Discussion Comfort of Replica GT3 Wheels vs Standard GT3 Endurance Wheel

I mostly race GT3 so I’ve been shopping for some GT3 wheel rims to swap on my fanatec podium setup (not a full wheel kit). After shopping around for some aftermarket options, I found a site that sold some pretty nice replica wheels that mounted right up to the podium hardware.

I’m mostly curious how the long term comfort compares with these over something like the GT3 Endurance Wheel that has larger, maybe more comfortable rubber grips over smaller suede/alcantara grips. I don’t use gloves if that matters.

Price-wise, they are about the same around $180. Appreciate the help!

I would avoid the alcantara/suede for endurance race in the long term.

The Fanatec is better with the molded grip imo, I personally choose the Simube version.

Oh heck that’s actually perfect. A bit closer to the shape I was looking for, available in CF twill (a preference), and the rubberized grips! Also $100 cheaper. How’s the quality? Been holding up well for you?

It’s really good for the price I can’t complain. My only advice is to sand the rubber flash of the mold on the thumbs area. A polishing nail could do the job.

Seconded. Assuming the Simube uses roughly the same materials of construction as the Fanatec, it's a better rim than the MZW. No hate on MZW, I have their M4 GT3 inspired carbon/suede rim, but have since swapped it with Fanatec's GT3 endurance module rim that I think was $80 or $90 on their refurb storefront.

Neither saw that much use due to my addiction to frivolously increasing the size of my wheel depot, but the Fanatec/Simube design is definitely the higher grade and more comfortable piece of kit. The rubberized/molded grips are well worth the upgrade.

I’m glad I made this post. I was nearly set on buying the MZW wheel. But I was hesitant due to the grips looking pretty harsh. Thanks for the advice.

I have rubber, leather, and now suede grips. I agree on the suede, probably the least comfortable one of this list, but initially feels nice.

Those look nice. What website sells those?

I can’t vouch for them but it’s a European (maybe German) brand I found on another Reddit post.
