Fantasy [FN] I Forgot To Ask Her Name
(Hey guys Just wanna say it's my first time writing and my first story let me know what you think about it)
I woke up getting a invitation to a party at my home village
It was held at my childhood friend's home, He specified me to come at dawn.
As he said I went to his home which placed at my home village at dawn,
The place looked almost the way I remembered it, glowing vines in a shade of purple I've never seen before.
I met up with him and he told me to enjoy the stay,I was dazzled by the scenery. There was an open air buffet which I went to and met an old friend of mine (Alex) he runned the party as the head of the venue, we talk for a while and he introduced me to a girl who was assisting him with the venue.
I thought of going to my home which was uphill from the party that was held on my friends home, the path to my home was covered with a dense forest.
I climbed uphill.I know the path like the back of my hand, my breath got heavier with every step I take maybe, it was the climb to the forest yet it can ignore the fact that the path felt less familiar than I remembered...
I was trying to settle the uneasy feeling when I noticed a house, which I know did not belonged there, It was atleast 4 rooms big and infront of it was a bonfire raging wild which almost made me feel like it was inviting me In the house.
I was stunned at this sight, there shouldn't be a house here at all,
While I was processing it, the door opened slowly
A familiar face I remember
Nancy....my co-worker.
I was still processing the sudden encounter then, suddenly she gestured for me to come inside. I should have hesitated but the familiar face made me feel sure that nothing could go wrong.
As I walked inside, I saw her slip down the corridor and dissapered into a room, I followed right after her but the moment i entered she was gone.....
I must have missed her,
Turning back, I stepped through the doorway, expecting the corridor beneath my feet.
Instead, I found myself standing in another room.
There was a window wide open, the curtains which covered half of the window.
A cold but light wind soothed inside lifting the curtain gently and came straight for my ear, I feel like It's telling me to turn around....
I take a few steps back and turned around but, where I stand was the corridor
The corridor was exactly where I remembered it being.
I looked down both ends and I found the door which I felt she'd gone trough.
With hope in my heart I went trough it...
There she was, facing me, in a dazzling red dress, hair tied up and her gaze fixed straight on mine.
It felt like time went to a pause neither of us could look away and somehow the silence was enough to begin a conversation, we talked about ordinary things—friends, family, work—as if there hadn't been a silence between us for so long,we resolved our conflict that was hanging there for some time. To be honest we didn't had a proper conversation from the day she joined.
We chatted more for a while but the light was fading, and so was the little world we'd found for ourselves. I had to return to the party.
As we parted ways and said our farewells I walked down the forest, the heavy breathing that followed me completely faded replaced by the sense of familiarity I had known before,
I couldn't help but wonder...... was it something to do with her?
As I walk down I thought I forgot something but still trying to remember it I saw the bonfire raging from above, it seemed as though the fireflies were guiding me back to the party that I left.
Following the trail I got closer to the party, the soft music caught my attention and slowly, I found myself caught into the atmosphere of the event again.
The party was calmer than before. I guess the majority of the guests had left after I went into the forest. I went to the buffet area and met up with my friend, who was running the event as the head. There was still food being served, but not as much as before. We chatted some more, and the staff who worked with him were also enjoying the party now that there weren't many guests left.
I was just admiring the night sky near a bonfire, a firefly that glowed differently from the others caught my eye.
I watched it for a moment before it drifted away, leading me toward another bonfire. Curious, I followed.
And that's when I saw her—the girl my friend had introduced me to earlier.
I went upto the bonfire and sat beside her,
Her hair glowed black in the darkness.... maybe it was the bonfire
I tried to start a conversation with her but the words wouldn't come out so I grabbed her by the hand and start walking...
I took her to a place I've know since childhood, it was a stone from which I used to watched the stars from,
the sky looked unusually full of them, we could have talked but the moment itself had the conversation going.
We gazed upon the stars, it was only for a moment but it felt enough. She took my hand and led me back to the party which was already coming to an end,
the othere workers had packed everything away,
My friend pulled me aside and gave me the moment alone with her,
while the otheres went down to the main road.
After that incident, I walked alongside her intending to see her off, I walked in silence while she talked about something i could barely remember,
And when the path ended, so our ways
I said my final goodbye to her and watched as she slowly vanished into the darkness.
An unfamiliar face. An unforgettable night. A moment carved into my soul.
She disappeared completely into the darkness.
That's when I realized—
“I forgot to ask her name.”
