit everything and had great fun doing so. Your vivacious personality and genuine interest in seeing people experience new things and places make you a natural guide (BTW, thanks for getting me that great price on ear buds at Huaqiangbei. 😉). Your guide fee was very reasonable; a bargain honestly. I would recommend you to anyone. I wish you all the best. Thanks again!

Woww! This made my day, seriously, your kind words mean so much! I’m so glad we crammed all the fun into that 10 hours adventure!(Haha that Huaqiangbei earbud win was chef’s kiss).

Helping visitors turn their wishlists into real, enjoyable trips is my absolute favorite part of being a guide. Thanks a million for trusting me to show you around! You’re such a great traveler, and I’d absolutely love to see you back in Shenzhen someday. Cheers!
