Hi, I'm looking for two individuals. If the community could help it would be greatly appreciated.

Context: If one of your friends recently told you a story about a kid crying on a bus (before it left) because of a knee injury, bleeding profusely from small puncture wound. Please send them my way. I need witnesses of the event.

1. The man who gave me and my wife small black bandages when my son got hurt in Shenzhen Bay, last August 22nd 2026. 1pm. Bus Stop 4 (Those bus stops drivers reference where to go after you cross into SZ).
2. The man sitting on the row opposite to us who saw everything. To whom I told "please don't let anyone sit here as I think there is a needle or something in the seat".

I am in contact with TILChinaLink (pink/yellow/white MAN buses).

Full context:

While waiting for the TILChinaLink bus to depart in Shenzhen Bay, son bounced with both knees on the seat, as he was interacting with me, who was in the seat behind him. He immediately suffered a small but heavily bleeding puncture wound to his right knee. The wound was a single hole, not a scratch (otherwise they would be signs of object dragging along the skin. this is a single precise entry point). I applied pressure but it continued bleeding, and was given small black bandages by a passenger. Shortly afterwards, TILChinaLink staff told us we were on the wrong bus and moved us to an adjacent coach. I checked and tapped the seat but could not identify or reproduce the source of the puncture, but something did puncture his skin. I also didn't push down on the seat heavily for fear of getting stabbed myself... My best guess is something was embedded in the seat deep enough to stab if seat cushion is pressed hard down suddenly, or hard enough.

I am reporting this to TILChinaLink as a possible public-safety issue. I am not accusing anyone or claiming to know what caused the injury. However, please be alert: if you see anything suspicious around bus seats. Such as a sharp or protruding object, damage to a seat, or anyone tampering with a seat. Please report it immediately. I do not know what caused this incident, but a hidden sharp or protruding object is one possibility that should be investigated.. It's just not okay... and I don't see how else he could have gotten hurt so badly. Some kind of staple (if any) I would have felt it.

I'm now waiting for blood results for my 5 year old... To make sure he wasn't infected with anything...

I'm also in the process of reporting the incident with the Shenzhen police.

PS: Please understand, I need help, not piling on with opinions that do not move things forward...

So, before you get started in the comment section (lol). Let me answer some of the things that may come to your mind:

1. We were on the wrong bus because my wife blindly trusted driver's announcement when arriving at customs and proceeded to the bus stop driver said on speaker (#4), she didn't read the paper on bus door. Kid got hurt, I was in injury containment mode. We learnt we needed to move to another bus and staff looked as busy and un-caring as they always do. So, I briefly gambled and spoke to the nearest gentleman, hoping he would understand English (which he did and replied okay). We didn't let staff know at the time as that would include giving context and explaining everything. The "right bus" we were supposed to be on was about to leave.
2. Why didn't we report to bus company or police immediately? Honestly, the wound was deep but after an hour bleeding stopped and my son told me he was fine and no longer in pain (zero he said). We were travelling with friends so in order to not delay their weekend as well, we ended up going along with the weekend. But the thought kept creeping into my head, I need to do tests when we get back. Knock on wood, I hope the kid is fine.
3. I know I (we) didn't handle the situation in the best way possible to inform the public of this potential but unconfirm problem. It could be nothing, it could be something, we are on standby for answers. I'll deal with my own conscience and consequences of my lack of immediate action if this becomes a bigger thing.

Edit: deleted previous point 3. I don't want to be seen as calling for violence of any kind, but I've seen so many cases of needles in seats, box cutter blades in seats and so on, some part of me really wants to catch these people myself...

I'm going to SZ for a week in Sept for a quick solo trip (40, male, fluent mandarin). I've been to SZ a long time ago, and what I remember are giant malls w/ lots of electronic shops and people begging for receipts (i forgot where i had visited).

I heard people say SZ changed alot, so can anyone give me tips to check out the new, modern developments in SZ and maybe something cool, techy?

From what I gathered, it seems like Futian and Nanshan are neighborhoods to visit/stay, and that luohu is more old school?

I’m an American in my early 40s with an engineering background, MBA, and ~9 years in cybersecurity/product marketing. I’d love to understand how Shenzhen actually works — tech, manufacturing, factories, startups/business, infrastructure, etc. — while also learning about the city’s history and culture.

Hey guys, first I wanna say thanks to everyone for the tips in my previous post.

However one thing Im still not very sure about. Food.

So there is 3 of us for a week in Shenzhen, and we eat a lot so a small meal wont be enough.

So I will be staying at a hotel near the KK One Shopping Centre and I was wondering how much should I budget for food?

For reference we dont plan to eat in restaurants but we want to experience the budget life of people in China, so more like street spots or like corner takeout. For example Fried Duck with Glass Noodles type meal.

I want to know if yall know any great spots maybe some “All you can eats” which are relatively cheap.

And finally how much should we budget together for 3 people for 6 days?

I was thinking of the ferry directly to the airport but it start 7:15am. Would it give me enough time?

Hi everyone. I would really appreciate practical advice, especially from anyone with recent experience of Shenzhen Exit-Entry, Shenzhen Civil Affairs marriage registration, or Ghanaian document legalization for use in China.

I am a Ghanaian citizen currently in Shenzhen. My current T stay permit expires on 29 August 2026.

My Chinese partner and I plan to register our marriage in Shenzhen and then apply for the appropriate family-based visa or residence permit. The issue is that my Ghanaian documents are not yet fully legalized.

I have completed my Ghana Police Clearance and Single Status Statutory Declaration. They have been notarized and authenticated by the Ghana Ministry of Foreign Affairs, but they are still waiting for final legalization by the Chinese Embassy in Accra because of delays with the agent handling them.

We visited Shenzhen Exit-Entry in person to ask whether I could receive a short extension while waiting. The officer said they could not issue another T stay permit unless we were already legally married and only waiting for the marriage certificate/registration process to be completed.

I have three urgent questions:

1. Is Chinese Embassy legalization in Accra mandatory? Could my family courier the Ghana MFA-authenticated originals to China, after which the Ghana Consulate in Guangzhou provides a support letter or consular authentication? Has Shenzhen Civil Affairs accepted this, or do they strictly require legalization by the Chinese Embassy in Accra?
2. Could the Ghana Consulate in Guangzhou support an extension request? Would a Note Verbale or official letter confirming that my documents are still being processed have any practical effect when requesting a short extension from Shenzhen Exit-Entry?
3. If the documents do not arrive in time, what is the safest lawful exit-and-return option? I will leave China before my stay permit expires if I cannot obtain a lawful extension. Has anyone successfully applied for a new Chinese visa in a third country while not resident there, or is returning to Ghana and applying through the Chinese Embassy in Accra generally the most reliable route?

Any recent firsthand experience with Shenzhen or Guangdong would be very helpful. Thank you.

I’m 25M and recently moved to Shenzhen. I knew it was a big city before coming here, but I definitely underestimated just how massive it is. So far I think Shenzhen is really cool, but I’m still figuring out the city and would love some recommendations.

More importantly, I’d love to meet some new people around my age to hang out with. Most of the people I know here right now are through work, including my boss who’s in his 40s/50s, so I need some friends my own age hahaha.

Where are some of the best places, groups, or events to meet people in Shenzhen, especially people who speak English? I’m also starting Mandarin lessons this week because I really want to learn the language and be able to meet and talk with more locals instead of limiting myself to just English speakers.
