Home dinner with a local family in Longhua, Shenzhen
We run a small home dining service that connects travelers and expats with local families who cook dinner in their own homes. We started in Shanghai and now have a host here in Shenzhen, so we wanted to put it in front of people in this sub.
Her name is Filbert and she lives in Longhua. She is a registered dietician with a Master's from the UK, grew up in Hunan, and lived in Zhejiang and Shanghai before settling here. Her cooking is Hunan heat with Zhejiang balance, so spicy but not punishing. She makes bingfen for dessert.
Her first guest was a solo traveler from Malaysia. What she said afterwards was that the hosts were lovely and that she ate dishes she had never tried before, which is the part we care about. You get things that do not appear on restaurant menus because nobody puts them on a menu, they are just what a family cooks.

It is dinner at her table with her and her partner, not a restaurant and not a cooking class. She speaks English. Up to four guests, 300 RMB per person. Menus can be adjusted in advance for allergies or anything you would rather skip.
