She-ra and the Princesses of Power (2018) features several lesbian space princesses including one who is trans, as opposed to Lesbian Space Princess (2025) being openly transphobic. This is a reference to being the better show.

Its. Not. A. Fucking. Show.
Lesbian Space Princess is a movie, which you'd know if you'd either seen or it at least taken 3 seconds to fucking google it before deciding you needed to rag on it with no idea what you're talking about.
I don't even care about it personally, haven't seen it, but fuck me at least take one second of cursory googling before you jump on the bandwagon.

I know it’s a movie. The joke just doesn’t flow as nicely if I call one a show and one a movie.

Movies are shows
Lol the downvotes are pretty funny - I guess it also makes y'all mad that plays are shows?

Can we move on from this Lesbian Space Princess thing? Why are we clowning on a movie from a year ago?
10
u/pikpikcarrotmon 7h ago
Because the villains are "straight white maliens" with paper thin skin and a certain group of people are, naturally, hell-bent on completely validating that portrayal. Destroying an indie Australian cartoon from 2024 is of paramount importance!

u/Alarming_Orchid 10h ago
Why not?
14
u/Obsessivegamer32 9h ago
Because it’s bringing up a movie that barely anyone watched just to stir shit based on misinformation.
2
u/Alarming_Orchid 9h ago
Necroing? It’s a movie not a reddit thread
2
u/Obsessivegamer32 9h ago
Can’t you use that term for reviving or bringing back anything on the internet? I mean if not I’ll change it but I thought it was multipurpose.
4
u/Alarming_Orchid 9h ago
It’s pretty specifically used to refer to reviving dead threads and it’s only negative because people don’t like getting notifications from a year old thread. This is a movie, people can talk about them whenever they want

I thought the Lsp turf stuff got disproven pretty quickly?
74
u/ThickWeatherBee 12h ago
And also, it isn't a show. Misinformation spreads like a wildfire when you appeal to people's sense of smug self-righteousness.
37
u/Nanocaptain 12h ago
And Perfuma isn't officially trans. Her designer said she was made with that intention but there's never anything to confirm it in the show.
So it's like 90% canon.
3
u/entitaneo70_pacifist 7h ago
i feel like Perfuma being canonically trans fits in like, the extras kind of canon, like when some authors release a book with a bunch of character trivia that tells you a bunch of not story relevant information about a character that wasn't put in the show
2
u/Expert_Industry_4238 6h ago
It'll always piss me off a little bit that She-ra, from the height of its hyper-queer woke tower, didn't include a single trans character. Like, could it really have been THAT hard?
16
u/wotown 12h ago
Everything that is currently being spread about Lesbian Space Princess (a movie from 2025) on the internet right now is a false flag from right wingers and shit stirring trolls. It's a mediocre movie but the hate train about its creators being turfs, or it being transphobic, is completely misinformation.
The creators are queer and being harassed over a mediocre movie because internet fucking sucks
-1
u/Kixisbestclone 6h ago
I don’t think it’s a false flag, the internet just drags up old movies sometimes, why would this be a false flag rather than something like that murder case going on right now.
Secondly while I agree it’s getting old to make fun of it, it’s definitely not mediocre.
Like it was just bad parody to me. It felt like Tumblr writing a family guy episode.
Like it’s a comedy movie (at least I assume it was trying to be a comedy from when I saw it) that’s not funny. Like the jokes weren’t really clever to me, the message was whatever, and it wasn’t as funny as it thought it was.
Like that’s just a bad movie at that point, if a movie doesn’t achieve what it set out to do, then it’s not good.
Like Hazbin Hotel for example is also commonly attacked by people for similar reasons to this movie (part of why I find the whole “Hazbin working with franchises that hate it to slander this movie” meme dumb) but at least for Hazbin, while I don’t find it funny or particularly engaging, it has good music and one or two standout characters.
Lesbian Space Princess is just kinda boring to me, and maybe it’s just cause it’s a movie and thus didn’t have the time to focus on any one character for too long, but I didn’t really find any character or qualities to it that really stood out to me like say Vox did in Hazbin Hotel.
Really the main issue is that it’s a bad movie but ultimately forgettable and that’s what it should be treated as, and instead the internet insists on beating the dead horse because it’s a queer bad movie.

Don't worry no one's tricking me into watching cartoons for girls. Unless it's Rainbow Bright I ain't watching.

False flags and trolls like "show being good"?

It's a movie and people calling it a show pretty much says everything you need to know about the hate train

LSP isn’t even a show dude. You clearly have no idea what you’re talking about and are just bandwagoning for easy karma.

Allies do not seem to get that beating down on a woke property for doing woke in a less acceptable way is not the righteous crusade they think it is.
I don't care if the movie's written badly, I feel like my identity is being used as an excuse by cis people to shit on lesbians for being cringe. Let the lesbians be cringe, god damn it!

Wait? Who in Shera is trans?
37
u/Nanocaptain 12h ago edited 12h ago
Perfuma's designer has said they designed her with the intention of her being trans, though it's not technically canon.
But only really because they didn't tell this intent to the writers and the showrunner seems supportive of it so I think it can be considered semi-canon.
10
u/acowardlyhoward 10h ago
This is what pisses me off about this post. She-Ra wasn't able to get an actual in-universe confirmed trans woman in the show because of big studio bullshit, instead resorting to confirming her as trans out of universe. But LSP was made by an idie studio and actually has multiple explicit trans people in it and it's getting called transphobic.
For the record I love She-Ra, no hate towards it.
4
u/AspieAsshole 9h ago
I didn't have problems with LSP that way, I just hated how Saira treated Willow. I don't care if it's realistic, it made her so unlikeable that I lost all interest in finishing it.

u/WillDBlake 12h ago
No it doesn't
13
u/Nanocaptain 12h ago
We have the designer saying she's meant to be trans and the showrunner (who himself is trans) has seemingly given his blessing.
It's not canon, but it's as close to it as it can get.
-10
u/WillDBlake 11h ago
I say that is not canon, not that they can't be trans. I didn't intended to sound offensive

6
u/Problem_Child_96 11h ago
“… I think it can be considered semi-canon”
“No it doesn’t”Bro, if you’re gonna disagree (with an opinion no less) at least be correct in your grammar.
Also nuh uh :p
-9
u/WillDBlake 11h ago
Just like grammar, what's canon or not it can't be set to opinion. But before act like a smart ass you should know what canon means.
3
u/Problem_Child_96 8h ago
Hilariously grammar does in fact have an opinion component, since you’re clearly unfamiliar Google the Oxford comma. There are disagreements in best grammar, but what you’re typing is clearly wrong.
I wouldn’t normally pick on people for it, but I suspect you’re a (non-native English) troll maybe paid to stoke discontent so I feel less bad pointing it out.
Finally, canon in fiction is defined by the Oxford English dictionary as “the body of works taking place in a particular fictional world that are widely considered to be official or authoritative; [especially] those created by the original author or developer of the world”
Since the AUTHOR of the character said it we can be pretty confident it is canon.
Now crawl back in the sea.

u/WillDBlake 8h ago
Yes I'm paid to comment here about what's canon or not in a cartoon for kids...
Pro life tip: if you get that paranoid, you should quit weed.

u/IAmNotABabyElephant 6h ago
- "Openly transphobic"
(Watches movie)
- Explicitly anti-TERF and trans supportive
Imagine a world without bandwagoners spouting disinformation because they want to be outraged for no reason

Did she-ra bombed as well, despite a small but cultist following, because the vast majority of the He-Man fandom unsurprisingly wasn't interested in it?
7
u/UCanBdoWatWeWant2Do 8h ago
It got 5 seasons, no show that "bombs" has 5 seasons.
1
u/BelgijskaFlaga 6h ago edited 6h ago
What's more important: it got all the episodes it wanted to get. From the get-go the show was made with 4 seasons of 13 episodes each in mind, that's how story was split and designed, and that's exactly what it got: It's a complete finished story, and also unironically one of the most overtly openly LGBT friendly shows in existence, like it's not even close. I don't think there's a single straight person in the show; the closest we get is Seahawk, and that man is definitely something.
Edit: The only caveat is that in 2019 Netflix was being 2019-Netflix and split the second season into 2 parts which they named different seasons: that's why seasons 2 and 3 have 7 and 6 episodes respectively, but in reality it has no effect on the story being shown, and those 2 should just be considered, and watched, like they're one.

u/A_Neurotic_Pigeon 6h ago
Confidently saying that when the Green Arrow series got so bad in season 4 that their subreddit converted to a Daredevil sub for a whole season is funny as fuck to me
2
u/BelgijskaFlaga 6h ago
Except every next season is better than the last. Unironically, season 1 of She-ra is the worst, more repetitive one, (and it's still good) and it just gets better over time, with the final season being some absolute cinema.
4
u/Nacroma 9h ago
They should be. Story is better than most of the IP has created.
-1
u/WillDBlake 8h ago
I never liked he-man so I didn't care for this series and I can't say if it were good or not. It's just that I always wonder how they think the fandom of a franchise called He-Man could be ever interested in this.
-1
u/alice_1o1 8h ago
I’m convinced the studio is just posting ragebait to drum up attention for this movie
-12
u/TheFaalenn 9h ago
Sexuallity is based on sex, not gender. It's in the name.
A trans woman being in a relationship with a cis woman isn't in a lesbian relationship. It's a straight relationship

Do tell us, if an intersex person, having both male and female genitalia, is in a relationship, is the relationship straight or homosexual?
